Getting luke kornet should be the number one goal.
Aren’t we trying to fix that?
Getting luke kornet should be the number one goal.
Nah, the 76ers want to keep him, but jumping to the 3rd pick makes it more difficult financially.
Obviously dependent on the draft/trade(s), but if the Spurs don't land immediate front court help on either front, I suspect there's a good chance they sign one of Yabusele or LaRavia.
Hope so.
guys i like with MLE money would be LaRavia and NAW
i dont really care for Yabusele
for backup center they should be looking at guys potentailly agreeing to BAE money like BroLo, Horford, Kornet, Capela. you dont need a worlbeater here. just somebody who can play 15-20mpg and hold it down such that the defense doesnt completely fall apart just because wembanyama is resting. bonus points if its somebody that can share the floor with wemby for 5-10 minutes as needed
i dont think spending a first on a backup C is a great investment, and i do like sorber a lot. but im definitely prioritizing forwards like Fleming, Bryant, Coward before settling on a backup C

It wouldn't make great waves in the sports media, but if the Spurs got Kornet and Laravia in July I would be ecstatic (the emotion, not the spurstalk poster).
Sign me up for some Luke Kornet, especially if we don't take a big with the 14 (or even if we do if it's a project like Beringer). I'm assuming he won't command Hartenstein like $$$.
The main thing about Yabusele with Sixers, is that he had to play basically out of position the whole year as undersized C because of Embiid's injuries
Yabusele would be a fine signing for Spurs to play PF alongside Wembanayama.
DIdn't know where to post this but didn't want to start a new thread...
Vecenie's Offseason Preview for the Spurs is finally up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyxAnM6Aovo
That's the key, he is a PF you know works with Wemby.
Agreed. Obviously it depends on the money, but assuming it’s something reasonable I think he’d be a good fit.
NAW is my top free agent priority
What do you think he'll cost? I think he's a relatively late bloomer who's better than his general reputation, but also a guy who scores in single digits so can't demand too much... exactly the kind of role player the Spurs need around Wemby & Fox.
How's his defense and rebounding when playing more in his natural position, Bruno? I still really like Yabusele, just wasn't sure if he'd fit on the Spurs roster.
I hope we can get him for the MLE.
These have been largely great
I find him fine defense/rebounding wise at PF. He didn't stand out as being especially good or bad to me.
I'm not sure it's a good idea for Spurs to sign a good but not great forward. With Fox/Harper/Castle likely eating all the guards minutes, Spurs will have 5 decent players at SF/PF with Vassell, Champagnie, Keldon, Barnes and Sochan. Adding a player who likely will only be marginally better like Yabusele, NAW or LaRavia won't help a lot and will create a logjam. It could change if Spurs do a trade that cost them some depth but, right now, signing them would be stockpiling mediocre players.
Is there anyone you suggest they could go after that isn't similar to the guys we already have? If they do trade away some of those guys you mentioned (Vassell, Keldon, Barnes, Sochan, Champagnie), would you say Yabusele, NAW, LaRavia are worth getting in that case?
Also, do you guys think the Spurs would trade Champagnie? Does he have much value to other teams? I assume due to his amazingly low salary, the Spurs would want to hold onto him?
I don't think Barnes based on his own play will be good enough to play a lot of minutes. He did one thing well, spot up threes. Everything else was awful, most importantly his rebounding and defense. He's old and washed and the shooting will be the last thing to go. But any average rebounder and defender will more benefit winning, and the better they get in a replacement the better they'll be.
i like him a lot. reason i lean laravia is because he has spent most of his career minutes at forward (about half at the 4), whereas NAW has spent a majority at guard. between Barnes being an expiring, Keldon being phased out, and Sochan still being a question mark, thats a hole i'd rather plug in FA
Like I said, Spurs and Lakers will go after the same frontcourt players. Glad it's Amico, which means it doesn't mean anything.
Tbh, clear advantage to the Lakers because they're offering a starting role.
We can't guarantee more than 15 to 18 mpg to any big we're trying to get.
