Can't you just post this in the Cory Joseph appreciation thread? Of course this doesn't compare to what Ray McCallum has done for the Kings. Neither will this do anything to comparisons between both point guards. Sure, Ray McCallum is untested but the Spurs' front office knows what it's doing, the same trust each fan should repose in them when they drafted Joseph, a relatively unknown, back in 2011. This stuff just reminds me of apalisoc reminding everyone how great Splitter was in the Aldridge and West threads. I don't think fans lack any appreciation at all. Do the posters have to all say thank you before a player leaves and gets replaced? Yeesh, "true fans". Or those who feel like they are.

Is he scared to dribble North/South...cause....I mean....I liked CoJo and all but sometimes....dude would get hung up on the perimeter moving laterally.

He was not a bad defender though and that Ibaka posterize is all-time great.

But yeah...he seemed scared to handle the ball at times.

In most situations, I think it's a useful tool. But last year's Kings team was such a dumpster fire that I wouldn't trust any statistic associated with that team. You had players quitting on coaches. Coaches quitting on players. An owner meddling with coaches. And about the worst chemistry imaginable.

Cory Joseph wouldn't be signing a $30 million deal if he played for the Kings last year, let's just put it that way.

That doesn't mean it does a perfect job at it. And as Harlem says, it's completely agnostic to context. Simply having a higher RPM doesn't make you a better player, and especially not a better fit.

Bringing up numbers to show what a guy did with one of the worst organizations in basketball is a bit misleading...I'm not saying he'll break out and be some high quality backup PG, but there's more to it than just RPM. The Spurs are a heavily analytics-based organization - I guarantee you they've seen every number imaginable regarding this guy

It's not as easy as "Oh this guy ranked terribly according to RPM, he must be worthless as a player". Clearly they see something they like, and more often than not, that means good things for us as Spurs fans.

Regardless, we gave up a pick in the 55-60s. How many players selected in that range end up being actual NBA players who can contribute any whatsoever? Don't see how anyone could dislike or criticize this trade tbh. As others have said, I'm just glad we went after a young guy with upside as opposed to some old POS like Andre Miller.

As someone who lives about 40 minutes away from Sac, I've seen my share of the kid and he's a solid pickup for our third string PG. He won't embarrass himself when he gets a spot start or two once Pop rests TP. He can play some D though not as well as CoJo but he's a better passer and floor general than him. PATFO strike again!
