There's 8 months until signing day. Nobody should be getting too excited or down about recruiting right now.
Nobody here knows about the environment of the football programs. All our information comes from third party sources. Unless you have been in the locker rooms of both teams and in the office of both head coaches when they are recruiting it's all hearsay. At the end of the day these recruits feel they relate better to Sumlin than to Strong. It's pretty simple. It's hard to get away with the "I'm not your friend, I'm your coach" style of recruiting when you have no proven results on your record. I'm sure if Strong starts to win then recruits will start to notice and commit but right now it's shown to be a pretty easy decision for these kids on who they would rather play for. Different coaches have different coaching styles and there isn't one correct way to doing things. It's whatever works and whatever translates into wins.

Per OrangeBloods, they spoke with LB Malik Jefferson and he mentioned to them he will "hopefully" be in town for the last summer camp in July. He mentioned the date of July 18th.
I'm picking nits, but it's more like second-party sources because it has come from the recruits themselves. More important, A&M might be leading the race for the Fulmer Cup (rankings are being updated) -- that speaks volumes about the environment.
Because recruits say we have a more relaxed environment? It would take an idiot to not realize Sumlin is more laid back than Strong. Any time the recruits say something regarding Sumlin being cool and calm and you guys are taking it out of context and applying it our whole football program.
Plus, how many practices, games, weight room sessions have these recruits been apart of at A&M?
not to go off topic but, strong's resume is better than sumlin's in my opinion. i would pick him over sumlin in a heartbeat. its crazy these kids aren't running to texas considering his track record. but i understand a&m is the "in" program at the time.
It sucks big time, but I can live with offensive stars like Lodge picking A&M because Sumlin's system will almost always score points and there's only one ball. However, it's a bitter pill to swallow when defensive studs pick A&M because Sumlin has never had anything close to a good defense. My worry is that could change if he continues to pick up the Alakas, Harveys, Boyds, etc. They could become a true contender if they ever get that side of the ball in order, so Strong has to have a great 2014 on defense and put a stop to that.
Speaking of which, LB Richard Moore of Cedar Hill also committed to A&M.
24/7 reporting this morning that A&M is back in the lead for CB Kris Boyd of Gilmer despite his family preferring him to be at Texas.
His plan right now is to get through the majority of his senior season before committing, so that's the good news for UT.
Sumlin cannot coach defense.
People sure are quick to forget that our defense in 2012 was pretty good.
Sherman's recruits?
Didn't you just say cannot "coach" defense?
Yep. That defense was stacked, and you saw what happened the next year, just like what happened at Houston. When he doesn't have a defense that is not stacked, or give him an average defense, they will look ty.
Sumlin is recruiting at a higher level than Sherman ever did at Texas A&M. Sherman left us with nothing defensively in terms of young guys. We played a ton of true freshman last year.
Sherman got you the best player the school had ever seen.
Was he on defense?
The goods..... Aggy has started getting all the coddled recruits that Turd got used to go after, while players who care and are willing to put the work in go elsewhere....
Update on OL recruiting from Inside Texas...a lot of people have been wondering what the offer to OL Tyler Moore means for guys like OL Madison Akamnonu and OL Garrett Thomas. Well, according to the report, Akamnonu has not been in touch with UT since he visited campus in May and Thomas talks to Coach Wickline daily. That's likely your explanation for the offer to Moore. Seeing as how Akamnonu comes from an OU family, that's probably his destination.
Inside Texas did confirm that this last UT summer camp will be on Friday, July 18th.
WR Ryan Newsome told them he will be there.
2016 QB Malik Henry of Thousand Oaks, CA says he will be visiting UT in July, per Inside Texas.

so is the starting quarterback spot going to come down to heard and ash?
I don't see any way it's not Ash if he's healthy, but he's so injury prone that he could go down in fall camp and it wouldn't shock me.
Is he going to make it through the first big hit?
