Gary Neal was one of the worst players in the NBA in 2013, this is a fact that can be proven with numbers, tbh..
I already said he was a bargain, though, I agree..

because he's a role player
So one of the worst player of the year had an incredible game in the Finals while injured...
I don't understand Spurs fans, I mean whenever a role player like Dejuan Blair or Gary Neal fuc* up, they get crucified. If a star player like Manu Ginobili fuc* up, then all is good. Manu having 8 turnovers in Game 6 against the cHeat is ok but Gary Neal taking a bad shot is not ok? Spurs homers at their best. So pathetic.
Yes, he had a hot game in the Finals, he was horrible the rest of 2013, not sure what's so complicated..
He was extremely inefficient in 2013, shooting atrociously embarrassing percentages from the field, along with being one of the 5 worst perimeter defenders in the entire league, tbh..

I'll give him a pass because he was hurt and his contract never hurt the Spurs, but these are facts, tbh..in addition to being a rapist, which is a type of person I'd rather not cheer for, tbh..
That's defamation, the guy was proven innocent.
But yeah Gary is one of the very best shooter in the league and was far from being one of the worst players last year.
Gary is underrated for sure. He was never scared to just pull up 3 and he hit em like it was automatic. I guess his size hurt his longevity on the team. Hopefully, Beli can take us to the promised lands again
Gary can win a game for you.
Not so many bench players can do that.
Hope he will stay.
Neal was a beast with a sweet sweet jumper. I bet on a bad team he will average at least 18 a la Kevin Martin. Good luck buddy and thanks for the Neal with its
Hmmmmm . . .
Still no news on Neal.
Do the Spurs have him locked up? Just waiting out developments to determine the details?
Could the conventional wisdom here be that wrong?Or not . . .
This. He's a poster boy for persistence and patience. I'm glad to see his ship come in.
One dimensional horrible defender, he got beat so many times by the other guys player he gave up more than he made at times, his shot selection was horrible too sometimes (Some of the dumbest threes I have seen). He was a volume shooter, I would hardly call him a beast.
I agree thanks Neal and you had some good games! He was very limited though.
You sir are correct. He is also one dimensional, can't drive at all and run the backup PG which POP tried with him. I wish him well though.Everything Monta can do?
I do understand fans, I mean whenever a player, coach or anything is associated with the team s up then some part of the fan base will criticize the en y in question. If another fan disagrees, the initial fan will play the martyr card and act like the rest of the fanbase are fanboys and le themselves 'realists.'
It's a cliche nowadays fueled by sports media --especially rradio-- that is overwhelmingly annoying.
everything on the court I mean. Neal doesn't smoke dopes or tattoo for fun in his life.
Neal cant drive in the lane at all though.
All he had was that 2 dribble pull up.
So can Marco. Move on.
I expected both Gary Neal and the Spurs organization to move on from each other, and so they apparently have. But let me say this:
Gary came into camp a few years ago, and nobody knew who he was. Just another former college player looking to make it big after a few years oversees.
He came, he played, he conquered. The Spurs signed him for pennies on the dollar.
This man was never the most talented on the floor, but he came out every night with the biggest heart of anyone.
He never complained. He was never a distraction. He never pretended to be something he wasn't. He was just Gary Neal.
People tried (and failed) to compare him to Roger Mason Jr. This kid was ice cold. Had bigger onions than most players making millions.
So here we are... 3 years later. One incredible game saving shot to keep a series alive. One amazing 3 PT onslaught to help secure a win in the finals.
He was never expected to amount to anything, but he is a warrior. He is the example of a dream come true for many young NBA fans all over the world.
So say what you want about him. We can go over his deficiencies on defense. We can analyze his propensity for wild shots. Or...
We can simply be satisfied with an incredible shooter who fell into our laps, all the while earning what amounts to about $2M over 3 years.
God bless you Gary, and good luck in the future.
^^ Amazing post. I'm sad to see Neal go, but I guess the Spurs did the right move by taking Marco. Neal is a baller and he's never afraid to take the big shots when it mattered. God Bless.
