I'm guessing it'll be along compe iveness lines, as Toronto just doesn't have what is needed to win, or some bull . Is Carter an investor in Impact Sports?![]()
There definitely has to be some surprise on the part of Uncle D. Maybe he thought the Spurs would buckle and deal him to the Lakers or Clippers?

He has grown quite bitter. I remember when he said leaving the Spurs was a huge mistake for him. He couldve had at least 2 or 3 more championships. I'll just leave it at that since this is a response to the Kawhi trade. I have no doubt Teams do players wrong all the time but it doesn't mean players should do the same whenever they feel like it. Unless otherwise told by a legit source with details, I will assume Spurs do their business in the most classiest way possible.
Replacing him with Turkoglu and David Robinson with Radosoft Nesterovic, also Claxton with Anthony Carter, hurt. It was downhill for Jack from there, literally on top of the basketball world nailing championship winning 3s in Game 6 of the NBA Finals to punching old people in the stands in Detroit in little more than a year later.
The chance of be traded is part of the game and of the contracts.
What jackson is speaking about is complete anarchy...like if there were no rules, no contracts and like market/trades are not part of the system.
If you don't like the rules of nba just go in China or some other places...were there are different rules. If you are a decent player they are gonna sign you...if you want to stay in america, just try to make money outside of the nba system...there have been in the past a lot of play ground players that prefered to be legends in their neighborood instead of play in the nba. Most of them, actually, knew perfectly well that playing with the best players in the world was risky...and preferred to not put their image in danger.
The point is that the nba system in well conducted, has improved in time a has given to a lot of players the chance to earn a more than decent amount of money, at the point to live their life at the best also post the nba career.
If all players had the chance to play only where they desire (and in time however they can, just have to wait when they are in free agency staus) there will probably be only ten nba teams...but then the money would obviously be considerbly less than what is now.
The Jackson considerations about freedom of play wherever you want are silly...and more the product of spoiled persons than of logical wiew.
That said, I agree in the part and only in the part regarding falso promises like the one supposedly made to DDR...but sometimes players have to realize that till you play for a team, said team will say whatever you want to please you...just for the reason of avoiding negative reactions. Honesty and truth are not for everybody...by the way, one thing we can say is the Spurs not only have treated players in the best way possible, triyng to make their best interest health wise sometime also when it was not the best interest of the team, but also have treated players with quite total honesty, at the cost of being cruel...that's why the Spurs organization has been probably not prepared enough to be rewarded a la Kiwhi way.
Carter's former, or current agent I'm not sure, is Frankel. Supposedly, he founded IMPACT 25 years ago according to a Forbes article in 2017. There is a PDF of the lawsuit in Florida of the agent Elfus who did KL rookie deal, his 5yr 94 million extension, deals with Jordan Brand, BBVA, and Wingstop, and how he's suing IMPACT and Frankel 5 million for money owed him for commissions he wasn't paid. If you read it, you come across Joseph and Jeff Sutton. Jeff Sutton is werth 3.6 billion and is in NY. Joseph is his son. They run IMPACT now thanks to a 10 million investment plus buying 4.7 million plus in debt and interest IMPACT owed to Cobalt Sports Capital lending.
IMPACT mainly has stuck to football players, but the contracts are not guaranteed and mainly short-term. Kawhi is the main basketball client of that agency, if not the only. The Suttons see Kawhi as their way into bringing more NBA players into their agency with longer contracts and more guaranteed money then what football provides. If you want to know why KL is no longer a Spur look no further then Uncle Dennis and Frankel's dealings with Joseph and Jeff Sutton of New York. Read the Forbes article on the investment reported on February 28th 2017
The PDF to the lawsuit is open information on the internet. You can download a copy on your own. Why this isn't being picked up and reported more extensively on even in San Antonio sports circles is beyond me. The information is out there to find you just have to go look.
No ideal solution was to work on repairing the relationship like they did with LMA last year. Nobody wins with a trade now except maybe the Raptors who can win it all if Kawhi's healthy and committed for next season. The ceiling with Demar is much lower than it was with Kawhi. The Spurs have set themselves up for playoff mediocrity at best.
So you would rather tank and rebuild? After this past year that type of season would be disastrous for the Spurs. Our fan base and the franchise may never recover especially after this Kawhi drama. Staying afloat while growing younger pieces is the way to go. I'm sure this was the best offer the Spurs could get vs losing Kawhi for nothing. First rounder plus Poeltl who could end up being very good is nothing to sneeze at.
He even looks ty in a staged video.
Tbh this post deserves a thread of its own. It's legit a Spurs issue if it turns out investors from NY tampered with the Spurs' franchise and manipulated the situation from afar.
It still hurts ....
