They're going to cut out a herniated/bulging disk.
It's the last disk on the last vertabrae(sp).
I'll be out of commision for 6 to 8 weeks, if I don't die that is.

You're not going to die. You're going to be fine. Just think good thoughts and put a bunch of positive energy out there.
Have you gotten a second opinion? Most disc bulging can be relieved with time and some physical therapy. Not to mention a great tolerance for pain. They told me I would have to have surgery and said, " no!". My Brother did it and he was out for 6 weeks AND he still has pain.
It's pinching two nerves and the pain is unbearable.
It needs to get done.
It's the getting done part that's freaking me out right now.

Not to worry; it's a pretty simple surgery. Have you ever been in the hospital before? I think they are just doing those with overnight stays right? The most important thing is to get up and move; if it hurts, take the pain med. Don't try and tough it out med free because it'll just hinder your progress. Walk straight and breathe deep, oh and make sure the back of your gown is secured!!!

It's raining buckets outside today. Even with wearing my super cute rain boots and rolling them up, my jeans are soaked through from the knees down.
