For the umpteenth millionth time....The reason everyone is mad is NOT about the lack of money being paid back to Jim, but about the lack of character shown by Duff in not attempting to even make good on a portion of his debt.

You are missing everything.

The problem with Duff not paying Jim back isn't about the money. Jim doesn't even really care about the money. It's about having someone snow you out of money, say they don't have any money to pay you back, and then brag about how they buy expensive clothing, etc in this forum. It's the principal, not the money.

So even if Zak paid Jim (and I know Jim wouldn't take the money) that still doesn't mean that Jim doesn't feel embarrassed or fooled by Duff anymore.

I don't care too much about Duff, since I don't now him and because I don't have the patience to read all the threads on this subject so I skip them.

The reason I did read this particular thread is because of Jim's proposal. I find it admirable in this day and age that somebody would help an anonymous screen name with 800$ (I know it's not a fortune - although I wouldn't call it "nothing") just on the premises that he thought that person was in trouble and that money would go for a good purpose. When the forum started pilling up on Duff, Jim was the one embarassed. That just plain, old fashinoed decent and I'm really impressed by your character Jim. I wrote this because in all of the Duff bashing Jim's gesture is getting overlooked - and I know Jim is going to be embarassed by it.


Now if you'll excuse me I must go write Rasho's name on some cheap ass T-shirts I bought the other day....

True. But Zak doesn't have any money to give, Jim doesn't need it, and I believe what has raised the forum ire is not that Jim is out some $$$, but that somebody has successfully executed a permutation of the Nigerian bank scam right in the middle of the forum.

Well, Duff is a con man who is not going to pay back anybody anything ever. He's not looking to be redeemed any more than the guy who picks your pocket at Disney World or steals the stereo out of your car is looking to be redeemed.

So Zak, thinking that he's going to be Duff's Redeemer, is offering money he doesn't have to pay back somebody who doesn't need it, on behalf of somebody whose reaction will be, "Ha ha, sucker."

It's Zak's prerogative to do it. But he's a fool.
