Steady rain has pushed the start of the NLCS between the Cardinals and Mets to Thursday at 8 ET. Game 2 will take place Friday at a time to be determined.
I hope you were trying to be a smart ass. If not, you're a real asswipe. Why hasn't the building structure buckled and collapsed under the sheer heat? Why didn't the fuel spill down the stairs causing a bunch of smaller explosions several stories below impact?

NEW YORK (AP) -- Game 1 of the NL championship series between the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets was postponed Wednesday night because of a steady rain.
The best-of-seven series will now begin Thursday night, and Game 2 at Shea Stadium is to be played Friday -- which was supposed to be an off day in the series.
The NLCS shifts to St. Louis for Game 3 on Saturday.
Yeah, friend of mine said on the radio in STL they reported the team bus showed up late, and were told, and they turned around.
I guess LaRussa is there, don't totally know.
Reporter from the STL Post Dispatch says hes been there for 100 minutes, and its been steady non stop rain, and they just called it cause they had lost the field.
hope his wife knows and the fbi actually told her first then seeing it on the news

Baseball reacts to Lidle tragedy

NEW YORK (AP) -- Reactions to the apparent death of Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle, whose plane slamed into a Manhattan high rise Wednesday:
•"This is a terrible and shocking tragedy that has stunned the entire Yankees organization. I offer my deep condolences and prayers to his wife, Melanie, and son, Christopher, on their enormous loss." -- New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner
•"Spending the last few months as Cory's teammate, I came to know him as a great man. While he was known as a baseball player, he was, more importantly, a husband and father and, at a time like this, I want to share my deepest sympathies with his wife Melanie, his son Christopher and all those who know and loved him."--Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter.
•"Right now, I am really in a state of shock, as I am sure the entire MLB family is. ... I have known Cory and his wife Melanie for over 18 years and watched his son grow up. We played high school ball together and have remained close throughout our careers. We were excited to be reunited in New York this year and I am just devastated to hear this news."--Yankees first baseman Jason Giambi
•"All of baseball is shocked and terribly saddened by the sudden and tragic passing of Cory Lidle. Cory was only 34 years old and had played in the Major Leagues for nine seasons with seven different clubs. He leaves a young wife, Melanie, and a young son, Christopher. Our hearts go out to them on this terrible day."--Baseball commissioner Bud Selig
•"I played with Cory in 1998. It's really tragic. You just, you don't hear things like that very often. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. You just really don't know what to say. ... You just hope that his family will be able to deal with the tragedy."--St. Louis Cardinals starter Jeff Suppan
•"I have no words. I just have very strong emotions. It's just sadder than sad. He was a very hard worker, very compe ive. ... You want to find out that maybe it's not true." --Mets pitching coach Rick Peterson, who coached Lidle when the two were in Oakland
•"This is a terrible shock. I was with Ron Guidry and Lee Mazzilli when I heard the news and we were just stunned. Cory's time with the Yankees was short, but he was a good teammate and a great compe or. My heart goes out to his family." -- Yankees manager Joe Torre
•"We are all deeply saddened by this horrible tragedy. Our hearts and prayers are with the family. This is a sad day for the entire Yankee family." -- Yankees president Randy Levine
johnsmith grow up theres nothing funny about it asshole
I wonder if they'd give continuous coverage if he was a KC Royal.
I didn't realize they were still going, but I would think so as the death of a professional athlete (still competing) is rare.
I'm trying to remember athlete deaths and it was the same way with Darryl Kile AFAIR. I don't remember crazy coverage for Bison Dele, but I think he had already left baseball at that point.
OSU basketball team plane crash and the Cleveland Indians' boating accident didn't get nearly the same type of coverage.
Anything that has to do with a plane crashing into a NY building is gonna get tons of coverage....no mater who is flying the plane.
Wow, I'm watching ESPN. This is crazy. My condolences to Lidle's family and everyone else involved in this tragedy today...![]()
I'm not saying you're wrong and everybody knows I tend to give the media the benefit of the doubt, so I'll simply present this.
Steve Olin was in 1993, so the 24-hour sports/news coverage wasn't in full cycle yet.
And I (though can't fully remember), seem to remember the OSU plane crash getting this much coverage (but that also happened at night, IIRC, because I think I was up late at work or home, flipped to a station and noticed there was a press conference about to begin with, so that might have been time of night as far as coverage goes.
The other thing to look at (if you're optimistic and I can see anybody not being so with the media...even myself) is this started off as a general news story (which brought a sometimes biased-away-from-sports media into coverage because they found out the sports angle after initial coverage started).
Or it could be because it was in New York and it's the Yankees.
But I'd like to think it was because of the way the news started and the shock at a sports connection after the initial coverage began.
I remember when I made the first post this afternoon, I was actually going to respond to johnsmith's terror angle (since I had already changed the TV to ESPN), when I heard and recognized the ESPN breaking news bumper and looked up to see Brian Kenny talk about Cory Lidle.
So an already tense news situation unfolded even more with one discovery of a passport/DL.
Plus, what happened at the news of it being Cory Lidle is you bring in another "quality of news."
The major qualities of news are: Impact, Conflict, Novelty, Prominence, Proximity, Timeliness.
With the initial story (w/o knowing it was Lidle), you have Impact, Novelty (and don't read into the lightness of the word, it means something unusual or bizarre...like a plane crash), Proximity and Timeliness.
Finding out it's Lidle brings in Prominence (and for an all-sports network, their hook).
There are alot of questions yet to answered, another reson why it's getting so much coverage.
ehhhh how enlightening
I was thinking the same thing.
Yankee + Manhattan building = huge tragedy.
KC Royal + farmhouse = footnote.
Didn't five Duquesne players just get shot less than two months ago?
They are running continuous coverage because it's the NYY.
Good point. , I forgot about that.
Carry on.
