    I think you mean "sympathize".

Fuzzy isn't sympathizing, but grandstanding and belittling. Maybe you don't know the difference. For all the bleeding a liberal's heart does, it doesn't seem to donate any of it.

That's what Fuzzy is saying, "you're poor and conservative which is a joke since the stereotypical conservative is rich, so you're being kept poor by your own ignorance that you support. I'm not poor and look at how smart I am and my intelligence leads me to be a caring liberal who's first impulse when cornered is to big time you with my inheritance and belittle you with your choice of profession, which of course I don't really even need a profession because I was smart enough to be born into a more affluent family so I understand poverty and pulling yourself up by the bootstraps. My boots just happen to be custom made of alligator"

For some reason board liberals see that differently than someone saying to a poor black person "just keep a positive at ude, no wonder you're doing bad, you're depending on welfare and you further the elements in society that keep you were you are" -Rich white guy
    Referring to Reck.

And I mean empathize. You don't need to feel sympathy, just be able to try and share the situation and how you might deal with it.

For example: I believe I had/have a greater advantage at succeeding in the US because:

    1. I'm male
    2. I'm White
    3. My father made enough money to send me to college and graduate school without taking out a loan. Huge advantage.
    4. I was LUCKY in that what I was intensely interested and worked very hard at turned out to be marketable.
    5. I was LUCKY because I was at the right places at the right time and met exactly the right people who understood my particular skills in an area that pays well and is a joy.
    6. I am lucky to be healthy and work hard to keep it that way.
    7. The things outside of work that I love are very inexpensive (except for airfare.)

Unlucky in that I never really had a mom that was well...So it seems to me based on what I listen to from others.

So when I look at others that struggle in different ways, I use myself as a reference point (go figure) and I realize I could have been in very poor shape and life could be very much harder for me. (And it may turn out that life will be difficult) But so far... Things have gone horribly right for me. This I believe very deeply. (Although I never win anything at raffles or drawings. But, I have also avoided being struck by lightning)

As a consequence. Taxes don't bother me. The ac ulation of wealth from very hard workers with great ideas does not bother me (I think this pursuit in the cases I have witnessed is an hetical to happiness in many cases). I don't really believe people in my type of position are in danger of having rights torn away from them easily in this country. I can't stand bad information and the intent to deceive because it goes entirely against the way I work everyday.

So. I am a liberal to this board's conservatives. That's just strange. And I am a ultra right conservative to boots. Understanding Points of reference, empathy. Makes one believe they can understand others. That is all.

You're falsely equating empathy with concern and sympathy. Not the same.

but empathy is a key component for shaping moral agency and social behaviors; it serves as a catalyst for altruism.
