DE Ron Tatum of Oklahoma City, OK discusses his commitment to UT (24/7):
“When I went there (Austin), I just felt like it was a great fit,” Tatum told 247Sports in advance of his commitment. “The people there were great. The coaches are great. Coach (Oscar) Giles visited me a few days ago and texts me every other day. It was just a great fit.”
“The people are great,” Tatum said. “The coaches are awesome. The atmosphere is great. The defense is great. It felt like home.”
“I think the scheme is a good fit for me,” Tatum said. “They see me playing the five technique and out. One of the main reasons I committed is because of early playing time.”
“I think Coach Herman has things going in the right direction,” Tatum said. “I think they are on the right path and will have a pretty good season this year.”
24/7 reporting QB Casey Thompson is back to being "completely solid" to UT after things have calmed down since QB Cameron Rising committed on Saturday.
Coach Beck went by his school and they had also had a phone conversation.
He's expected to stick with Texas, as things stand.
