He will play.
I'm good if he doesn't play Summer League. It's such spectacularly ty basketball it doesn't matter for him. Let the try-hards work to get the last spots they can. It's barely watchable as it is.
He will play.
Yeah and it'll be a waste
nah, its nice in-game action for them, some of which like Harper havent played a live game for 4 months now. its a step up in compe ion from college, different structures, sets. get their feet wet acclimating to the speed/pace of the nba game, finishing against bigger athletes, etc.
and it will be the only chance at real live-game situations until preseason in october, another 3 months away.
Harper is out tomorrow
If he was gonna miss games this always made more sense, I guess. I’m sure if he had to pick 2 games for summer league he would rather play against Cooper Flagg and his good friend Ace Bailey.
Spurs killing us here
This is like being mad that Tom Brady won’t play those first two preseason games. Walk it off, man.
can’t wait till Christmas to play with my toys man
Everyone knows who Tom is...Everyone wants to see Dylan against semi nba level talent

Word at shootaround this morning is Dylan Harper continues to trend toward playing Saturday vs. Dallas. Spurs, as always, err on the side of caution at Summer League.
It seems to me, both Carter and Dylan just want to hoop and the money is a bonus on top of it. That's pretty cool to see.
"What are you most looking forward to in the NBA?"
Deandre Ayton: "My second contract."
Not exactly a PC answer.![]()
harper grew up well off...
but still - yes - i agree with your post - mostly...
The only good thing about that answer is that it proved he’s not a liar. He was and still is in it for the money, only the money.
Even growing up very well off, earning more in a rookie contract than your father did in a career is significant. $56m to $35m.
This man is brimming with enthusiasm and cheefulness.....
Cant wait to have the trio (Fox, Castle and Harper) wreak havoc on the court...

Yeah, darn, I remember someone posting that quote recently. Not a good sign for the teams that signed him. Really doesn't give you much confidence.
True. I forget/don't think that D-Harp is well off, but still, both he and his brother have worked their asses off to try and make it in the NBA.
Speaking of his brother, I saw that the Pistons have released him? If RH Jr. can't get a deal with another NBA team (not sure if he's willing to go overseas if he can't get a deal with another NBA team), I wonder if the Spurs would take a look at him for the Austin Spurs or something. It'd be cool if they could at least live together.
Very true. In a way, I respect that he was at least being honest. Doesn't make me feel good if I were the team signing him, though.
Regardless of being well off, he's still worked his ass off to get here. Being well off doesn't get you to the number 2 pick. He's put in the work. It seems his parents (mom especially) have also done a great job with him IMO.
Same here. I'm hyped for that trio to wreak some havoc out there. I am a bit worried about the Fox injury I just read about, though. I hope it's not serious so that he can build some chemistry with the guys before the season starts. If he's out for extended time, then that would start the Spurs off of the back foot again, though, which would make a playoff bid harder.

The context of my reply was in reference to his wealth as someone else had mentioned. Totally separate from his work ethic and mom's raising/coaching. I agree with you. I was simply stating the significance of earning more before age 25 than one's father did in his career. That's pretty amazing regardless of one's wealth level.
Did you think that I was disparaging Dylan and the Harpers? If so, not the case.
my comment of harper being well-off had zero to do with his work ethic or him earning his way, etc...
its just a fact...
if your dad is a millionaire and an nba champ (not sure how many rings) and you grew up on 3rd base (like white people)
then you grew up privileged...
not putting him down and i am 100 percent certain he worked his ass off and earned every bit of his contract/success
but a fact is a fact and was born into a wealthy situation...

I took the other post as saying he's well off so he doesn't need the money and I carried that reply over to yours.
As for being privileged, it's an interesting topic. Do you guys think that he still would have made it to this same point if he wasn't?
[QUOTE=Ice009;11279175][QUOTE=ginobilized;11279095]All good!
I think the privilege for Dylan is nature and nurture of growing up with a father in the league and an ultra-compe ive mom. Obviously, the money did not hold he or his brother back. When the NBA and college basketball are part of the family business, a kid grows up with tremendous insight on what it might take to get there themselves. Others are relying on coaches and guessing what it really takes to make it in the league. Also, Ron Harper Sr. was such a stellar player and had a hard-nosed style of play. That must've been part of his upbringing too. I doubt Andrew Bynum or DeAndre Ayton will have sons that play in the NBA. I love seeing all the 2nd generation players and coaches in the league.
