7 days till the draft!!!
His defensive skills would definitely compliment this team's best defenders in White and Murray. On offense he would just take alley oops day. I think we can go back to being top 5 in defense with him. Him, Samanic, Bazley, Claxton have the most upside on defense by being really mobile which is what the modern NBA is all about.

This man is a baller. He is smart, can handle beyond the perimeter, plays in this confident style that was different -- materially -- from most other players in college. Weirdly, he came off the bench the entire season at FSU. Kabengele plays both ends of the floor at what I'd grade as a B-plus level. He'll be drafted in the first round because of his size, smarts, soft hands and, mostly, because he proved in April and May that he was underutilized and has more to give than what he was afforded in college.Round 1 Pick 29

A spindly power forward who would fit ideally in San Antonio's scheme. But remember, as with many of these picks, we're targeting player slots as opposed to franchise destination. By the time we get to the 29th pick, it's possible if not likely that we'll already have seven or eight trades that have gone through.Round 2 Pick 19

The sleeper name of this draft. Jeffries played at Tulsa, where he didn't even rank as one of the five most efficient/proficient players in the AAC last season. But he stands 6-5 with a 7-foot wingspan and has the specs of an enticing second-round type. Jeffries was a four-year player who worked his way to this point, and it's great to see him regarded almost universally as a second-round pick.

19. San Antonio Spurs
Goga Bitadze — Buducnost, C, 6-11, 251
San Antonio’s history with international players speaks for itself. The big man from Georgia was the 2018-19 EuroLeague Rising Star, and could be groomed as a successor to LaMarcus Aldridge.29. San Antonio Spurs (via Raptors)
Luka Samanic — Olimpija Ljubljana, F, 6-11, 227
The stretch four was so good after a single game at the scouting combine he didn’t need any more to vault him into the first round. Could go to the Nets at No. 27, given their penchant for Euro forwards.

LUKA SAMANIC
PF/C CROATIA
San Antonio Spurs
After a bit of a disappointing 2018-19 season, Luka Samanic went into the Draft Combine as a projected second round draft pick. After balling out in the five-on-five scrimmages, Samanic walked out grinning ear to ear and a near lock for the first round.
Samanic is drawing a ton of interest as we get closer to the draft. He’s extremely skilled for a big man, and a team like San Antonio, who have had major success with international prospects, could look at him in the first round.
First off, Samanic has gotten a lot stronger over the past year. He’s worked really hard on his body and it shows. He’s also shown that he can step outside and hit the three-point shot, and even put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. He’s an interesting offensive talent with his size and skill set.
Defensively is where I worry about him. He’s going to have to put in work in that area. Whether he’s guarding on the perimeter or guarding around the basket, teams want to see him get better in that department. He’s not a great athlete either, but he does move pretty well for his size.
Overall, Samanic is quickly becoming a favorite among scouts. There’s a lot to like about this prospect.29
CAMERON JOHNSON
SF NORTH CAROLINA
San Antonio Spurs
We’ve talked about quite a lot of good shooters in this draft class, but meet the best three-point sniper in the draft — Cameron Johnson. The North Carolina senior shot over 47 percent from the three-point line last season and will get looks from teams who are looking for an extra shooter.
While Johnson does have other skills, his role at the next level will likely be a three-point specialist, at least in the beginning of his career. You see some really good shooters in every draft class, but Johnson is really on another level and will make a living in the NBA for a very long time thanks to that.
The Spurs took on another pure shooter a few years ago in Bryn Forbes, and they have done a marvelous job turning him into more of a complete player. They could very well replicate that success with a guy like Johnson, who wants to get better and keep adding to his game.
San Antonio has been nailing late round draft picks for years now. We all expect the next Spurs draftee to turn into a really good player, and I could see that happening with Johnson at 29th overall.49
LOUIS KING
SF OREGON
San Antonio Spurs
Oregon freshman Louis King is one of the more underrated players in this draft. He played a good portion of his season with banged up knee, but still showed a lot of promise. He has great size and shooting ability at 6’9″, and landing to a team like San Antonio would be very beneficial for him as a rookie.

by Brian Rauf 2 hours ago [AKA 14 June 2019]
It would be so Spurs to select the best young player in Europe, wouldn’t it? Bitadze is the latest winner of the EuroLeague Rising Star award, given annually to the EuroLeague’s best young player. Bitadze even posted a better PER than last year’s winner, Luka Doncic (heard of him?). Given San Antonio’s philosophy and aging frontcourt, Bitadze is a perfect fit and could become a franchise cornerstone if he continues to develop.Okeke‘s stock was rising fast during Auburn’s run through March but he suffered a torn ACL in the Sweet 16 that will keep him out for most, if not all, of the 2019-20 season. That makes him something of a gamble in the first round but San Antonio could use a player with his athleticism, shooting, and versatility. Plus, they can afford to do that with two first-round picks.49) San Antonio Spurs – Jaylen Hoard, PF, Wake Forest

Pick #19 Mfiondu Kabengele - San Antonio Spurs
Kabengale is a 6-10 power forward who made 37% of his 3-pointers this season. The FSU product will turn 22 later this month, although most scouts believe that he still has room to improve further. The Spurs need depth, and the Canadian should be able to provide it.Pick #29 Luguentz Dort - San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs have plenty of guard depth, although Luguentz Dort is a Gregg Popovich type of player. He gives his all at both ends of the court, and his defensive work in college was especially impressive. Ultimately, a solid prospect for a late first-round pick.

