Green gave up good position like 6 times to go for putback dunks that weren't there. That's not a characteristic of a Spurs type player.

Daye played a very good game. After some performances early on, he ended SL on a high note, so that made me happy.
Ayres should change his name back to Pendergraph, since he was better with the previous moniker. He is the worst finisher around the rim I have ever seen. I have never seen a guy brick so many dunks in my life. He is so good at bricking dunks, he gives multiple efforts in games. I want him gone from the team. Give his spot to Green immediately. Green may be green, but at least he is a better finisher and is better in the passing lanes. BTW, is it just me or does Ayres share hands with Nazr? I swear neither could catch a cold, much less a low post pass.
Anderson needs some seasoning, but he looked ok in the SL. Once we bulk him up a little bit and move him to PF, he should be fine in the Diaw role.
I hope this is a joke, look at 90% of my messages, they are in all caps, and i said things like "this feels like game 3 when carter hit that 3 against us" (I made it blue this time because you are stupid)
But I guess you are too special ing ed to understand that anything is a SUMMER LEAGUE thread is automatically not going to be serious. Its a Saturday night and people were looking for entertainment, nobody actually cares we lost
Keep trying
- Austin Daye's shot selection was bad. Lucky he got fouled on several occasions.
- Kyle Anderson cannot do anything on defense except for stripping the ball (which he is pretty good at).
- Udoka probably chose Ayres because the Wizards (and everyone in the world) doesn't expect Ayres to do anything. Going for the decoy/surprise factor but seriously?!?! JEFF AYRES?!?! The play wasn't bad, it was the player whom the play was drew up for.
- Jeff Ayres.![]()
There was alot of this tonight, but I think we can attribute some of that to him pressing himself to make plays and get noticed.
He's inarguably better than Ayers though, and I can't fault the man for pressing tonight.
We should give him another look.
Jeff Ayers/Pendergraph/whateverthe :
Thy name is Frustration.
Kyle Anderson apologists already? Smh he's good but y'all hyping it
I guess you caught me, I actually care a lot, Im gonna go cut my wrists now
You are too stupid to talk to, Im done
Play was fine, I'd say most would agree with that, but the player he chose for it is what made it bad. Never, ever should give Ayres the ball in that situation to win a game. Bad coaching.
Ayres isn't characteristic of a Spurs type player either though, I suppose we can manipulate the landscape to fit the narrative. I've never seen so much trash come out of one player in my life. He's literally stealing money.
Boylen is a ing idiot if he recommended Ayres to the Spurs.
Call me an end-of-the-bench optimist. I always tend to have faith that Pop/RC see something in certain guys that I don't. I believed in NDC until the bitter end.
I went from optimist to giving up on Ayres over the course of those last two possessions. Trade him for a washing machine and sign whatever 6'10 guy can run up and down the court at the UTSA gym.
Didn't like Green? IMO he was the most consistent and brought effort; already better than Ayers by a mile.
I don't think I've seen a worse sequence of plays then Ayres in the last minute of that "playoff" game. MAYBE prime turd towers or 6.
Daye can play though. KA needs polish. Thomas is a SF version of Dejuan Blair. Cotton isn't an NBA player. Green and Morris are basketbautistic. Blue made some big plays but he is what he is, a wing without one particular NBA level skill.
/summerleague
This was just too obvious. I'm not going get on someone for being out of position on the defensive end a handful of times. If I did, I'd get on Ayres for being out of position all night long. At the least, he deserves a camp invite. However, if the Spurs have no plans to move/cut Ayres or Daye by the end of training camp, he probably won't.
People here getting pissed at a summer league game. Haha
He's not a rookie. Bringing effort isn't enough, especially since it was selfish and constantly hurt the team. Say what you want about Ayres, but he knows how to get out of people's way. He's not remotely a selfish player. I don't really think Ayres should make the team, either if the Spurs bring Baynes back. But it makes little sense to eat his salary to give Green a spot as the seventh big.
How did Cotton play? Any insight on him on how he's looked this SL and if he can compete in the league
Missed most of the game but came back just in time to see Ayres up like usual. Petty confident that Jeff's the worst big in the NBA. Still wondering how he managed to get MLE money from an NBA team. Must have a fantastic agent.
Nope their just all trolling, right spurs 4 the win?
The Spurs need to cut their losses, tbh... based on this game, it's clear KA isn't a clutch player and likely will never be. Cleveland has been shopping Wiggins on the Love sweepstakes, maybe we can interest them to trade Wiggins to us instead. A package like KA/Cojo/Bonner/two 2nd round picks might just do it (if you don't want to part with Bonner, maybe they'll take Baynes?). I don't know how the whole salary thing works, but I don't care, where there's a will there's a way.
I don't want Wiggins. He's making too much money to get knocked out in first round.
I missed the game. Curious to read some objective criticism about how players looked overall through the game and rest of summer league. What aspect of their game is more polished than other parts.
What were they primarily having players do out on the court on both sides.
Provides a better grasp at what the coaching staff is looking at and what they expect them to work on or what to avoid any further with.
Caught two of the games. Anderson looked promising further down the road. Daye has potential, Cotton looked capable at times looking like a guy to generate offense off the bench, but has his work cut out for him.
I forget what I saw in the rest of the roster.
