Would love Thybulle. NBA ready defender, can walk on the floor and contribute day one. Like him at 19, love him at 29
Just hope spurs come away with a couple of good prospects
Would love Thybulle. NBA ready defender, can walk on the floor and contribute day one. Like him at 19, love him at 29
So the 20 green room invitees are:
Zion Williamson
Ja Morant
RJ Barrett
Darius Garland
De'Andre Hunter
Jarrett Culver
Coby White
Cam Reddish
Jaxson Hayes
Sekou Doumbouya
Nassir Little
Rui Hachimura
Brandon Clarke
Romeo Langford
PJ Washington
Goga Bitadze
Tyler Herro
Keldon Johnson
Nickeil Alexander-Walker
Bol Bol
Thoughts ...
1) Interesting that Keldon Johnson got invited. He seems to be trending down depending on which mocks you trust.
2) I guess the talk of Bol falling all the way into the second round is overblown. Some scouts think there are a lot of negative stories being floated by teams hoping he drops and that Bol will actually get picked higher than many are predicting.
3) Nineteen of the top 20 players in Givony's latest mock draft got invited. The other was Keldon, who he has going 23.
4) The one player who Givony had in his top 20 that wasn't invited was Mfiondu Kabengele. He has Kabengele 17.
5) I don't see how Tyler Herro fits on the Spurs so I think it's a good sign that he was invited. If he goes top 19, that'd help push someone down to the Spurs. Alexander-Walker is similar in that the Spurs will probably be rooting for him to go before 19. Solid prospect; really difficult fit unless they disband their young core of White, Murray and Walker.
6) Of the players not invited, Kevin Porter Jr. is probably the biggest surprise. Is this a sign that teams are scared off due to his character red flags? Possibly.
7) Claxton, Samanic and Bazely seem to be rising but not enough to crack the green room list. That's probably good news because all three of those players are hypothetical fits on the Spurs.

5. Fernando
Not invited players I want at 29 (assuming that they haven't been taken prior);

Oh yeah, you're right. Forgot about that. I looked at the board at the end to see who was missing but forgot how ridiculously high they had him going. Good catch![]()
i agree , give me everyone on this list except Herro who is not a need
i’m ok with Alexander he could play 1 or 2 not our need but if he is there will be the BPA
i don’t have a prospect I really like for the 19th pick who is not on this list , maybe claxton or kabengele but that’s all.
last year 3 of the 19 green room players were not drafted before the 20th pick : holiday, Hutchinson and Robert Williams so I hope we’ll have some surprises so we can get a guy who slides a little bit.
Hmm a fun idea would be to pick team order then pick top 45 players and randomly announce them for bidding. Team with the highest draft order wins, but then surrenders their position. Would make a real lively draft, give teams an insight in what other teams are looking for
Dylan Windler is a better athlete than what most people think. I was just checking over the strength and agility/measurements numbers of the combine and it kind of surprised me.
Dude might be a good choice as a 3 with the 29th pick. He is more athletic than Louis King, Okpala at damn near every metric. Windler is 6'7.5" in shoes with a 6'10" wingspan and we all know he can shoot.
After looking at his combine information I can see why some mocks got him sneaking into the 1st round
I’m on board with Windler at 29. White type player. Unheralded, under the radar smart, versatile skill set.
Windler may be the second best shooter in the draft but at 29, he's not the best wing available. Roby makes a lot more sense, 6'8, 7'3 wingspan- good athlete and looks like he can be a 3/4. Good defensive stats too. Not a terrible shooter either.

not a bad list, honestly I’d be happy with any of those guys. Ideally I’d like a forward but just adding some talent to the team will be good![]()
No love for Fernando?
So is there actually a real chance King or Roby drops to 49?
Ive watched Sekou much more and have come to the conclusion that he has star potential based off his lightning speed dribbling with the ball. In the same way Giannis, Derrick White, Tony Parker uses their speed, Sekou has that eye popping speed as well. Ive moved Claxton up a tier as well. Will be really happy if we land two players in either tier 1 & 2 of my list. Players in each tier arent ranked just grouped together with no order.
Tier 1 (70% star potential, 30% role player)
Bol Bol
Claxton
Sekou
Tier 2 (50% star player, 50% role player)
Samanic
Bazley
Roby
Tier 3 (70% role player, 30% bust)
Thybulle
Grant Williams
PJ Washington
Jontay Porter
Tier 4 (50% role player, 50% bust)
Eric Paschall
Charles Matthews
Okpala
Rui
Actually really liked what I saw from Fernando, but like Roby better at 29.
King could be there at 49, also like Nwara there.
Roby looks good on paper and if he checks out with Spurs scouting I’d be happy if they pick him. Offense certainly isn’t listed as a strength or aggressiveness though. All projections have him available at 29.
For #49 I hope either Zylan Cheatham or Daquan Jeffries are still available. Both seem to be able to play teamball and work hard. Good athletes as well.
Spurs haven't really missed on a non-Euro player in the first round during the Pop era. I guess you could argue James Anderson but I think injuries plagued him I don't think you can really blame the Spurs for that one. He was a promising scorer and defender.
Well I have my favorites but I (and none of you) have any idea who the Spurs are going to end up drafting. So many of the these prospects have shortcomings from being very raw to bad lateral quickness to a number of other things. It's up to the pros to figure out which young guys will be able to work and improve their shortcoming and become a solid NBA player or maybe more if we are lucky.
I am pumped for Thursday night, I really am interested in who they think they can work with.
I have lightly scanned the plethora of threads about KL and various incarnations of how the front office sucks, I don't really pay a lot of attention to them because, why? Nonetheless, having read a few comments hear and there, it has been said this organization developed Leonard, that he wouldn't be who he is without the Spurs coaching. It's a two way street though. Coaches and can coach, vets/retired players can mentor but the player has to put in the work and Leonard did that. That is what we hope to find is not only some kid with potential but with the discipline to put in the hours in the gym to develop that potential.

More and more, I'm thinking the Spurs will not draft the "best player" that's fallen to 19, but who they zeroed in on earlier. Which would great if it's somehow both scenarios and Hachimura is still available, but otherwise, my gut is leaning towards Dylan Windler or Luka is who they'll take. Granted, my gut is still recovering from 4 days of viral gastroenteritis, but that's my guess. RC being spotted scouting Luka feels too obvious, and so normally I'd say no, but they could still pull the trigger early on him and take whatever good players fall their way on the subsequent two picks.
19
Little
Porter
Sekou
29
Windler
Roby
Johnson
Flyer
Lecque
Claxton & Porter.
Great things coming.
