Mahinmi would be a nice get. Wouldn't mind him at all. Then Georgie can come back next year.
So when you factor in age and money which would you rather have Ian or Pau?

Eh.. I'd rather have Ian.
That Mirza deal seems a little too much. Maybe it's the third year.
While Pau Gasol would be a nice get, who would you rather have Pau or Ian?
Ian is exactly the type of center we need defensively. He's mobile, athletic, can play the pnr and is not broken offense. He's not too old so you can build a core with him.
As for Pau, he's offensively very gifted and can pass and can guard the post etc but can you even play him in the fourth quarter against golden state or Cleveland?
Right now I would take ian at the same price which I'm guessing would be 10-14 million per. Al's signing gives me hope one of those two can be had for 10. Gonna need some cap to sign bertans or borrousis.
Anyways who you got Pau or Ian?
Ian all day.
Ian guards everywhere on the floor.
Read my mind...
Whatever it would take to get either Hill or Ian, just throw it at Dedmon.
Even if Ian signs somewhere else, I don't want Jordan Hill
Spurs have to try and improve this year - they are a damn good team that needs youth & athleticism (amongst other things). But it is a fine balance.
Can't blow it for next year for no reason. Only do that if you truly believe you get someone that elevates your chances. On the flip side, while everyone is looking at "value" you can't just sign anyone. You need to improve and also have to find guys who can play, not ones who will just come cheaply.
But if you are going to err, you have to do it cheap youth..
Even at 36, Pau is enticing, but I'd prefer Ian with this defensive skills, and then the Spurs could blow the rest of their load on Dirk and call it an offseason!
"But we'd rather have Al Jefferson who's none of those things."

Spurs need some offense however from the 5 if they aren't getting an upgrade at PG. It's tough. Spurs defense would still be damn good with Ian and he can finish better than current Tim, but that would be 2 spots again (PG/C) that really can't score with no upgrades on the bench either at guard.
Tough, but may be what we deal with this year until SA can do more next year or swing a trade mid-season.
I wonder why, my guess is that they think he'll be in line for mozgov money. I hope not. If he could come in at a reasonable price...
I mean, at best, we are looking at 14M in cap space? More likely 10M. That is not enough to bring in Ian or Pau + other players.
Spurs have to sign Boban, likely Ginobili, Bertans....this is rough.
Good get for the Grizz. They sorely needed outside shooting. I'd flinch at the price, except it now appears to be the norm.
I don't think the offense is a big deal. Ian would score more than Duncan has been. And would have better against OKC.
Pau's scoring would be offset by his terrible defense. And diva demands for touches.
Imagine Ian on pick and roll defense instead of Duncan ... Spurs defense is even fiercer. Teams will be strangled.
Unless RC tells Manu, Tim and Parker to hit the bricks
I trust the FO to clear enough space to make it work if the free agents are motivated to be here.
Or trade Diaw?
I'm sorry but![]()

This is ridiculous
Welp, Conley isn't going anywhere. Dallas fails again. Lol, no Whiteside, no Conley.
Mavs will be stuck with Howard probably. Poor Dirk
