They are held accountable?? If only that were the case in Mexico... Mexico could place last and the people would still treat the players like kings... Pathetic really, stuff like that is what holds the sport back.
There was a guy carrying a 2x4... I couldn't guess why![]()

What's the favorite Sport of Argentina?
I rest my case.
Point proved.
What the does it matter if you played it first or not?? American's don't like it simply because American's love everything fast, neat and easy to understand, simple as that. Its a matter of tastes.![]()
It matters because Soccer pundits act like it's something we haven't discovered or something or are just trying to be different...
Here's the deal...we had organized Soccer here, before it was even popular in it's current form worldwide, before FIFA was even a Glint in Pele's eye...
It evolved into something different here, before it became the "World's Game". It had nothing to do with trying to be different...it had everything to do with what many here found more exciting...
And the millions of immigrants that have come here from Soccer loving countries, like England, Germany, and Mexico have also made the switch when given the choice....
NFL is to Soccer as Soccer is to Women's Soccer.at you trying to equate women football with mens!! for s sake, if I tried to equate WNBA with the NBA you would laugh at my face, but because this is football, a sport you haven't a clue about clearly, there is no poblem with the comparison huh?
Besides...it just shows how far ahead of the curve we are...wake me when the women in your enlightened soccer crazed country are fit to hold the bras of ours
And this proves what? The rest of the world are dumbasses who want to punish the innocent? Also, the US team needs all that protection because of political reasons that have nothing to do with the sport.
RIF...I qualified the statement with the word "American".oh yes, clearly you have football all firgured out huh? That's why Ivory Coast had such a great time against all white teams like Argentina, Holland (well they have a black guy, but not a very important one).
If American white guys liked walking or running...they wouldn't have invented cars.
Besides...the Dutch and Argentines don't speak English as a first language,...therefore they can't be white.
Sexist...no wonder you guys haven't evolved beyond Soccer yet.! again with the women football , pathetic. I have nothing against women football, but its kids games compared to men's football.
You people love baseball! BASEBALL!! and you're telling me football is the least sophisticated sport of all?? give me a ing break!!! You don't know about football!
Mother it is the least sophisticated...
And I know it's proper name is Soccer :Smokin
I'd also be willing to bet that I know a of a lot more about Soccer than you do about baseball...
I said arguably...Baseball is a lazy slowpaced game but it does have it's intense moments...You're telling me you think football has less adrenaline rush than baseball??? ... so stupid its hard to find a decent argument... but I guess that was what you intended. You clearly have no ing clue when it comes to football.
Oh yeah? Try making a basket with only your feet and see if you still agree.pfff... scoring a goal in football is ten times more heroic than anything you could do in basketball, and yet noone is claiming its the better sport.
Just because you don't understand what makes football exciting does not mean it isn't. Billions of people love football above any other sport,
Billions of people don't have a choice either.
Ahh here comes the typical Argentine arrogance...
I didn't sat it lacks it...I said it doesn't have as many of those moments as basketball and football do.but because Americans don't like it, all of a sudden it lacks in excitemetn and heroism! Do everyone a favor and don't comment on you clearly don't understand.
Football is not a sport where anyone can watch and be entertained. I disagree with you, I've watched games in which I have nothing invested, and found them incredible matches.
That's because it's part of your national self esteem.
blah blah blah I hate America.
I bet you have a tatoo of Che Guevera on your ass![]()
False...Soccer evolved into Football here before FIFA existed...before the popularity of the British exported form of Soccer had even come to frui ion...
Soccer went the way of Water Polo(which we pretty much invented in it's current form), Rugby, etc.
Um all Soccer requires is a ball...and no other equipment...it can be played anywhere. That's a not a valid reason for it's lack of popularity.Americans love sports that are fed to them by our media... sports that the urban population can excel in (where most basketball stars come from - the inner city) and in the case of rural America football and baseball...
The Media has crammed Soccer down the American publics throat for years...The media traditionally held back soccer broadcasts because they couldn't make enough money out of them... They suffered from a lack of sponsorships because the game was continual, had no breaks, and only had one intermission. Compare with Baseball, Football, and Basketball where millions of dollars are made off of commercials during 'time-outs'.... it's complicated and not as black and white as it would seem.
We have always had pro leagues here...
We had Pele here. They covered it...no one cared compared to the other sports.
$$$$ talks... but so does uncomfort; the thought of having to embrace different cultures... Americans simply don't like it. We'd rather other cultures embrace us... or our sports heroes 'ala Jordan. We export philosophies and markets but not sports stars.
Um...this is the most false statement I have ever read...every culture is ethnocentric...Amerca probably least so...
We tend to embrace progressive and intelligent aspects of cultures and dismiss ty ones.
Case in point: We welcome Mexican food here with open arms...but wholesale reject the idea of bring Mexican Government here.
And we ourselves are an exported philosophy and market.
And by the way...so is Soccer...it didn't simultaneously emerge in it's current form everywhere...it was a British export.
Most U.S. stars like the Reggie Bushes, Shaqs, Kobes, the Lebrons, the A.I.s, T.O.s, <--- your typical super athletes live a life catered around them and the superfluous eccentricities provided by this country... some to the outlandish and unneccesary 'bling-bling' extent...
Notice how your Peyton Mannings, your Pete Sampras', even your Tiger Woods', and why not, Tim Duncan himself <--- whose games are predicated more on skill don't live by this precarious lifestyle... they're also not the most popular... (If Tiger where 'white' he would just be another Greg Norman, or another Jack Nicklaus -- but the mainstream sports audience would not be after his every move).
And you don't think this is true of Soccer stars in other countries? I bet it is.
Guess your weren't being facetious afterall....
hmmm
I'll reply when I get more time... I actually have a soccer game to play and I'm late...![]()
For real.
For now I'll just address the ''most false statement you've ever read'' part...
I was talking about people... everything else in your comment dealt with philosophies... not people.. or in this case sports stars...
I couldn't imagine LeBron trying to play in the Spanish Basketball League (if they happened to overtake the NBA in terms of prestige - which I know wouldn't happen) and going out of his way to try to adjust to their culture... I just don't see this happening... America's stars were never about that. Never have been. In fact, I can't think of any bonified American sports star who became a star in another country and not here.
So they seek money here in proven sports... nothing wrong with that... again it's a neutral systemic problem that happens to hamper the growth of US soccer.