Jeff and Joseph Sutton are an interesting pair. Jeff is the dad and the money, Joseph wanted to run the agency. IMPACT Sports Agency really doesn't exist anymore, or isn't being rearranged to be something else. Now look at the timeline of this situation:
1) Sutton's pay 4.7+ million in debt and interest, then invest 10 million to basically take over Impact Sports Agency from Frankel. This is in the Forbes article Feb. 28, 2017. That means they bought it before that article came out. From that time on Frankel, Uncle Dennis, and Kawhi's Mom have been on the Sutton's payroll.
2) Kawhi rolls his ankle in WCF against GS - late May 2017
3) According to ESPN Spur's writer Michael C Wright, Spurs give Kawhi's group (Suttons w/Uncle Dennis and Frankel) control over his rehab in August of 2017 before the start of training camp or the regular season. Spurs from then on are locked out of his rehab. The Spurs doctors do not have any say, the organization is not getting any progress reports, and any Spurs staff who does help KL, they are doing the rehab program of Dr. Galoshaw, a doctor who helps the New York Islanders and the Philadelphia 76ers. He is based in NYC.
4) The vast majority of KL's rehab time is at the NBPA building which is in NYC. The incident where Spurs brass were told they couldn't see KL at the NBPA building when they came for a surprise visit was by KL's group (Suttons?)
5) All the times KL was scheduled to play and did or scheduled to play and didn't where all set up by Kawhi! Not the Spurs! The Spurs staff declared him healthy, but they weren't given any consideration through the year to examine him because his group (Sutton?) wouldn't allow it. The player's only meeting happened because he was saying certain games he would be back to play and didn't. He wasn't even talking to the players on the Spurs! Which is why he was asked "Are you coming back or what?"
6) According to Michael C Wright, after that meeting KL went to NYC to continue his rehab, but he was never seen with the Spurs franchise again. It's almost as if NYC is his home base.
Now I personally enjoy NBA pundits who still believe there is a chance that KL will go to the Lakers next off season. Joseph Sutton who runs the agency now is a big Knicks fan, the Suttons have numerous billboard availability to market KL in NYC. Plus Jospeh Sutton really doesn't like LeBron James. Sutton shut down his twitter account recently, but there are screen shots of Sutton bagging on James in 2017, but the big screen shot of his account was where he called LeBron James a phobic slur in 2014. Now as far as tampering charges, you could also look at Jeanne Buss because she had a cryptic tweet July 2018, close to when FA and trades could start, after a trip she had to NYC. KL was up there at the same time. Could she have talked to KL or could she have talk to the Suttons? There are so many questions that have not been raised because everyone looks at Uncle Dennis or Frankel. The real people to look at are Jeff and Joseph Sutton if you want to get an understanding of what happened to KL in his last year with the SA Spurs. The national media don't care about this story because it didn't happen to the Lakers, Bulls, Knicks, Celtics or 76ers. But because it happened to the Spurs, no big deal. They were due something bad happening to them.
I’ll miss him. Might watch the Raptors some tbh.
I am really not a DeRozan fan. This team needs some development from Murray or someone else to really keep me engaged. They aren’t very likeable right this moment...
They absolutely are likable at this moment, but everything is subjective, I guess.
I'm looking forward to next season.
DG:
“I don’t think he messed up. There’s advantages and disadvantages; pros and cons. A lot of times if things are bad and you have nothing good to say or you don’t know what to say it’s better probably not to speak at all. But for him, I don’t think he messed up but he kind of left us, his teammates, to speak for him because he didn’t say anything. Could he have handled it differently? I wouldn’t say better but he could have probably made a statement or said something. It seems like everyone else is getting sources around him, which aren’t the true story and it kind of leaves everyone else to answer for him — the organization, the players, his teammates — when we really don’t know."
“He could have made it easier for everybody else if we would have said something but regardless we know that’s him. That’s his personality, we didn’t ask him to change, I didn’t expect anything different from him. He’s still maturing, he’s still a young adult, he’s still learning the game, still learning media. This will be something moving forward that he’ll adapt, adjust and learn from and make him a better person, player and media guy off the court.”
Kawhi is gone. Let’s pull a sheet over this thread and move on.
Damn. It seems that even Uncle Dennis, while not necessarily a pawn in all this, was no more than a bishop. He certainly doesn't appear to be in charge of Number 2's "group".
Being a small market actually did screw the Spurs in this instance, but nobody could have seen this coming. Right?
Agreed!![]()
Excellent post! There needs to be a investigation into the tampering by Buss, Magic & Sutton! Spurs need to file a grievance or complaint to the league!
Danny saying the same things I’ve said all along. How can you get mad at anything your teammates said when it was you putting them in the situation to talk along with with keeping them in the dark so they couldn’t even answer for you?
Just ludicrous.
LCM....where you getting this intel?
coming from danny that is the eqivalent of dropping a nuke on kawhi
