I doubt it. the texans went from historically poor defensively to a perennial juggernaut in his time there. that team was a greasefire in his last season there and they were still a top 10 yardage defense. his 3 year deal expired as O'Brien took over, and he wanted his own guy.

They were great his first season, but went downhill from there. His defenses couldn't stop any elite QBs to save his life.

texans fans blamed the cushing injury for the poor defense... but now its convenient to throw wade under the bus

Cushing getting hurt led to the defense getting gashed with the run. The corners were still getting torched because Wade would play them 5-7 yards off the receivers.

or because they weren't very good. the texans were literally one of the worst defenses in NFL history the year before he took over

Those same corners looked better under Crennel. Not a coincidence they had the most takeaways.

Crennel is also one of the best in the business... if you want to say Romeo>Phillips thats fine. but Wade is a damn good coordinator, especially how late into the coaching exchange we're in right now

not bad. Nolan will probably become the defensive coordinator when they promote Pagano to head coach

Raiders hire Seahawks linebackers coach ken Norton Jr as defensive coordinator. He played with del rio in Dallas.

Seahawks promote DB coach kris Richards to d coordinator

Del Rio's running the defense. Norton has done a good job with linebackers going back to his USC days and recently with Seattle. He'll probably have more responsibility each coming year.

    Oh. Ok.

...anyway this is a pretty cool piece that analyzes the raiders defensive unit (assuming we convert our defense to Seattle's base scheme). most of their player analysis seems pretty good, except I don't think they should cut Tyvon Branch this season. he'd be a good in the box safety

I was hoping the Raiders (or some other team) would hire Matt Patricia
