Just saw the dunks.![]()
What i loved about RC and Pop is that they opted for young, if unproven, 3rd stringers that we could wring something out in our system..I don't think the motley crew of washed up vets like Caron Butler or Tashyun Prince or Andre Miller would have helped or proved any more useful or durable for the 82 games hassle...Either way we are going to likely see a bump in the usage of our main wing combo Kawhi/Green health-permitting..
Yep..wanted some guys in their mid to late 20s, and Simmons seems perfect..no more ty, washed-up scrubs like the players you mentioned..
We needed to get younger too, tbh. I'm pretty sure we're the oldest team in the league. We need young guys who can spell our old farts for a lot of regular season minutes. I could see Simmons getting some serious burn this year, more than your average 3rd string SG, especially on back-to-backs.
I hope Simmons could get to Iman Shumpert level, they have similar skils set i think but JS will need to improve outside shot like Shump did...
I was thinking the same thing, hopefully he doesn't have any big issues like being gay or something weird like that(Yes I know he has a daughter, it was just something that is talked about quite often these days.)
Seems like the Spurs are the only one's paying attention to D league tbh, hopefully it's not a coincidence that he is playing the best basketball of his life right now and when training camp comes around he comes back to earth.
I like this kid a lot, and seems to have a real good at ude and a little mean streak to him. If he can turn into the next Tony Allen, I would be thrilled.
Thank you, my lord and savior for another beautiful morning.
Damm! He is NBA ready IMO. Call him up and send Evita to Vegas
Tony Allen is the low bar. Tony Allen is extremely dedicated to his defensive craft, he studies every player he's assigned to guard. He's athletic, but with next to zero skills, but he's carving out a niche in the NBA. If Jonathon works as hard as Tony, it's guaranteed that he'll be as good or better. It just takes a lot of work, but it is obvious by now that Simmons has the personality to put in that work. Becky is having both KA and Simmons work their butt out in SL which is absolutely great!! Think about it, a lot of back to back games and you have to delivery almost every night. If either Anderson or Simmons has a bad game, the Spurs lose and get eliminated. They got one more game to win. Let's see if they still have the fight left, love it!
It's no coincidence Simmons wears the 9 in my sig, tbh.
Beautiful day to win a championship.

Here is Shumpert top 10 plays:
Do you notice the difference between him and Simmons?
Simmons doesn't need two feet to soar. Simmons can score with both hands.
They are the same size though, Shumpert has a larger wingspan but Simmons has higher standing reach. Shumpert is a better defender but in terms of offense, at this stage Simmons is better due to having more ways to score. Shumpert in offense was virtually non-existent in the finals.
Simmons is raw, in terms of game that translate to the league i don't think that Simmons has more ways to score right now cause Shumpert has more consistent jumper and is solid driver and playmaker, right now Simmons is a Kent Bazemore type but i hope he will work on his three and D skill to add to his slashing ability so he would be more polish and maybe improve version of Shumpert...
Shumpert doesn't have a consistent jumper tho, far from it. I'm not saying Simmons does or doesn't, cause the sample size is small, but Shump doesn't. And like I said, sample size too small and against inferior talent, but Simmons has uncanny ability to drive and finish with his left. Might be his best attribute tbh. Shump doesn't have that.
Look at the spot where Simmons is taking off:
You can't do that with two feet. Not if you are just doing a layup, you can take off from much farther away.
Add this to the fact that Simmons can either do left or right hand.
With Shumpert, he's one dimensional in offense, scout him once and you take away his comfort zone. That's why in the NBA finals, he did next to nothing in offense.
Sigh.... I'll miss the daily dose of Simmons slam dunking!
When was the last time a player went from almost complete obscurity to fan favorite in a matter of a few days, tbh? Glad Simmons is on our squad though. What a showing the past 10 days.
Pops Mensah Bosu tbqh
Shumpert can't drive for and he's a mediocre shooter, you ing piece of trash..
Well, it's not the NBA season yet, so not everyone really is paying attention to this. The most recent known obscurity to somebody was the Jeremy Linsanity that lasted a couple of weeks.
I feel like Simmons and Coach Hammon should come together and make the ultimate Spurs Baby.
