With you, brother. I'm along for a long ride watching very young players develop into veterans and learning how to win pretty and win ugly.
that, I wanna enjoy the journey just like with Timmy Duncan. We have to appreciate the entirety of these guys' careers cause it's rare to have two generational prospects in one lifetime.

I think Wemby has a chance at this in the next couple of months before he turns 20. I love Sochan but imagine Duren and Wemby lol

Ten Victor Wembanyama observations, quotes after three NBA games
I just watched Victor being interviewed by tony on his channel, skweek show by tony Parker ep. 7. I’ll post a link later. 25 min Victor speaks about his adaptation to the spurs and his new life, recorded before mavs game.
Main topics were:
- Victor does not want any privileges, he wants to be coached firmly
- he talked about the fact he likes shooting on one foot depending obviously of the cir stances
- he changed a bit his shoot mechanic in particular the position of his thumb on the ball
- he cannot wait to play against Durant in particular, he said he watched a lot of Durant tapes
- he wants to play all the games but it is pop who decides
- he trusts very much Sochan playing point guard
- he said that he doesn’t want to be anchored in one position, he feels he can play all 5, for him one of the strength of the team is that everybody is capable to switch
Some other topics FNT related, TP is announcing a friendly July 12th between France and USA in Lyon, he is waiting US confirmation and hopes Victor will play. It will his Jersey retirement of FNT
all in all very cool
Wemby has to watch film of TD and learn to keep his arms up upon receiving the ball and not lowering the ball letting people swoop in for the steal. He's 7'4". Keep your arms up and nobody is swiping the ball off him. Simple thing for him to learn so should be an easy fix
I'm old, I have gotten to see three. Not old enough to see Ice as a developing player though.
Ewwwbanks posterized!
As I mentionned in another thead, Victor is known to be a slow starter, this not a surprise that he performs much better in second half. Now the fact that he is confirming at NBA level that he is a closer is probably the biggest good news for the Spurs. You can teach being more cautious with the ball, to set a screen, to be more patient... but you cannot teach being performant and execute well in late game situations. That's probably the most valuable thing we are learning so far about Victor.
Let's hope he continues like that.
On a side note maybe he should change a bit his conditionning and warmimg up to be more efficient in the first quarter, having him speeding up his heart bit before would be benefitial.
maybe he's that kind of player who needs to feel some pressure and urgency. He doesn"t seem very focused and engaged in his first halves. But when the going gets tough, Vic gets going.
New players/news schemes that he's seeing for the first time as an NBA player. Little bit of in-game acclimation is expected. I think that gets better over the long course of the season with familiarity of nba gameplans.
He is energyzed and fully engaged right at the get go but it's like he needs to have his body warm and be in rythm to calm down, then he starts cutting the TOs, being sharper on defense and hitting shots.
Being cold at the beginning was already the case in the French league tbh... and it was not a problem of in-game acclimation.
I prefer like than the other way around but he needs to get better at it to avoid starting chasing after the opponent initial lead.
That Boy Don't Act Right
... for 3 qtrs.
Then he gets energized in 4th qtr and shows us what he can do, and wins the game.
Head case
He and Pop will fix it.
he needs to learn how to set screens and to hold his position against smaller guys
As of now I haven't seen him set on low block. I wonder if that us by design and more plays inside will come later