19. San Antonio Spurs
Nassir Little: Combo Forward- UNC
The Spurs can draft for need while also grabbing one of the better players available. San Antonio needs modernizing and with the physical tools that Nassir Little possesses, there is a chance for a grand slam pick. Little is not much more than a ball of upside, as he showed little more than athleticism-related skill in college. This is a project that would take some serious time and is risky given the freshman’s low floor. However, the physical tools and San Antonio development team may be a match made in heaven.29. San Antonio Spurs (Via Toronto Raptors)
Dylan Windler: Forward- Belmont
After taking a low-floor, high-ceiling prospect earlier, the Spurs take the safe route here. Dylan Windler serves as the best player available at this stage and fills a need. Windler, at 6-foot-8, offers a desirable modern power forward option as he shot 43% from deep last season. The Belmont senior possesses a high IQ and the ability to grab rebounds at a great clip for his size.
a draft of Samanic, Cam and King would not be my ideal, but it would be better than expected

19. San Antonio Spurs – Brandon Clarke (6-8, 215, F, junior, Gonzaga)That might be the nightmare scenario.29. San Antonio Spurs – KZ Okpala (6-9, 215, F, sop re, Stanford)
I wouldn't mind Clarke at 19. I don't think they would take Okpala at 29 in that scenario though.
Clarke and Okpala might be a nightmare, or it might be great. Some people (The Stepien) think Clarke is the second best prospect in the draft. Some people think Okpala's a potential great... That's the thing with this draft, so many prospects that people don't agree on. We are just have to trust the PATFO to draft well.
On that we can all agree on.
these mock drafts are all over the place.
That’s because Of the boom or bust nature of these prospects. On top of that complicating matters is there is great potential for draft day trades.

19) Spurs: SF Grant Williams, Tennessee
This just feels like such a Spurs pick. Grant is one of the best pure basketball players in this class, can play multiple positions and has a high IQ. What he lacks in size he makes up for in strength, timing and smarts. His production was absolutely terrific, as he averaged 18.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.2 dimes, 1.1 steals and 1.5 blocks. This is a terrific landing spot and gives the Spurs another playmaker on the wings in the mold of someone like Kyle Anderson but with more range on his shot.29). Spurs: SG Luguentz Dort, Arizona State
The Pac-12 Rookie of the Year is built like an NFL player with a muscular 6-4, 222 pound frame. He showed an elite ability to get to the rim, but finishing the play was often a problem (51.8% at the rim). He’s a crafty ball-handler that can create his own shot with speed and shiftiness, but his jumper isn’t there just yet. Still, at No. 29 there’s a lot to be excited about here and the Spurs can bring him along slowly behind DeMar DeRozan.
agreed and i don't mind as it's adding anticipation to the actual draft.
Only thing looking forward to at moment. Free agency I expect to quiet. Just hope that this team finds a spark. So used to competing at a high level. Just making the playoffs seems irrelevant.
Can we just buy, steal, trade for the Sixers #33 and #34 picks and end up with :
Luka Samanic
KZ Okpala
Dylan Windler
Isiah Roby
Cris Wilkes
you could create a young front court to go with our young back court.
We’d see if the Spurs Player Development is as good as it used to be.
UPROXX: NBA Mock Draft 2019: What Every Team Should Do In The First Round
Brad Rowland 06.14.19
we’ll throw out the typical mock draft formula of attempting to recreate the actual order of what will transpire, instead leaning toward the choices that should be made19. San Antonio Spurs – Rui Hachimura (F, Gonzaga)
More than anything, I’d like to see Hachimura in San Antonio and that kind of dictates this pick. Candidly, I have Hachimura even lower than this on a theoretical big board but the Spurs might be able to unlock some of the potential, particularly in the area of basketball feel and awareness, for a player that does have intriguing physical traits. He’s 6’8 with a 7’2 wingspan and displays real athleticism. Maybe the Spurs can harness it.29. San Antonio Spurs (via Toronto) – Luka Samanic (F/C, Croatia)
The Spurs have enjoyed success with international prospects and Samanic’s skill level and basketball IQ would be enticing there. I’m not as high on the 6’10 big man as some others, but he’s a first-round talent and this is a soft landing spot for his skill set.

nbadraft.net nailed the Metu pick last year, projected it on every mock leading up to the draft. They have had Lecque up for the past few mocks recently. Maybe he’s the guy at 49.
Why not? He's an odd player that people can't really nail down. Sounds exactly like a Spurs pick.
