40-45 FPS is about what I'd expect to get in new games with my 970 at 1440p. Right on that borderline where I wonder if a 1440p GSync monitor makes any sense since I don't want to do SLI.
It's really smooth.. When combined with a high refresh rate it's so clear when you move, especially in first person shooters. You can start to tell the frame rate is slowing down around 40-45 FPS. The monitor has 85, 100, 120, 144 refresh rates, you gotta pick the closest one to what your game runs at and it works it magic. The ultra low motion blur is nice too, but it kills the brightness of the screen too much IMO so pass for higher refresh instead.

That's crazy. Even new GPUs can't handle the games coming out. This has to be a first for gaming.
Not following. What's crazy about 40-45 FPS at 1440p?
I mean, I realize 1440p is pretty demanding, but it's scary to think that a new mid-high range GPU won't run games @ 60fps. 1440p is almost the standard now although 4k is probably going to eclipse it before it actually gets there.
Just wonder how much more powerful cards will have to become to accommodate gaming at 4k with 60fps.
I meant the most demanding games at ultra when I said that, I should have clarified. Stuff like Dying Light, Crysis 3, Dragon Age Inquisition on ultra, which no card other than an X can give a locked 60FPS at in 1440p.
But 4k ultra at a locked 60 FPS on a single card? Maybe with Pascal's an if they get their node shrink down finally.
Well, it stands to reason that 4k gaming will be the standard at some point. Gaming has always been ahead of the tech curve. But 4k is pretty insane, I wonder what we'll see to make that happen.
I thought the top Radeon card (7990, IIRC) was actually more powerful than the an?
Edit: http://elchapuzasinformatico.com/wp-...vs- an-1.png
The original an is a joke, it was a significantly cut down 780 Ti and my 970 is more powerful at 1/3 the price. The 7990 isnt a singe GPU card; it's dual 7970 on a single PCB. AMD's best single GPU right now is probably the MSI Lightning R9 290x and their flagship is the watercooled R9 295x2, with dual R9 290x on a single PCB.

Speaking of the R9 295x2, it's crazy cheap right now if you want a monster CF setup. I have seen it as low as $600.
Haha. Tempting, but I'm actually saving up for when the Rift comes out. When it drops, I'm going to build a serious system around it with some oopmh. No point in upgrading now for me, cause I'm just going to want to build a system again in a year or less anywhere, whenever it comes out.

Pre-SLI days it was pretty common. There just been a big bump in resolution these days, but they'll catch up.
They just made a console G-Sync monitor.. it's designed to help games feel even more cinematic when framerates drop below 20 FPS
Yeah, what were high end systems pulling in Crysis 1 maxed out at release date? 18 FPS or something?
Finally got my hands on a PS4 last month. Dying Light is pretty damn cool. Especially early on when you don't know what the you're doing and get caught out in the middle of nowhere when night time creeps up on you. I felt like Charlton Heston in Omega Man...without a gun.
Yup, that first time it gets dark and you hear that ing hunter scream to signal it's officially night time..they nailed it, I just wanted to get back to the tower![]()
Yeah, the ing volatiles are brutal before you've gotten high level weapons and techniques.
Started playing this again now that there is a hard mode and I gotta say this game has replayability imo...I am still enjoying the main story through a second time and I have actually found a few side things I missed the first time. Also more QZs now and I'm sure there are other things I'm missing, I'm still only about level 8-9 in everything and only just escaped The Pit for the first time, about to head to Old Town. Hard mode has some annoyances with it besides an increased difficulty. My flashlight turns off a lot and the way medkits are used is different. Plus there's no "spidey-sense" or whatever you call it![]()
