Well the Astros are gonna win this one.
They have literally been handed this game thanks to Edgar Renteria and Marcus Giles.
Absolutely pathetic defense.
ing Astros get HANDED a game. Just GIVEN. DIdn't even have to work for it.
of a win today.
Fantastic pitching by Sup all day long.
He is MORE than in playoff form.
He will pitch game 3 against LA/SD first game at home.
If he can keep up his performance post All Star, and Carp can regain his form, these RedBirds have just as much a shot as anyone going in.

Thanks to the Braves inept and Tampa Bay Devil Ray play, the Cardinals will have to pitch Carpenter tommorow.
All because the Braves are ing idiots.
I guess that 8 game losing streak by the Cardinals had nothing to do with it
Again, Cards had an unimaginable losing streak and the strobes had an unimaginable winning streak. A real odd thing. Like to save Chris for the playoffs, but who better to pitch your way into the Central le than him and with Smoltz pitching his last game in a Braves uniform against the strobes.
On a side note... I listened to the Atl game and I couldn't help but hear about how Berkman was having the best season ever for Houst. I just thought it was weird that the best ever strobe season won't even get the poor guy in the top 3 in MVP voting.
berkman is doing it with little to no protection in the lineup too. it took garner a long time to realize scott should be hitting right behind him. he deserves to be talked about for MVP just as much as pujols or howard.
True, but no one is giving him ANY run for it.
On a lighter note, the Cy Young will be decided tomorrow, as both Webb and Chris pitch. Webb is up against the red-hot Padres still fighting for the division crown. He beats them and goes around 7, he wins. If the DBacks lose and Chris shuts down the Brewers, he wins.
Yet they are still up 1.5.I guess that 8 game losing streak by the Cardinals had nothing to do with it
I know all of ESPN and Baseball hates the Cardinals are gonna be there.
i would give it to zambrano, he has had a ridiculously good season for an absolutely horrible team. there's no way he will win it though.
Can't give it to someone who has been medically diagnosed physchoticly crazy.
Wow, we didn't pitch Carpenter. Tony has balls of steel. Good thing the strobes really DO suck.
Cardinals won't do anything in the playoffs but they made it.
Why does ESPN hate the Cards?
Does ant team in the NL really matter, it's gonna be a playoff compe ion to see who gets the honor of being swept by the American League Champs
Thats fine.Cardinals won't do anything in the playoffs but they made it.
Hope everyone thinks that.
Everyone said that about the Angels, Marlins, and others.
Does ant team in the NL really matter, it's gonna be a playoff compe ion to see who gets the honor of being swept by the American League Champs
Theres no one in the American league that is unbeatable.
The Tigers limped in.
The Twins won in.
The A's don't have the starting pitching.
The Yankees starting pitching definately isn't good enough.
Everyteam in the postseason has holes, and has their questionmarks.
Eckstein and Spiezio were both on the radio in St Louis right now, and said this team reminds them of the Angels team in 02.
3 solid rotation guys. Young pitchers in the bully.
1 big stud and solid role players around him.
"get there and see what happens"
Are they the New York Cardinals?
The Los Angeles Cardinals?
The Chicago Cardinals?
The San Francisco Cardinals?
The Philadelphia Cardinals?
The Washington Cardinals?
The Boston Cardinals?
No?
That's why.
Small market team does good. StL is the best baseball town in the US, the fans are rabid about their team, but big markets hate them because they are good and a small market.
See the Spurs as an example.
Cards are going in as the big underdog.
The last two years it didnt work being the hunted.
Pujols and others have already said, its gonna be fun to just go out there and ball.
No worries, no expectations just let it all hang out and have alot of fun.
Holy @ Pujols hitting a career-high 49 homers and missing about 20 games. I stopped keeping track months ago. MVP race is tighter than I initially thought.
or he was worried and saving him for the extra game/next series. beyond carpenter the card don't have much in the way of starters, and he has been shaky lately.
Common sense.or he was worried and saving him for the extra game/next series
Carps been tired, give him two days of extra rest, and let him be ready to go up against Peavy on tuesday afternoon.
Nah.beyond carpenter the card don't have much in the way of starters
Only Suppan who has the lowest ERA of any pitcher since the all star break, under 2.
Weaver, who is 4-0 on the road with a 3 50 ERA.
Totally can see how you can make that "judgement"
weaver, who serves up premium gopher balls. suppan has had a nice second half, but you're hyping dude up a little much. as a stros fan the last 2 years in the playoffs we would look forward to facing suppan. carpenter was usually a loss for us, but the rest were up for grabs.
Good thing Sept ended.
