IMO, Josh Smith is a terrible fit next to D-Ho. In the playoffs, you'd just sag off of him and into D-Ho's lap the entire series. And since Smith is willing to take those open jumpers (that he sucks at shooting), it could get ugly in a hurry.
You don't think so what? ATL needs salary on the books. Lin (as evidenced in NY) plays much better when he has the ball vs off the ball. They are both expiring contracts. It all makes sense to me.

Darren Collison is the dumbest PG in the NBA. Pass.
Pop would kill himself if he had to coach Darren Collison, tbh..
Edit: ASIK and LIN are not expiring, but overall I feel point still remains.
Not really. He sucks.
Don't both players have 2 years 20M left on their contracts? They are expiring?
yea, another guard. We staaaaaaaaaaaaacked!
Lin and Asik both have two years left.
btw, someone once said that variables change. I'd say that today's events have increased the possibility of a Bonner amnesty at least a little bit. With some of the potential buyers out of the market, some potential FA targets may be available at an attractive enough price to justify an amnesty.
The Spurs don't need a backup PG tbh. I don't understand all this interest in garbage players like Collison when CoJo is a much better option.
They need a backup 3/smallball 4 and they're done with the offseason tbh.

I think finding a third team makes more sense for ATL.
Add Josh Smith and you instantly get the best NBA 2K Dynasty Mode Team-But-Nowhere-Near-As-Good-In-Real-Life-Team.
Golden State would have been perfect for Howard. But ... good for Spurs. Rockets have Harden and nothing else, really.
Regardless, the West will be tough again.
I made an edit. The expiring part is a concern, but not a major one IMO. There are definitely reasons to have Lin/Asik together. We will see.
Ya, I made the edit, forgot they had 2 more years, not one. But I agree, there are so many angles and variables this is crazy.
I just wouldn't want Lin. Especially when he has 20M left on his contract. But it might happen I guess.
They need both tbh
It's much more likely that Lin is part of a Asik deal then another team coveting him enough alone to be part of a 3 team trade.
Cojo sucks and plays scared tbh. But Collison sucks as well...
no to Darren Collison.
The fact that Jim Vogel chose George Hill over him says alot. Until Woj reports it, I don't see it happening.
Collision is one of the best back up pgs in league...
Corey Joseph has been a model player for the organization and keeps working hard. He has yet to hit his ceiling or earn the label "sucks" with his limited playing time.
And yeah this improves the Rockets, but the Spurs shouldn't be scared. There's not a big on our team that doesn't give Howard fits.
James Harden will kill us like always, but the Spurs should survive him even if they get Smith.
It'll be interesting to see what the Warriors do now that Howard is in Houston.
Not sure how happy Bogut will be knowing he was shopped around so heavily and I don't think they gave that much money to Iggy so he can be a 6th man.
Bogut/Barnes or Klay can net them a very, very good player via trade tbh.
