DOJ courteously permits Congress to view unredacted materials from what's already been released

Members of Congress will be able to begin reviewing the unredacted version of the Justice Department’s files on Jeffrey Epstein on Monday morning, according to two sources familiar with the DOJ’s plans.

The review process will take place in person at the DOJ, according to a letter to members of Congress obtained by NBC News. The members will be able to review the material on computers at the DOJ offices but not the physical do ents themselves.

The letter states that members can review the do ents in person, provided they give the DOJ 24 hours’ notice. The option at this point is only available to members of Congress — and not their staff. They may take notes but can’t bring in any electronic devices, the letter said.
The review will only be of the 3 million files currently available to the public, not the extensive trove of more than 6 million do ents in total that the DOJ says it has in its possession.

Wasn't Bill and Hillary's fixer's Mother-in-Law kidnapped this past week? Also, I wonder if the person taken into custody, and brought back to the US, from Benghazi, is a talker. Things are getting interesting.

Massie on Howard Lutnick: "He should just resign. Three people in Great Britain resigned for less than what we've seen Howard Lutnick lie about. He clearly went to the island, if we believe what's in these files. He was in business with Jeffrey Epstein.

Trump can't keep his own story straight

President Donald Trump has repeatedly maintained that he had no knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex crimes.

But in July 2006, just as Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal case became public, Trump called then-Palm Beach police chief Michael Reiter to tell him that Epstein’s activities with teenaged girls were well known in both New York and Palm Beach.

“Thank goodness you’re stopping him, everyone has known he’s been doing this,” Trump told Reiter, according to a 2019 FBI interview with Reiter contained in the Justice Department’s Epstein case files.

The interview, conducted in October 2019 and not previously reported, has shed new light on Trump’s involvement in the early stages of the 2006 Jeffrey Epstein investigation in Palm Beach, Florida. It also raises questions about how much Trump knew about Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s crimes.

Reiter told FBI agents that Trump revealed that Epstein’s associate, Maxwell, was Epstein’s “operative,” and that Trump said “she is evil and to focus on her,” according to the report. Trump told Reiter that “he was around Epstein once when teenagers were present and Trump ‘got the out of there,’” the report said.

Trump also told Reiter that he threw Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago club. That stands in sharp contrast to what Trump told reporters in July 2019 when he was asked if he had any knowledge that Epstein had molested girls.

“No, I had no idea. I had no idea,” Trump said at the time.

Trump has not said whether he would or would not pardon her. When asked about her arrest in July 2020, Trump said, “I just wish her well, frankly.”

lol DOJ letting members of Congress read then taking it down

    They're so bad at this

Massie should just name the names, like he threatened but, under cover of the speech and debate clause does sound prudent

Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., who was among the lawmakers who viewed unredacted Epstein files at the Justice Department, told reporters he saw “the names of at least six men that have been redacted that are likely incriminated by their inclusion in these files.”

Massie would not reveal their names, saying he “probably should do that from the [House] floor or in a committee hearing.”

He went on to say that files the Justice Department had first posted and then taken down were not available for members of Congress to search today.
“But those do ents not only haven’t been put back up on the site with the appropriate redactions, they were not available to us to search, as far as I could tell,” he said.

DOJ is protecting perps and exposing survivors

You know what to do MAGAs, you always fall in line

After having reviewed the unredacted version of the Epstein files, Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, spoke to reporters about what he viewed. Raskin criticized the Justice Department for both failing to redact survivors’ names and, conversely, redacting people who were not victims of Epstein’s abuse.

Raskin said there were “3,000 pages” in the files in which survivors' names were not redacted.

“There were lots of examples of people’s names being redacted when they were not victims," he said. He added, "I can tell you that I saw a whole bunch of them that seemed very su ious and baffling to me."

He said that among the redacted names were billionaire Leslie Wexner’s and Trump’s. The redactions "struck me as strange, because he’s not a victim, and also his name has appeared elsewhere, so I don’t know if that’s just sloppiness and negligence in some way."

He added, "Donald Trump’s name was redacted in a number of different places, and I saw one conversation between Epstein lawyers and Trump lawyers relating to the 2009 investigation, which had been redacted, and I don’t see any particular reason that it should have been, but we’ll get some explanation forthcoming from it."

Raskin also said that he saw ‘references to 17-year-old girls, 16-year-old girls, 14-year-old girls, 11-year-old girls, 10-year-old girls, and I saw a reference today to a 9-year-old girl. So it is a really gruesome and grim story.’

Republicans shocked to discover that Epstein was a pedo

Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) told Congressional reporter Pablo Manríquez on Monday that she now supports the full release of the Epstein files after expressing shock at the inclusion of a potentially nine-year-old victim in the latest do ent dump.

“I’ve not been one of the members who has glommed on to this as an issue. I’ve sort of intentionally deferred to others to find out about it. But nine-year-old victims—” Lummis told Manríquez, expressing shock and horror at the revelation.

Manríquez jumped in and added, “All over the world—Moscow is saying it was sort of like a real global network that they’re now getting to see on these four terminals they have.” The terminals refer to the Department of Justice computers that members of Congress are being allowed to view the unredacted Epstein files on.

“Wow. Well, initially, my reaction to all this was, ‘I don’t care. I don’t know what the big deal is.’ But now I see what the big deal is, and it was worth investigating. And the members of Congress that have been pushing this were not wrong. So that’s really my only reaction,” Lummis added.
