All Dallas did on defense was grab Duncan, so of course the Spurs shot a lot of FTs...
From what I saw, all Dallas' big men did was simply hold their ground and keep their hands up(most of the time)...yet Duncan got the call everytime. Unbelievable. u can't even breath on Duncan. Not to mention, the guy always pushes off to get a rebound and the refs NEVER call that . Anyway...should've, could've, would've.

If you read my posts during the game blog and after the game, I said it came down to game 7 and mavs made their shots. I gave them credit and I even said critisized others for getting on the refs.

I am bringing it back up because it always seems that the mavs get the benefit of the whistle at imoportune times. The picture was a joke and I was playing off of it. Dallas is clearly better but I would liked to have seen the Javie make the correct call on the shot clock violation. It's a routine call that happens in every game. You can't miss that call.

Haha, I'm with you. I just couldn't resiste getting on this board tonight to view the whining Spurs fans. Of course, not all Spurs fans are ref whiners but the few who are provide great entertainment!

Okay to get back to the original topic instead of all the lame ing ....

I didn't watch the game (because I'm sick and was asleep) so someone give me a fair rundown of what happened. Did the Suns just suck offensively or Dallas played good D? Who guarded Marion? What was the little scuffle about? And Suns fans, why is D'Antoni only going 7 deep? (I know they have injuries, but 7 is still light)

Mavs would have the advantage because nobody on the Heat can slow down Dirk, whereas Howard is feasibly capable of at least holding Wade to 20 or so points every now and again.

Shaq, nobody can stop him. You just have to hope he gets into foul trouble or has a day where he can't get good lift.
I'm not too worried about Shaq. He isn't going to dominate the paint and put all our men in foul trouble any better than what Duncan did. No way does Shaq(big man) have a better series than Duncan. In fact I think Damp and Diop will find it a little easier guarding Shaq. He is not as crafty or fundamental as Duncan and he is not the same dominant force on a consistent basis. On the other hand, who guards Dirk...Haslem...Posey. Dirk has already played against the best perimeter defensive player in the playoffs(Bowen) and is currently burning another top 5 in Marion. The dude is unstoppable. They're gonna have to double team him...and when they do..well u guys know what happens next. Wade will get his points, but Howard and Harris can contain him somwhat. After that, there's no on to worry about.

Good because you missed another up special by Javie
hardly a " up" if it is completely irrelevent to the outcome of the game. " up" is letting Stackhouse grab like 3 consecutive rebounds in the final 45 secs.

He did make the right call...and you're right he should have just stuck to it.. I'm not a Mavs homer and I'll admit when things go in favor for the Mavs(like the call on Duncan where Dirk stepped on his foot) but I am absolutely positively certain that the ball grazed the rim on that play. If any of you have TIVOs(and for some reason TIVOed the game) slow-mo the replay from the side and you'll see it grazed the rim. On the Van Horn up and down no call I am much less certain God, I cringe in fear everytime I see him in the game.

You're ing stupid if you think Josh Howard is going to even slow down D.Wade. Howard will be in foul trouble the whole series and wade will get 20 points from the foul line.
maybe D.Wade does get his 25-30 pts. But who stops Dirk,Howard,Terry, Harris, Stack, KVH(when he's wide open). Too much to touch. Even Daniels can get 8-10 pts in limited minutes.

I did the slo-mo at least 10X with Tivo (it's the only way i watch games) and it looked to me like it just barely grazed the side which is why it bounced off and didn't come off straight. I have a 42" HD plasma so it's pretty clear but I wish someone would show it from the top angle rather than straight on or left.

because the regular season is the same as the playoffs, much less the finals Detroit, which is the far better defensive team can't stop wade how does dallas?

holy i just realized one of those games was from nov. before riley and Shaq was still injured. Are you serious? Honestly it's a good match up because the heat's bench is as good or better then dallas', so it comes down to individual match up and dallas doesn't have an answer for shaq or wade while posey and walker can guard dirk.
bench better than Dallas? please. other than Mourning, they have no one off the bench that compares to what the Mavs can offer. Mavs starting 5 is better and the bench is better. I'm not worried about 50 yr old Payton, or "20% 3- pt shootin', let's chuck em up all day, cause I'm stupid Walker or 50 yr old Tony Delk.

Wade averaged 27.2 points a game in the regular season. He's averaging 26.9 points a game in the playoffs.

He averaged 6.7 assists per game in the regular season, he's averaging 7 a game in the playoffs.

