Take this with a grain of salt.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are exploring ways to trade their No. 21 overall draft pick in conversations with several opposing teams, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.Thunder general manager Sam Presti apparently wants to avoid using the pick so that the Thunder can “reduce team salary and relieve financial pressure,” Charania reported. All 30 first-round picks receive guaranteed contracts.Along with the Thunder, the San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics are looking to use their picks to acquire veterans, league sources told Amico Hoops.

For what it's worth, Jabari Young, believes there's a strong interest in Thybulle.

Thybulle has spoken with the Spurs and has worked out at the practice facility.

The thing about this is that they’d want someone with significant cost control already and who is not available as a free agent this summer. That should narrow the pool

    Covington for Davis+Marco+29?

A lot of folks believe that Cov has value beyond most All-Stars. While I don't believe he's worth much more than the package you suggested, if the Wolves were willing to trade him (and that's a big if), they'd only do so for much more. Like, they'd want at least Walker added to that, and they'd likely want to dump Dieng in the process. No one would fit the current team more than Cov, though.

I'm not surprised to see speculation on the Spurs moving 29 for a win-now player, though. I believe PATFO predicted this was going to be a very good draft to have two first-rounders in, so they shouldn't give that pick up unless it's for a real difference-maker. I think Amico is just making up. The Celtics have to trade firsts almost in self-defense, but the Spurs have room and a long-term need to justify two guaranteed rookies. It's 49 and Milutinov that would have a harder time making the cut this year. I don't see the Spurs bringing in four rookies, but I think they'd be prepared to handle it.

Agree. Boston is a win now franchise...that put a lot of expectations on becoming elite being a big trade partner this off season. But that plan is likely to fall at least as originally thought...considering Irving is Brooklin/NY oriented and Davis prefers NY or LA and both of them have a better package to offer to NO than Boston... Than they have to decide if going back with last year direction (ecf) starting with re-signing Rozier and Horford (with a core of Rozier, Smart, Hayward, Tatum, Brown, Horford). If they do so, then the route should be try to re-sign the veterans that already performed well (Morris, Theis and Baynes) and go on developing the bunch of young guys with long contracts like Ojeleje, Williams, Yabusele.
In this perspective, I don't see any need to sign three first round picks...alas guaranteed money contracts for players with no nba experience. That means Boston could be a good trade partner for us...cause we have both veterans and valuable assets (Milutinov) to download...

I stopped reading when I read that LA has a better package to offer than Boston. Explain that, because LA's roster is trash outside of LBJ.

LA has the number 4 plus Ball (or another high pick...6 or 7), Ingram, Kuzma, Hart...all of them already made available and still for some times in rookie contracts. Boston has three mid to late picks (14, 20, 22) and for the rest only Tatum like a real valuable asset, considering that Brown has just one year before being extended...and, however, probably they are not going to offer both...

Fansided: NBA 2019 NBA Mock Draft: Searching for clarity two weeks from draft night
by Brendon Kleen 4 hours ago [AKA 6 June 2019]

    29
    Nic Claxton
    F/C, Georgia
    Georgia

Upon rewatching Georgia’s Dec. 15 loss to Arizona State, here are a few big-picture pros and cons that stood out from Claxton’s performance:

He is the fourth best perimeter defender of this draft’s big men, behind Zion Williamson, Brandon Clarke and De’Andre Hunter. Claxton is supremely mobile and functionally uses his length to contain drives and contest shots inside.
Though he operated as a playmaker for the Bulldogs, he rarely was used as the primary facilitator. His handle isn’t at the level to create shots for teammates yet.
His poor shooting touch around the basket and low free-throw efficiency makes his jump shot hard to trust heading into the NBA.

Nevertheless, anyone within shouting distance of being a 3-and-D big man in the NBA deserves to be a first-round pick.
    19
    Rui Hachimura
    F, Gonzaga
    Gonzaga

More mid-range shooting for the Spurs. Love to see it.

