I doubt he will find the thread now.
Why is the quote balloon so bright?
Because the thread was moved from the Spurs forum, so it transfers that way.
My advice, for whatever it is worth, is only being given because the idealistic part of my good conscience is currently overriding my desire to just ignore you. And also I am bored. Do not think it is because you have done anything thus far to deserve my time, or Kori's time, or the time of anyone else who has decided to help you in this thread. You have not. But, at some point, everyone needs a bit of help growing up. I know I have, and right now it sounds like you do too.
I'll start with this, because you need to re-read and memorize what she said. All of it could not be any truer:
What I will add to that:
- Act like an adult, even if you are not. Or at least act mature. I'm not saying go to an effort to disguise your age, because that would be missing the point (no one cares if you young; they care what you can produce), but just simply act like you want to be treated. Want to be taken seriously? Act like it. Language such as "LOL," cursing, insults, misspellings and poor grammar should be thrown out of your posting strategy completely. If people do not respect you, they will not respect your product (nbaforumz). YOU are the spokesperson, the image, for your website. And if people don't like you, don't find you interesting, and/or see you are unprofessional, they will only assume the same qualities translate to your website as well.
- Asking people to do something without offering something in return is one of the quickest ways to watch them do the exact opposite (see: "come register on my site please!!"). You have to give first in order to receive, and asking for something from a complete stranger comes off as y, en led, and is behavior that projects an all-around negative image of both you and the product you are representing. As Kori and others (I sincerely apologize to those who's names I'm not mentioning) have said, first try having something that would make people WANT to visit your site. Offer something that cannot be found elsewhere, such as original articles and perspectives. You WILL NOT get people to bring their opinions to your table (and thus provide you with content) without first making the effort yourself. In fact, you will turn them away. Remember: your target audience is not charitable, so don't market while thinking they are.
- DO NOT go around and make people mad, and still hope to promote. The behavior is counterproductive, and the previous sentence should be obvious to most people. If you come to a website, like SpursTalk, first learn the dynamics, and make yourself part of the community. Show you have something to contribute, kiss ass to the big guns if you need to (providing this behavior is in proper context of course), and EARN peoples' respect. This will be a time-consuming process, but good things do not happen quickly either. DO NOT go in to "spam" -- or whatever term you want to use for it -- and bash the local ideal (i.e. going against the Spurs is not recommended marketing here), and still hope to garner the support of the community. You are after repeat and loyal customers (posters) here, not a flash-in-the-pan spree of internet hits.
But, the first step to correcting a problem is seeing and understanding the flaws in your own approach. So I'll let you decide if you should apply this advice or not.
[I'll add to this advice if I know it will actually be used, but presently, such effort is not worth my time.]
Thanks for the laugh guys.
I've been out back-to-school shopping in 95 degree humid heat with my 12 year old daughter. Parents will know what my day has been like!![]()
I needed this thread.
A good laugh will always make you feel better!![]()
chsnge your name too. It's stupid. ashhyrtbeigholercgagv
He should change his name to Kareem Abdul Jabar.
I am very happy Kori did not lock or delete this topic. It shows how far ST is above SR and all the other 2nd rate websites that have much to learn.
By keeping the topic alive it allowed others to read, and see what not to do next time.
That is why ST has the lowest Banned rate and still has twice as much traffic as SR since 60% of the on line screen names are just fake name made by Post Bot, A software many websites use to look like they have traffic.
Major props to ST!
if only MavTalk could mimic you.
Check your PM's.
