Great. Now we can outbid Dallas for Ian.
You have to be kidding. I live in Dallas and am familiar with press on this lazy pothead's antics. Coach Pop would kill this asshat in a week.
So the Spurs have this:
To offer this:
Josh Howard
Ronnie Brewer
Matt Barnes
Rasual Butler
Pete Mickeal
James Jones
Bobby Simmons
Tracy McGrady
Jarvis Hayes
Bostjan Nachbar
Rodney Carney
Stephen Graham
Alan Anderson
Devin Brown
Antoine Wright
Joey Graham
Keith Bogans
Damien Wilkins
Hmmmmm.
For what it's worth, Wojo didn't have year-by-year salaries, though I suppose Don could just be guessing.
Not only did they get Splitter on a low starting salary, it looks like he didn't get max raises per year either.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/s...medium=twitter"If I stayed in Spain I could have made more money," Splitter said. "But this is my moment."
I'm noting a pattern here.
South American guys excel in Europe then come to the Spurs.
Then they don't want to be paid what they're worth.
Then they (quietly) wow the league.
Then the Spurs win another le.
"We're very fortunate to be adding one of the best players not playing in the NBA," Spurs general manager R.C. Buford said before introducing Splitter.
get me barnes and rasul or bell and call it a summer
He got max raises (8%).
A $10.9M max raises contract is:
Year 1: $3,364,198
Year 2: $3,633,333
Year 3: $3,902,469
great signing for this price, surely the best quality / price ratio of the summer
The bolded guys don't interest me at all, I'd pass without thinking twice..
I would be fine with Rasual Butler..I wouldn't mind James Jones, Josh Howard or Ronnie Brewer..
I wouldn't be angry if they got Barnes, but I would rather not..
McGrady can go either way..he's one of the worst defenders in the NBA at this point, but he could probably play some point forward for 10-15 minutes a game for this team..I'd rather not get him, but I wouldn't be angry..
Not exactly good pickings here..

NBA Source: Splitter contract is for 10.9 million over 3 years. 3.4,3.6,3.9 million per. Great buy. Leaves Spurs room to pursue Raja Bell.
------
will everyone get Raja Bell out of their head he is 6'5, I don't care if he was/is a good defender he is too short, the Spurs need a legit back up SF , 6'7 or taller
Although it's a great bargain for the Spurs, he's still pretty much doubling what he made last year in Spain. Seems like a win/win for everyone.
We're lucky Splitter wanted to play here. I suspect the the Spurs said 'if you want the full mle, it gotta be for 5 seasons'. And I think it could have turned ugly if there was a standoff over that.
But that's over with now, and I'm glad Splitter is on board
Yeah, I have to agree. Very disappointing and of the 6 you have left as decent, probably half will get some stupid contracts.
Good job by the Spurs, but the market burned them badly. I still cannot believe in this market that no one wants RJ![]()
He could probably have signed for twice as much on a team like Real Madrid though... And in Europe those contracts are normally completely tax free.
We got a good deal.
Even if he completely flops, which is unlikely, this is extremely low risk/high reward. Great job by the FO.
The problem with that is that there isn't a lot of 6'7" or more SFs available.
chadfordinsider Is there a reverse KAHHHHHHN!? RT @mhaubs Splitter is unbelievable steal at 3/10.9. Less than Darko? Same as Petro/Mozgov? You kidding me?
IMO, this contract allows for the Spurs to make a trade and bring back a little more salary. I believe that with who is left at SF, the Spurs will have to make a trade in order to balance the team and give them a legit shot at competing for a le.
We're re-signing Money Mase. You heard it here first...
