I have doubted Spurs would do that but if there's an imminent divorce, then the separation can be mutual but I always have thought it's Kawhi.
Since the team meeting that Kiwifan says angered him was described as teammates imploring him to play. Danny denied it was emotional but they never denied begging or asking him to actually play. I don't think teammates asked him out or PaTFO. They have wanted him to play all year. This one to me is all Kiwi

Completely reading tea leaves, I imagined that the players just asked point blank, "Kawhi are you gonna play this season or not?" Kawhi gave an equivocal answer, and they said that if he wasn't going to be on the bench supporting the team, and he wasn't coming back, then it would be less of a distraction for him to just stay away - perhaps half-hoping that it might shame him into either staying and being supportive or even playing. To be honest, I can't think of many rational ways to explain his behavior if it is his own volition. I cannot think of anything comparable in professional sports. I also cannot think of anything comparable to Pop's getting a "pass" from the press for his remarkably boorish behavior. To borrow from another poster, Cam Newton was absolutely crucified for far less than Pop - OR Kawhi. Not much to like about or root for with this Spurs team.
