ummm, yes you can. At least in metro Detroit you can.
Dont get me wrong now, there have been violent homicides, etc of the nature we are referring to. But those are exceptions, big exceptions, rare exceptions, extremely rare...so rare, if something like this happened in saaaay, Shelby Township, youre guaranteed its the lead story on the local news.
it doesnt happen here. People get shot randomnly in the ghetto, nowhere else (again, there are rare exceptions). I can walk any street, anywhere from where I live to Warren (which borders Detroit) and back, east to west. But I wouldnt step foot past 8 mile unless I knew where I was, what I was doing and where I was going.
Or I'd be statistic.
I cant stress enough how rare a case like batman's would be here outside of Detroit....

there has been in an increase in gang activity and crime in that area. Ghetto or not, that area can get dicey.Gone downhill or not, it's not a ghetto.

I wonder what happened? More than likely something had to trigger the violent reaction as completely random acts of shooting are one of the most rare criminal occurances there are. It appears the driver was carrying some knucks and a firearm so it's possible he was the target. I'd bet money on it.
Sounds like the guy is recovering well. Gotta watch who's car you get into these days.
Gotta watch who you hang around with at all for that matter. I had close friends with guns who used to come over and hang out. But since I have a young one to worry about now, I don't need that kinda in the vicinity.
Update: Batman is home from the hospital.
