it's indicative of the team's approach to marketing the team and how the fans are viewed, along with jacking up the prices of tickets.
True enough since ABC owns espn and they are the ones brodcasting these games you'd think that they would try and keep that under wraps.

San Antonio: $43,263

not saying it is but to eliminate the possiblity what's wrong with it? If it works they are marketing geniuses if it fails the SPONSORS still get advertising..
in my case....if i could afford it I WOULD BE there...with or without a TSHIRT!!

sure, which ones are included in the SA MSA?
also, link?
I guess with the price of gas what it is, people need help with clothing.

while you at it throw the dog a bone....free WHATABURGERS!!!
I'd say something was wrong with San Antonians if that's why a WCF game doesn't sell out.not saying it is but to eliminate the possiblity what's wrong with it?
If you don't want a pro basketball team in your town, this is how to show it.
I'm not sure about anyone else, but over the last several years, I found myself wanting to go to the games less. I mean, I have about $200 a year I can spend on sporting events. That's 2-3 Spurs games really. For that same amount I can go to 10-12 Rampage/Missions games.
The second option is better bang for my buck, especially since I can watch the Spurs on TV, but there is no TV coverage of the Rampage and Missions (even to barely a blip on the news coverage).
Maybe my willingness to compromise like that makes me less of a Spurs fan, but that's how it is for me.
Sadly, the simplest reason is probably the most likely.
It's the match-up.
To make it even sadder it is probably from lack of the other team's fans.
If this were the Lakers, Mavs, Rockets, Suns or even Nuggs, many of those tickets would be bought by the transplants and bandwagoners.
NOW THIS THREAD IS GOING SOMEWHERE!!!

Really what they should have done after game 1 was not a sellout was drop the prices quite a bit for the lesser sections and put that on their site and take out huge ads in the papers get that info to the people and i am sure they would have sold out for tonight no problem. I'd rather lose a couple bucks if i was the owner than face the embarassment of another non-sell out West final game. Looks like there is no doubt it will be another non-sell out tonight. I just went to Spurs.com and punched in 10 tickets and i could have got them, too bad i am thousands of miles way. This is pretty SAD![]()
Every county that touches Bexar, and that's it.
Which reminds me, during one of the games this past weekend, who laughed when one of the commentators mispronounced Bexar?
i don't know what's with SA's problem with not filling up the center. I know for sure if I only had one final tomorrow i definitely would buy tickets for tonight and go. I'm even tempted to go tonight even though I have stuff to do. I'd even go if the only this that was left was nose bleed seats (unfortunately they are). Come on SA get your act together and root for your Spurs! I mean seriously is this not the same city that wated 4+ hours in advance to fill up the entire riverwalk and Alamodome in the championship parade and ceremony, with some people rushing over from the parade to the Alamodome? Is this not the same SA that would go downtown and celebrate a championship by honking and cheering until 3AM? I don't know what to think about our lack of attendance, but if attendance is crappy maybe a loss tonight would get Spurs fans' attention.

Exactly, Same here. And the same happened to many more. I do blame Ticketmaster for the 1st game, this here is proof of that. People thought they were sold out and that's what they were told for both Games 1 and 2. That's a fact. Period.
I think yesterday was too early to panic about Game 2. All the talk and criticism about the Game 1 non-sellout made this an issue (news worthy), (without disclosing that thousands of people were told that nothing was available).
Now that they are letting people know that tickets are still available, after all (without admitting the Ticketmaster foul up) I'm sure everything will be fine. It was only 1000 tickets available yesterday, not 3000. There is still today's sales and the walk-up crowd.
If you get NBA League Pass, you can still watch them play at the SAVVIS Center.
San Antonio is apparently too poor to know what that is.
Still....
$5,730 will buy you some nice tickets.
so the spurs have to count on attracting members of relatively more affluent households from outside of their 'home county' while the jazz can concentrate their efforts on those within their 'home county'.
The games are sellouts. What they call 'sellout' is actually 'capacity crowd'. Meaning, every available ticket has been scanned at the gates. There were empty seats during game 2 -vs- Suns. I was there, I saw them. They were empty the entire game. Some of 'em pretty good seats too.
So apparently the key to getting Spurs fans earning over $100K a year to go to Spurs games is to give them free clothing and food, since they can't afford to feed or clothe themselves on account of high gas prices.
Sorry, there were unsold tickets for Game 1. Having scores of paid-for, but empty, seats is routine at Spurs games.

)
a business should buy the rest and give them away !
I bet tickets would sell out if a gas station would donate a full tank of gas for everyone at the game! or even $30 dollars worth of gas!
Do people in San Antonio not have a ing credit card?
Sheesh I am sure as glad I don't live there anymore. It will always be home but its too poor for me.
Yes, everyone knows the best thing to do when you're broke, is to go into debt!![]()

Do they give out free T-shirts and food when you give blood in SA, or is that only in wealthy cities?
So how often does a chance like this come around. going in debt for sixty dollars with a minimum payment of $10.00 aren't the Spurs worth it?![]()
If you think you will never have then you have defeated yourself because you will never have.
well americanEXPRESS you!
too po? i think SA within the last couple of years had mad strides in that department. (i just got otta school i know stuff) they are up theres competing with houston now!
Maybe we could just have Cuban give us all the unused Mavericks NBA Championship T-shirts then we could turn them inside-out and do them up with Sharpies.
Nah, we can't afford Sharpies.
60$? for one .....us messycans travel in packs u see
I'm glad to hear that miss. I moved away 13 years ago because all I saw was fatness and poorness. Its about time SA progressed. I wouldn't go so far as competing with Houston but lets face the reality San Antonio is known for being po'dunk. I still love SA but I hate to read that a game can't sell out. Its a travesty and a shame. I was born and raised in San Antonio so I have every flippin right to express my opinion!! Case closed.
it's interesting how all of sudden san antonio is brimming with upper middle class basketball agnostic professionals pulling in $200K+ annually.
dang ...(with no foul ups).by game time it'll sell out!
*ima gonna go get me an amex card and buy up all the remaining seats for my pack......see prollem solved...
In Houston, you get a T-shirt, cookies, and orange juice just for giving blood. You don't even have to buy tickets to an NBA playoff game!
Someday San Antonio will get there too.
It's interesting how all of the sudden the Spurs can't sell out a WCF game.
i guess buddy 'chamber of commerce' holly's orgasmic rants about the greatness of san antonio de bexar have come true.
it was a suggestion, you can't handle it, thats your problem
and its MEXCUN not messicans.![]()