You guys are making it way too easy. To save yourselves some time, maybe you should actually look up the numbers before throwing out nonsense that's going to be immediately knocked down with facts.
and to add to that...look at who they played in those 1st 2 series. Chicago and Jersey have got to be the some of the weaskest defensive teams in this year's playoffs. His ppg and apg should have gone up considerably.

Nash took more shots this time around and while it looked like Barbosa was going to play better, he didn't. Everytime he made a shot and got his confidence he tried to make another one that was either blocked or didn't go in and was rebounded by the Mavs. The game was close most of the way until JHo and Dirk stepped it up in the second half. The scuffle was silly. Tim Thomas and Dirk got into it on the other end of the floor, guess Dirk thought he was fouled. Thomas got fouled hard by JHo on the next possession, they called a flagrant 1. Thomas, when he walked up to shoot the FTs, purposely walked in-between where four Mavs players where standing, bumping Terry from behind. Terry shoved him, another technical called. Not a big deal. Suns always have a short rotation, they did last year and it worked so I guess D'Antoni figures he can do it again with success.

Sorry about the illness. Fair rundown? A millions versions can be found here.

Did the Suns just suck offensively or Dallas played good D?
It was a typical suns game. When they played well they led the game especially in the first half. They ran up and down and hit some outside shots, but they never had their fast pace going. Diaw was especially effective. They missed Raja's scoring but more importantly Marion was almost a non factor. He had a monster game rebounding but he missed a lot of close shots. He didn't really attack the basket like he did the previous games. I don't even think he had one dunk to give him confidence. Nash "only" having 7 dimes is partly due to this. I don't think one of them was to Marion.

In the third, Dallas stepped up the D and started scoring at will almost. Their D was effective. The suns missed shots and made some careless turnovers. This is the quarter where Terry/Howard when off offensively. With all the that aggressiveness from Dallas, Nash kept the suns afloat with tough shots. The fourth was more like the third. The shots that Diaw was making early weren't falling. Diop was a little more agressive on him and I think that made him settle for outside jumpers.

There was a clear bone head call down the stretch. I don't remember what the score was. The clock was running down and Dirk took a fall away shot. I ball clearly didn't hit rim by various replays but the ref let the play go on thinking it didn't hit rim. Javie later apologized for the call saying, "It will my fault" Mavs got the offensive rebound and I think they scored. They must have had like 3 straight offensive rebounds on that possesion. Rebouding + suns turnovers + lack of shooting sealed the suns' fate at the end.

    Who guarded Marion?
Nobody in particular. Not many plays were run for him. Except for a nice turn around shot in the post over Terry in the post, all of his points were either off rebouding or in transition. His mainly stood like a statue of offense or shot a contested shot all night. It was Nash and Diaw all night in the set offense on pick and rolls.

The definition of up is: A failure, someone who really messes up. Got it. It has nothing to do with outcome of games. Javie messed up on that play and thus it is considered a up. Got it.

    For Kori:

The Suns offense wasn't really on today. They started off pretty horribly, and had a nice stint in the 2nd quarter for a few minutes, but then it went away. They finished the game shooting awfully and couldn't get a rebound on D to save their lives. Then the one time they did play D and caused the Mavs to run out the shot clock, the refs let Dallas keep the ball. Had Phoenix gotten the ball righ then they might have been able to tie up the game before it ended, but with the way they were shooting at that point, they probably would have lost anyway.

Howard slow him down. Congrats for that. You seem to have ignored my other arguement concerning injuries. This is why they have been up and down all season. They are now getting better and playing well together. Shaq and Lonzo are both healthy and are domesticating the wallace boys right now. Because Shaq is playing well, the focus is a bit off of him. That's my whole ing point. Wade had to jack up every ing shot against Howard who I am not even sure defended him the whole game because the rest his team couldn't do . I wonder why. Injuries. Yes it's legit. They closed out a very good bulls quickly. Wade will have off night of course, but his imprint will be all over that potential series. Points, assists, rebounds, whatever.
r u comparing the victory over the Bulls to the victory over the World Champs!??? Dallas by far has accomplished more than the Heat have. not to mention I think Memphis beats Chicago in a 7 game series and Dallas roasted them. Chicago is not that good. Dallas beats those chumps in 4.

if you're gonna throw Payton in there, you mind as well throw Darrell Armstron in there. C'mon, experience or no experience, Payton doesn't have the foot speed to hang with Harris or Terry.

Oh and one more thing, Phoenix REALLY needs Raja Bell to play in the next game and be healthy. I will pray for him now.
