Diaw highlight video billed as 'before he got fat"

    http://www.totallyfunfreestuff.com/D...px?pid=1419175

Uh oh. When your highlight vid made by a fan has a comment like that, maybe....

Oh, well, lets hope the Spurs family will shape him up in time to make a contribution.

I applaud the Spurs FO for continuing to tweak the roster, so I'm not going to pooh-pooh Diaw - yet. However, I'm not convinced about him, for all the reasons others have stated. Dude passes up open shots, penchant for laziness and has never kept himself in shape.

Another 6'8" guy on the roster? Pop is set to play small-ball as long as he wants.

I know Diaw was all that was available to the Spurs, but I don't see how he helps in a tough, physical playoff matchup versus a team like, say the Grizzlies or Fakers.

The concern is that tihs roster is still devoid of an athletic big man. I guess we'll have to wait until free agency.

Awesome. Roster complete. Time to get healthy and get ready for the stretch run.
No, one more signing. D-League signing. Basically an early training camp invitation (a la, Danny Green and Da'Sean Butler last year).

But for effective manpower - yes, we're done.

Solid signing, i really wanted kaman here but since no had no intensions of buying him out, diaw was the best spurs can get

Hopefully he can play some asap for the upcoming brutal stretch especially if bonner is gonna be out a while, we needed frontcourt help desperately

The Spurs have improved greatly this season: trade away RJ and Hill (mental midgets), grab Kawhi, SJax, Diaw and Mills... This team looks like a contender at last.
Dont be a jackass. I know he made your boy Parker look bad in the 09-10 season but no need to be so butthurt about it. Hes gone and we got a solid player who fills a bigger need in return. Let it go .

As far as the signing goes, as long as he takes time away from either Blair or Bonner or both this is good. If he takes any of Splitters minutes Ill be pissed tbh.

    More Jeff McDonald breaking news:

Boris Diaw will be in the building tonight when Spurs face Mavs. Not sure yet if he'll be in uniform or, if so, whether he'll play.

If this trade does nothing else, it should push Blair to work harder and be more aggressive both offensively and defensively over fear of being completely phased out. I think its a win-win.

Why wouldn't he play tonight? It's not like there are a lot of days in between games to get a practice in first.

It was reported to be for the rest of the season, so I'm sure it's for the pro-rated vet min.

Diaw has the Olympics coming up, has a contract to play for, playing with his best friend...that's a lot to motivate the guy. Bucks have been our Trojan horse to the rest of the league this deadline, keeping Jackson and Diaw under wraps so we could get them for chump change. imo both these guys still have a lot of juice left, and will make some big contributions on what should be a long playoff run.

I agree ideally you'd want a bigger player with better defense. But there are positives. Diaw is an excellent passer and is able to create offense for himself and others. He has a post game and long arms which allows him to play bigger than 6'8. He can run point center. I think it would be nice to use him as a point center for the second unit and allow Splitter to start for better defense.

Last time we said that was in '09 when RC got RJ and Dice and somewhat in '10 when he got Splitter. Pop's got plenty of good cards. Let's see how he plays them. For one will he be able to overcome his Bonner love to put the best players on the floor?

Good pickup. He's still not the big man we need, but he'll be a nice piece to our team.

We got K-Leonard out of it. Keeping T-Park and trading G-Hill also allowed us to keep R-Jeff and subsequently trade for S-Jax. Ive come around on that trade and am gladly eating crow right now tbh.

Glad we signed diaw. I think he improves our roster. Think he would help no matter what. On a side note, it is a shame that I am addicted to these online forums now - the level of stupidity on these things are appalling(not talking about ST in particular).
