Hard to find excuses for the Magic's effort, not like they're tired since its their 2nd game of the season and they didn't play heavy minutes from destroying the Arenas-less Wizards. This was a game that the Magic FO were really preparing for, lol @ SVG and Otis talking over the summer...something about coaches and GM's talking when they haven't won a ring seems pathetic. Particularly Otis after all the questionable contracts and deals they've given.
While the Heat's defense was incredibly impressive their shot selection was ty since they shot so many long jumpshots...imo thats what opposing teams want to happen rather than give 'em points in the paint.
Dwight looks better offensively but tonight showed when he focuses on that end he sacrifices way too much on the other and time will tell if he's got a respectable jumper or if that was basically luck. I can see why Stan Van Gundy had limited his touches in the past since they need Dwight to focus on defense and rebounding --- no one on their team comes close in those areas.
Magic need a legitimate star thats a playmaker and can create his own shot but I don't see it happening considering the Magic's assets and their history (Wince, Shard, etc). Jameer looks like a horrible fit next to Dwight and they have too many roleplayers with the same skills and none of them can really penetrate the lane or pass well. I don't think Melo or Igoudala really addresses both their passing and shot creation problems but they would be an upgrade...crazy that even with one of those players that the Magic still wouldn't have enough...a healthy CP3 and D-will seem like much better fits but good luck getting those franchises to deal 'em.
