Ok Mr. Softball, how much does a top bat cost, just in case I want to become a pro softball player like you and sequ.

Most of the banned, state of the art slow pitch softball bats are $239.99-$349.99.





I'm not buying one of those ... I used my daughter's fastpitch bat that I think I got at Academy last year for $25.00 and I was knocking the out of the ball. I'll stick with that one.

My biggest problem is the 1 home run rule. That sucks I'll hit 4 homeruns and be 1 for 4.

In that thing-y of rules that was posted about the banned bats, it says the homerun rules are 4 for men, and an unlimited for women...I don't know if that was for the division we'll be playing in...but that's what that said.

Also, if a man is walked, intentionally or otherwise...he gets an automatic freebee to second, and the female up after him (it has to alternate gender) can choose either to walk to first or take the pitches.

Seriously, I'm not a feminazi or anything, but these rules are almost offensive...like they were written in like 1950 or something when apparently women were weak and couldn't possibly have any skills. I'm thoroughly looking forward to taking complete advantage of them.

Oh, and my daughter's season will be over before this starts...so I'll have a female-sized glove someone can borrow .. some softballs for practice, 2 pony-tail batting helmets and a $25 state-of-the-art Academy bat.

What's an ex minor league player doing playing in a rec league?

I'm sure we'll be fine, as far as the kind of equipment we get. I mean it's a rec league not the freakin olympics.

We'll be fine equipment wise as long as we all pitch in and share! Sharing is caring! As far as taking a ball to the body goes, we'll just have to practice throwing softballs at eachother.

This is going to be fun.

Now, we have about 2 months to shape up, team up, and get ready to kick some ass. So, when is everyone free to get together in the next couple of weeks to go over jerseys, equipment, costs, etc? Or, do you think this could be done online? I'd really like to get together but majority rules so please let me know! Thanks.

Katy, don't be sorry for being so excited about this. It should be lots of fun! I think most stuff could be discussed online, maybe in like a scheduled group chat. But a real live in the flesh meeting doesn't sound bad either. I'm down for whichever.

The only days I really can't make it to discuss stuff would be 4/15, 5/6, 5/19-5/21. Other than those days and then of course Spurs Games...I'm good to go.

The only weekend games left are:
Friday 4/7 - Mavericks
Sunday 4/9 - Grizz
Sunday 4/16 - @ Twolves

Then the playoffs start.

Until my kid's leagues are over at the beginning of May, Saturdays after 3:00 and Sundays are the best for us....the days we don't have games or practices during the week are very few and far between. And since their coach's don't seem to let us know when they practice until the last minute, it's hard to plan around. My daughter is supposed to have practice today, but I still haven't gotten the email that says where they are practicing.

I'm excited too, though.

Sundays are family day for my husband and I.
We go to church (yes I go to church) and then we spend time with my parents and then my in-laws.

Once again, you guys will do fine. Its about having fun. You can honestly find very good equipment for cheap at discounted stores like TJ Max, Big Lots, and etc. I saw some good gloves at the stores I mentioned like two weeks ago for like $26.99. I remember buying a rawlings softball glove in 1997 at a garage sale for $5.00. The thing was brand new and I still have it. I have played in softball leagues from like '98 to about '04. That glove is the bomb.

If I'm understanding these damn rules correctly, there needs to be at least the number of females to the number of males on the field playing defensively with no more than 5 men on the field at any time. So, at least 5 females and 5 males on the field. Does this mean we can have more men on the team than women so long as more men are not actually playing than woman?

I'm going to call to find out.
