D White is a beast when he wants to be. No bueno. He needs to be consistent. Denver shut him down in the playoffs after getting hot last year and he's been as soft as a bunny's ass this season. Need that from him every night. Be a pro.
Yeah Im losin it with Murray already!

I believe in Keldon. That's someone we can depend on. He already has that effect where his defense changes things and makes plays happen. He's aggressive on O. He wants to build a 3-pointer.
There is no reason to think he can't grow to be similar to Manu. Everyone else is showing us nothing except D White, who refuses to believe in himself for more than one game in a row.
If we can make White understand that he has a green light, that's a solid backcourt.
People act like White is too old for the Spurs to include him in the rebuilding. He just turned 26. He has at least 7 years of productive play.
One thing that has become sorely obvious now that our young players are sharing the court, is how much of a difference White's playmaking does as compared to Dejounte's. I really do wish the Spurs hadn't been so quick to commit to DJ... Trading him now or next year is out of the question, and even the year after that, it'd probably be a "bad look" and the FO wouldn't go for it. But he is lacking in playmaking, dribbling, setting up his teammates, finishing, and distance shooting. The jury is still out on whether he'll stay like this or can get better, but these last two games DJ has not looked good.
I don't see many people talking about Lonnie though. He's had some damn good outings - his shooting looks better, he's finishing better and more decisively around the rim, and he's handing out some nice passes that weren't in his game before. He still isn't handling a big playmaking load, so I'm hoping it's a focus of work during the off-season. With his body and talent, if he can be relied on as a playmaker and PnR handler, sky's the ceiling. Same as Keldon - I've really liked these past two games from him. Despite everyone on here being so debby-downer about our team, we've got some nice pieces, just have to see which ones develop and trade away those who don't. And for heaven's sake, ship DeMar and Rudy's asses to the furthest away team from San An possible. Trash.
If there's anything from Dejounte that could be seen as a positive... Its that he is the hardest worker on the team according to his teammates. Keldon also said he's close with Dejounte. Maybe this leadership quality SOMEWHAT makes up for his contract if it pushes the others to be better players.
To be honest, I've never doubted DJ's work ethic. It's clear he's put in the work - his shot is noticeably better, at least on the midrange, and he's much more inclined to attack and call his own number than when he first got on the team. Having said that, I just don't think the things he sorely needs are things that can actually be taught or be worked at, at that level. Maybe we've just gotten used to prospects coming out of the gates guns blazing nowadays, but I don't see many PGs that struggle with setting up their teammates and shooting for years after they've came into the league. It's kind of the only things you *must* do as a starting PG -set up plays, get the ball to your teammates on their spots, space the floor- and DJ does neither at an above average level. Can he improve? He sure can, and I'm hoping he will. But the more I watch him get his dribble picked, his passes read, his confidence falter when he gets the ball above the 3pt line, the more I think that if he hasn't improved as of now, he won't do it later. You can put in all the work that you can physically, but there's a mental aspect to the game that a true championship-level PG has to have, that I simply don't see in DJ. I'm rooting for him, though... For the time being, DWhite's presence on the starting lineup at least mitigates this somewhat.
I agree with all of your points... Watch him shut us up in the next game with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals...
The thing is, I wouldn't really like that - just the statline, I mean. Dejounte has already had some impressive scoring outlets through the season (the first few games of the season come to mind, before Pop's neutering), but what he's consistently struggled with has been setting up his teammates and actually running an offense. Far too often, he brings the ball up, and settles for a quick pass to DD/LMA to shift the responsibility of the playmaking, whilst he slips to the corner or wing (where he isn't truly spacing the floor, as he'll stutter to take the catch-and-shoot 3). When he's aggressive and scoring, it obviously helps the team, but he still falls into his tendency to not set up others, which invariably hinders the team.
If you're not getting the primary playmaking out of your starting PG, you must have either a pass-oriented scheme (which the current Spurs are far from) or a ball-handling, heavy-use star wing or center, like LBJ or Luka or whomever. The Spurs don't have that either, and I'm really hoping they trade up for Avdija this year to fix that, but it'll still be worrysome if Dj never develops in this aspect. His shooting, I think will eventually get better, but I can't say the same about his offense running. In that regard, having White start at the 2 is the obvious hot fix, but leaves the bench vulnerable (watching Forbes run the point today, though not as bad as could've been, was disgusting). We'll see how the Spurs deal with this moving forward...