The Yardbarker: 2019 NBA mock draft 5.0: First and second rounds
Posted 17 hours ago | By Pat Heery
    [AKA 5 June 2019]

    19.
San Antonio Spurs: Goga Bitadze, KK Mega Bemax

NBA comp: The Ante Zizic Celtics fans told you about

Bitadze would be a lottery pick if he came up in the league 10 or maybe even five years ago. He has power around the basket, a nice touch from the outside and solid all-around game. His problem is going to be — you guessed it — his ability to play defense when he gets thrown into a bunch of pick-and-rolls and must switch onto the James Hardens and Steph Currys of the league. He's a little slow. His ceiling has been described by some experts as Jusuf Nurkic. If any team can help an international talent reach his potential, it's the Spurs.
    Patrick Albertini / Contributor
    29. San Antonio Spurs (via Toronto Raptors): Carsen Edwards, Purdue

    NBA comp: Patty Mills

Edwards' Kemba Walker impersonation during March Madness certainly did his draft stock favors. Instead of being viewed as a chucker, like he was for much of the Big Ten regular season, Edwards is now seen as a player who carried an average Purdue team to the cusp of a Final Four. He showed off unlimited range and impressive shot-making ability in the NCAA Tournament, solidifying his stock as a late-first-, early-second round pick. Every team could use a spark plug guard off the bench, and Edwards fits that mold. He'd be an ideal long-term replacement for Mills.
    David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports
    49. San Antonio Spurs: Deividas Sirvydis, Lithuania

The 6-foot-8, 190-pound skinny wing from Lithuania won't play in the NBA anytime soon. His 46-percent three-point shooting is eye-opening. In typical Spurs fashion, we won't hear about Sirvydis for a couple of years...next thing we know, he'll be burying treys off the bench for the immortal Gregg Popovich.

Yahoo! Sports: 2019 NBA Mock Draft, Volume Three
    [Rotoworld]
    Raphielle Johnson
    RotoworldJun 6, 2019, 9:00 AM

    19. San Antonio: SF Cameron Johnson, North Carolina

The Spurs could use another capable perimeter shooter given their reliance on LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan, two scorers who avoid the three-pointer at all costs, and Johnson would fit that mold. In addition to his ability as a three-point shooter, Johnson also has the combination of size and athleticism needed to defend both wing positions. He’d be a good 3-and-D option for San Antonio, which did a good job of getting perimeter looks for the players most capable of hitting those shots this season (30th in three-point attempts, but first in three-point percentage during the regular season).
    29. San Antonio (via Toronto): SG Luguentz Dort, Arizona State

Dort is one of the stronger guards in this draft class, and he’s also capable of defending both guard positions at the next level. The issues at this point in his career are the decision-making, which can be a bit spotty at times, and the inconsistency as a perimeter shooter. If Dort can become a consistent shooter he can be a valuable asset to whichever team selects him. In this mock San Antonio used its first pick on Cameron Johnson, one of the best shooters in the draft, so the Spurs can afford to take a player like Dort who has some work to do on his perimeter shot with the 29th pick.
    49. San Antonio: SG Jordan Bone, Tennessee

The Game Haus: 2019 NBA Mock Draft June 6
    by Joe DiTullioJune 6, 2019

    19. San Antonio Spurs- Goga Bitadze, C, Republic of Georgia

Bitadze is a physical player who can be a force if given the opportunity.
    29. San Antonio Spurs- Cameron Johnson, F, UNC

The Spurs need to hit on one of their first-round picks if they want to get back to competing for championships. Johnson has great size and shooting ability, but lacks great foot speed.

Look at the bright side -- that same duo got Kawhi despite going into the draft with only the 26th pick.

As for "trading picks for veteran players," the Spurs almost never do that (witness the sentence above).

Ball is . Ingram and Brown are both from the same draft class, so Ingram must be up for an extension, too. Tatum is better than that whole ty package that LA has. In addition, because Memphis jumped into the top 4, and saved their pick, they still owe a first rounder to Boston. It's top 6 protected in 2020, but completely unprotected in 2021. Tatum, pick #14 this year, and the future Memphis pick is a far better package than Mr. blood clots, Mr family drama, and a high pick in a draft where N.O. already has #1.

If the Pelicans have a choice between Ingram and Tatum - which is what it will boil down to - its an easy choice. Tatum & Zion will be a great 3-4 combination for the Pelicans and along with Jrue Holiday they could even threaten the 8th spot in 2019-20 playoffs.

You said Okpala twice, and Windler once. Both of those are mistakes.
