So how much are they counting this year. Their salaries are 17 mil a year prorated, Lin 3 yr 24mil, Asik 3 yr 27mil. So they are only getting paid 11 mil combined this year even though they are counting 17mil against Houstons cap this year.
owed 15 mil in money. Only count about 8mil against the cap

Why would you want the Spurs to use their cap space on the Rockets low level players? If they can't take back money in the trade, Spurs would have to amnesty Bonner to make what you want work, no?
Also, Lin and Asik, with regards to a trade need 15M in salaries back or the appropriate cap space for that number, correct?
Why would Atlanta wan Lin? lolChris Broussard @Chris_Broussard 2m
I'm told Hawks and Rockets working on sign&trade to bring Josh Smith to Hou, probably for Asik and JLin

Ok after Howard story finally end now to the big fish, when will Kirilenko making his decision? Hope we are strong in the play...
All these teams are getting better, and the Spurs re-sign Splitter. I hope the Spurs have some more moves in the works.
If I am Morey, I would try to pull a trade for Lamarcus Aldridge using Asik + picks + young players. He is way better than Smith and a much better fit, even though I know D12 and Smith are BFF.
They only count 8M with regards to the cap, so that is the trade value they need if I understand correctly.
They wouldn't, it would be for Parsons IMO. They have Teague and Schroeder. They don't need Lin. They need a C and SF at this point.
One, he's expiring. Two, I can see Lin doing well in a situation where he's not next to a ball dominant guard. Not great, but better fit for him.
Gross. Why would they do that. Also, if that is true, it points to a S&T or Spurs using cap space, not the MLE.
But Collison sucks so bad and the Spurs have a ton of PG's.
this happens every year....
we never do this year wont be different....
our best bet is injuries, once again
I don't think so.
What a disappointing off season, Beli and Collison replacing Neal and De Colo...
Prob for some the same reasons UTA just traded for RJ/Bieds.
They need bodies to hit the CBA salary quota and Asik is a good enough C that you are willing to absorb Lin's contract for two more seasons.
I highly doubt ATL takes on Lin.
After the trades I have seen today, I highly doubt nothing..
Why not if they're getting Parsons or Dmo...
Also, if ATL doesn't like who else is out there in FA and does not want to just waste cap space, this basically does for them what UTA just did (get them some salary on the books) sans the picks that UTA got for RJ and AB. Although these guys are actually better basketball players and could be resigned for better deals just next year.
I'm not yet scared of the Rockets. Good team but how is D-Ho going to play on a team that likes to run? How long before he cries that he can't get post touches? I don't think he's THAT big of an upgrade over Asik. In fact, Asik is probably better defensively.
But, hey, even if they're good, it'd be nice to finally get a chance to get revenge on the Rockets in the playoffs, tbh. They've been ducking for too long.
Getting a third team involved makes more sense.
As a back-up you could do a lot worse. I actually like this idea.
