A 4 month rental of Dorell Wright woudl cost more than $3M to Spurs. I doubt they will do it for such an average player. If Spurs are interested in him, they could go after him this summer.
Your 2 spur awards need to be taken away after your trade proposal, or at the very least suspended. Who ed your coffee?

I'd really like this a lot, but Miami isn't going to swap expiring contracts (and give us cash to boot). On the other hand, if we could be the third team in a Phx/Mia trade involving Amare this could be a nice part that falls into our laps.
I'm not Bruno but by my math the Grizzlies would need to give ~$400K back to the Spurs. In other words, any player on their roster.
The problem with a Mason salary dump is that it leaves a hole in the backcourt rotation.
And if we assume the possibility of Bonner/Fin for Thomas, then you have a backcourt rotation that includes a lot more Bogans and Hairston. That doesn't exactly scream "championship contender".
Any chance of getting them to throw in a draft pick? And are they on the hook for the entire salary? I thought what they were really doing was picking up his paychecks for the rest of the season so Miami could get a revenue check from the league.
Is Spurs trade a TE for Wright it would cost them $2.9M in luxury tax and about $1M in remaining salary.
Heat woudl save a lot of money by going below the tax. They could throw some cash to Spurs to help them. The closest first round pick that Miami can trade is the 2012 one.
If Spurs dump Mason and go after Thomas, it will likely be with a Bonner+Mahinmi package.
Lux tax. That's the part I forgot about. I'm so used to the Spurs being under it. RJ screws us again.![]()
Ahh...well I can't say that I like the idea of Finley playing a more prominent role down the stretch, but he's probably better than nothing.
Nate Robinson Dunks His Way to Celtics
17 February 2010
Looks like Nate Robinson can join the other Celtics that impressed on All-Star Saturday Night…
Nate the Great (?) has been traded to the Boston Celtics in a deal first reported by our boy JB. The Knicks reportedly will recieve Eddie House and a second round pick. This trade should be finalized sometime in the next 24 hours, so don’t be confused by the speculation.
Apparently the Celtics are really high on Nate, who had the option of not being traded I heard. This came out after the Grizzlies expressed interest in him but a deal could not get done. Not only this, but Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni loves Eddie House – please don’t ask me why he has any interest in him at all.
Does this deal push the Celtics back into the elite? NO! Does this deal fix their ‘locker room issues’? NO!
So why make this move?
Well, Nate is sure to give the team a jolt, which is something they desperately needed. The team has been on a decline since Christmas and this could give them some energy off the bench. I think it’s pretty safe to say Eddie House wasn’t providing that energy.
Keep in mind, the details could change in the coming hours, but a deal is 95% likely to get done.

Marc Stein: The Miami Heat have indeed expressed interest in San Antonio's Roger Mason, but the Miami deal that interested the Spurs most is no longer possible.
The Spurs were hoping to tempt Miami into absorbing Mason's $3.8 million expiring contract into a $4.3 million trade exception that would have enabled the teams to complete a deal without San Antonio needing to take back another player. A future second-round pick from the Heat would have completed the transaction.
But the Heat, dealing with their own luxury-tax issues like San Antonio and reluctant to add to their payroll, ultimately declined.
And the trade exception in question -- created through the departure of Marcus Banks in Miami's Shawn Marion trade with Toronto on Feb. 15, 2009 -- expired Monday at midnight.
The Spurs and Mason's agent, Mark Bartelstein, have mutually agreed to pursue trades before Thursday's 3 p.m. trading deadline, but it'll take a new trade construction to get Mason to Miami now if the Heat want to try again.
San Antonio is more than $10 million over the luxury-tax threshold, so the deal proposed Monday to Miami would have cut their tax bill by nearly 40 percent. Miami is roughly $2.8 million over the tax threshold.
From Wojo's twitter page...obviously doesn't tell us much more than an answer is coming soon, but it's been a slow day.
http://twitter.com/WojYahooNBART @PDcavsinsider: There are some indications out there that the Suns are getting close to giving Cavs an answer on Amar'e. As in very soon.
I don't know, but this sounds like they're looking to shed some salary in the case of Mason w/o getting players back.
Awesome bit of non-news to tease Spurs fans!
WTF? The Spurs had a team thinking about absorbing Mason's salary and they demanded a second round pick on top of it? Either RC has lost it or they have a pretty damn good fallback trade lined up.A future second-round pick from the Heat would have completed the transaction.
Yea that is weird.
...and the Spurs about to throw in the towel
sounds more like a cash decision from the Heat than a 2nd round pick holdup.
however, I would not rule out that RC has lost it.
Im surprised more people aren't mad about the fact they would trade him and get nothing back.
