If the Astros miss the WS, this is absolutely as bad as 0.4. Probably worse.
0.4 didn't happen to a team that hadn't been to a Championship in its entire 44 year history.
They made a big deal out of Pujols and thats what ed them up. Normal pitching and perhaps Pujols strikes out.

That was the worst!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll still sleep tonight.
Did you guys see Pujols measuring his swing to hit the slider?
Yes, he's a great fastball hitter but you can't become predictable out of fear.
It's pretty much as close to the same ballpark as you can get
You're wrong..
The Spurs had the Championship if they had beaten the Lakers, Some might say no but they would've. The Spurs were unstoppable before they faced 0.4.
Well I think the Astros will rally and triumph... just a delayed victory! = )
Uh...the problematic at bat sure as was Pujols...t'was he that jacked that ball out of the Solar System....WITH his team down by 2...and a strike.
You can say that he should have never come up as the winning run....and I'll say you are right...but unfortunately for the Astros...he did, and when he did...he punished the Astros. He could not have hit that ball any harder.
That was an epic freaking shot...
Damn...just damn.
I hope the Stros will win it...but that's the kind of jack that can change a series...and a season...No one on that Astros team is ever going to forget that HR...and Pujols is going to be terrifying at the plate for the rest of this series.
And it would have been one of four Championships.
The Astros HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THE WORLD SERIES.
That's the kind of jack that can scar a closer's mental psyche for life. We're talking Rick Ankiel style.I hope the Stros will win it...but that's the kind of jack that can change a series...and a season...No one on that Astros team is ever going to forget that HR...and Pujols is going to be terrifying at the plate for the rest of this series.
Let's hope Brad Lidge bounces back strong.
So you'd rather have the Spurs lose a Championship to give the Astros a World Series le?
I was thinking Byung-Hyun Kim.
A. WTF are you talking about?
B. Yes I would. Not that that's relevant to the discussion.
Just a Random Question.
Hmm...I dunno, I don't watch the Astros much, but I'd say that the fact that it was Pujols will probably keep it from turning into an Ankiel or Kim thing...It'll be more of a Pujols thing.
I mean it wasn't like the guy that bashed him was a guy that couldn't hit. That was a lot more about Pujols than it was about Lidge...I wouldn't call it a choke...more like everything that could go wrong, going wrong...and a good situation turning into ty one real quick.
Clemens and Pe won't let Lidge go into the tank, and it was Pujols after all...
That was the most painful loss I have ever witnessed. that's coming from a Yankees fan who witnessed last years meltdown. Thank goodness tomorrow is a day off.
At the risk of blowing the reverse mojo thing I had going (and failed to keep up tonight in my excitement and unprecedented optimism), did Jeff Kent not break the Cardinals' hearts last year? I recall an eerily similar three run shot to win game 5 last year that supposedly ripped the Cardinals' hearts out, and look what happened.
We've got Roy ing Oswalt and Roger ing Clemens coming out in games 6 and 7. 3 games to 2. Take that , Astros.
Damn that sucked. But hey, Stros have two games to win one and unlike last year, they have proven they can win in STL.
I called it.
I called Pujols off the glass before he even got in the batters box.
LMAO.
You all mofos are ing bandwagoners anyways.... The Astros and their sorry ass Bees are CHOKERS!!!!
Cough.. Cough....
This is all my fault. I'm just good luck. I was there for game 4 of the NLDS. I watched games 2, 3, and 4 of the NLCS. I didn't get to watch the first game or tonight's game. So this one's definitely my fault guys.![]()
there's no doubt i'm a bandwagoner, but i'm going to stick with them until the end. Worse comes to worse Clemens shuts them out, GUARANTEED!
No one is more shocked than me.
I thought Lidge would pitch 2 innings and that would be it.
My birthday is tommarow and me and the family and friends went out for dinner.
I was somewhat down, cause the Rams were getting stomped expectingly, and the Cards just had their hearts ripped out after Berkman.
But I thought, what the , check the score on the phone.
I open my phone up, and if it doesnt say "STL 5 HOU 4 BOT 9"
Im like,
HEY HEY HEY, Mom, dad, its 5 -4 cards, their like STFU.
I show em, I run to the bar, and their I see Burke fly out.
Totally stunned.
I dont think this wins anything for the Cardinals, The Astros have the best pitcher in the MODERN era and Oswalt going in two games, Mulder is pitching again and he might be due for a bad one, Matt Morris is a ticking time bomb so who knows.
But like I said today, The mentality is just, take it back to Busch. Just get it back, and take your chances at home. You win game 5, you might have some momentum.
Im very happy, this is a great birthday present. I just also saw the replay, and couldn't believe it.
Does this not cement Pujols as the best player in the league???
A Rod.
Andruw Jones.
Pujols = God in St Louis no question.
Although the surrounding hitting is not helping my hopes for game 6.
This just gives us a chance to finish 'em off at Busch. I'd love for the last moment of Busch Stadium history to be an Astros dogpile. Send the stadium out in style.
Look, obviously Pujols won the game. But Pujols likely never gets a chance if Lidge pitches aggressively to Edmonds and forces him to put the ball in play.
The key at bat has to be Edmonds because he was the tying run and the final out all rolled into one. If Edmonds reaches, he brings Pujols up as the winning run. In that situation, you have to pitch to Edmonds so that you can reduce the likelihood that Pujols can beat you. Instead, Lidge got cute on the inner half and refused to challenge Edmonds at all. It cost him the game. That's why Edmonds was the key at abt.
Well, if anything the Series is now a Classic... I just hope the Astros end up on top.