Above all though, the ones who I want handling the ball the most are Keldon and Lonnie. Today's league is made for players just like them, and if they can get better at running the PnR, shooting and passing, which both already seem to be developing, they can become a very special duo.
Drafting Deni would be a dream for the Spurs.
Back to being the top international team in the NBA and becoming beloved all over the world.
Austrian
Croatian
Australian
Israeli
Italian (but i hope hes not on the team anymore)
Maybe nab Leandro Balmaro too somehow and we'll have an Argentinian
I simmed the lottery and the Spurs were top 3 seven times out of 25. I like our chances.
Eventually:
Dejounte/ Quinndary
White/ Mills
Keldon/ Lonnie
Deni/ Lyles/ Samanic
Poetl/ Eubanks

Just one more season of patty mills....but hey! Atleast poodle power is back
No question DDR is going to opt-in. Doesn't mean that he'll be a Spur, however. Spurs could make it clear that they intend to rebuild after the season, and then him, his agent, and The Spurs can work on finding a trade.
The most obvious team is the Knicks, who have the Spurs to absorb most of his contact (they've also been rumored to be interested in him). Think that Forbes is probably gone no matter what, too many players with higher ceilings that fill his minutes. Then again, PATFO will probably be enticed by the fact that he'll be almost certainly be available for the same salary as this season.
I have set it before, and I will say it again...Dejounte Murray should be a backup at this time. He needs to learn. At the beginning of the season he was not and is still not ready for a starting point guard slot. He actually would be a great point forward if he was 3 inches taller, where his limited playmaking skills would not be so exposed. If he came off the bench alongside either Patty Mills or Forbes, he would be better off, due to better shooting around him and less pressure against starters, and his defense will cover up the undersized guards
Derrick White has 4 years of college playing experience, as opposed to 1 for Dejounte.
Derrick White led his Gleague team to a championship and started more professional games compared to Dejoune. I am not saying Dejounte wont improve , or wont be better but right now he is not the starter the Spurs need.
Should've drafted Brogdon.
Another poor decision by poop poopavich
I get it... dejounte is probably my least favorite of the youngins between Dwhite, Lonnie, and Keldon but chill out a little bit, right before the season was postponed Dejounte was playing the best basketball of his career
Sugus, re DJ dribbling and getting his dribble picked: I posted the first time I saw him that he was dribbling the ball up to shoulder level and he would get picked. That extra difference the ball is traveling is an opportunity for defensive minded guards to time it and reach in for a steal. Same goes when he drives. He probably grew up in his current body too fast and developed that high dribble. Whatever, it is not a dribble for a NBA player, much less a starting point guard. He will never be able lose that style and will never be a top PG.
poop poopavich cannot get murry to dribble right
poop poopavich cannot coach
I like Murray but I have been saying from day 1 he is not a PG they need to play him at SG and try to make a better offensive Danny Green and if he can give us 80% of Danny defensively it would be a win win for both parties. People just don’t understand that a PG is like a Running Back you either have good on court vision and can be productive or you don’t and you won’t be productive. You either have it or you don’t it’s not something you can work on and improve on every year and Murray just doesn’t have it. I have never seen him break his man down and do a slick pass or take it into the paint and make a pass to a cutting player for an easy dunk. Don’t get me wrong I still like the kid but Pop screwed up by not making him a SG.
He should be an Avery Bradley type (defensive minded 3 and D combo G) and be done with it. He'll never be a true PG.
Let's hope DM has better performances moving forward. They put a lot of stock in him being the PG of the future. Tuesday's game will be the first I get to watch.
I have always thought he would be a good 12th man to have around for those end of game plays where you have to spread the floor for a last shot.
I am not a Dejounte hater, but he is being rushed too quickly. He needed to study behind a veteran point guard, where as Derrick White has 4 years of experience.
For the last game, Popovich needs to sit DeMar and start Keldon...let's see what he can do
I've posted about it before and I think it still stands true:
The coaching staff needed a former NBA point guard to work with Dejounte. And he really needs the coaching though it may be getting too late. There is no one to help him get better at NBA point guard skills. White is trying to get his own career going and Mills never had those skills.
Maybe it would have never made a difference but the Spurs have really underserved Murray and themselves.