Soccer's fun to play...have fun.
I hope I don't break a leg....later.
Damn Manny's a tough one to bait today...he's a credit to SoccerFan.
This ought to be at least as entertaining as the average Soccer matchCurrently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 4 (4 members and 0 guests)

whottt, WTF is up with you dude????
You used to be smart
Poland was one of the biggest disappointments in the World Cup so far.
The US was in a really difficult group, but they still tried hard to win every game.
now its Italy's turn to go down to the AUSSIES (of course there cant be a draw) !!!
AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE
OI OI OI
the USA-Italy 1-1 draw gives us some hope for the round of 16
No way, Guus is not better than Van Gaal.
daynel - don't try to be too smart

disappointment => expectations
no expectations => no disappointment
If he's saying Poland was a disappointment, he's implying something better was expected from them. I agree with him. And personally, if I were Polish, it's the alternative I would find hurtful.
I don't see the big deal, its only Soccer....I mean its not like playing the US in Baseball!!
oh wait...
I mean, uh...its not like playing the US in Basketball!!
Oh....wait.....ah never mind.

Hey, we're still the best at American football!
I was at a big plastics show in Chicago this week... on Tuesday morning, there was not a German engineer to be seen on the floor... ALL of them were in the lounge area watching the game.
And even as loud as dozens of molding machines running simultaneously might be, the screams of glee when Germany scored could be heard above it all.
I'm so used to the stoic, serious German temperament that it was quite strange to see men in three-piece suits and spectacles jumping around and dancing.
Go Tunisia Go
Spain scores a goal!!
Man...the refs is this Tunisia Ukraine match are the worst I have seen.
