The team-of-snipers theory, nonetheless, was repeated in media accounts, including with police-attributed information that multiple snipers positioned themselves on elevated ground to triangulate and hit their targets.
What had happened instead was Johnson, a military veteran who served in Afghanistan, used armed combat shooting techniques from a position on the ground to shoot cops one by one.

Gunman doesn't get taken down at 1:00. Someone off screen is shooting at him but he clearly makes it out of frame alive.

It was also reported the sniper was shooting from the roof of a garage, I also heard a sniper was on another building. In that clip, the guy was on the ground shooting.
Im trying to figure out how he got from the roof, to the ground and back up so fast. I don't think this guy was alone.

I think most of the shooting heard is echoes off the buildings multiplying the shots and makes it difficult to know where the actual shots are coming from. I hate driving downtown and hearing a siren because you can't tell where its coming from until it's right on you.
I'm sure it happens but not nearly often enough. The good cops aren't going to call out the bad cops. No one wants to get Frank Serpico'd or be "the rat" like Joe Crystal. If you're in a bad police department like Ferguson calling out bad probably ends your career and at the least gets you harrassed if there's the unwritten "code of silence" rule.
