Morris had a bad game to end SL and no one ever wants that. Cotton finally pulled about even with him for overall performance. He still doesn't run the offense as well and needs to learn the very basics of defense, but if you squint hard enough you can at least think he could to some Mills type stuff in the NBA.

Green's energy is impressive, but he should be farther along in defense considering he spent a year in the Spurs system already. I don't think he did anything to make the Spurs think of waiving anyone to make room for him.

Daye is just annoying at times. It would be nice to think this is the start of something good, but I don't see his getting away with all the crap he was trying in SL. That may have been the point -- to see what he might be able to do, but man, he took a lot of time and touches to find out.

I don't know if the Spurs have a better handle on what they are going to do with Anderson. I don't think he ran enough point to prove anything there. Of course needs work on his shot and defense. Should get a bunch of time in preseason, then taper off til he goes to Austin. As I said before I think the pace there will only help his development.

SL mission accomplished. The Spurs got to see some of their options for the future. The game against the Wizards was awesome to watch, due to it's edge-of-your-seat compe iveness. The only slight disappointments I had in the quarterfinal was that Bryce Cotton, one of the best scorers on the Spurs SL team, didn't shoot enough in the 4th quarter. Scoring did not appear to be Bryce's role there. I also thought that, as effective as he was in this game, Deshaun Thomas deserved more minutes. It's a shame Darius Morris wasn't able to help the team, as he had done in several of the other SL games.

Looking ahead, Kyle should be able to get some minutes next season and Cotton could potentially ease the pain of Patty being out for the first half (or more).

Anderson is right about where he should be as the 30th pick going to the Champions. He had some holes and flaws but the Spurs are the right team to help him fill those. Anyone who seriously thought he'd be a rotation player next year on a championship team needs to take a look in the mirror and ask themselves why they know so little about the Spurs/basketball in general and if they should be paying better attention.

Kyle Anderson, a ST quoted "lottery talent" has been easily outplayed by Austin Daye. I dont know if that says more about Daye, or Anderson, or the posters.

lmao - kyle anderson sucks at defense, you turd bags on here get all crazy if he almost has a steal. His offensive game is terrible. His game made Daye look like "lottery talent"

I didn't get to go to SL like I normally do this year, so had to settle for watching just 3 games. From what I saw, there is no one I am high on at all. That doesn't mean players didn't do ok, but no one showed me anything different from their scouting reports. No one had the "Gary Neal" moments for me where you really thought: this guy has a legit shot to make the team and I would really like that to happen. The only player that came close to this was Daye. He did a lot of bad things (shot selection/selfish), but his skill set, despite missing a ton of shots, was on full display. I'm just not sure if he has anything resembling a spark mentally. Will he engage? Will he buy in? I think he works hard, but I am not sure if it's for the right reasons.

I am completely soured on Ayres. He's not an NBA player. Just not making mistakes and being a pretty good teammate does not an NBA player make.
Mental toughness is what makes a good/great player. Daye really seems to lack in that department if you ask me. His body language a lot of the time is atrocious out there on the court too. He just doesn't carry himself well out there, and that doesn't really inspire teammates or give them confidence in you when you look frustrated most of the time, as Austin did in this SL. It looks like a chore for him and it doesn't really look like he has a passion for the game or loves the game. Something just doesn't seem right with him.

I will say that he played OK, not great, but he played decent for most of the Summer League on the offensive end of the court. What did people think of his overall defense? Those of you that watched all the games?

Ayres needs to be cut. No reason to have him back. Use that roster spot for someone else. There's still a few good free agents out there. Blatche is one that I was interested in before he signed with Brooklyn a couple of years ago. I know he's decent offensively, but can he at least player better defense than Ayres? Anyone watched him enough to comment on it? Main reason I mentioned Blatche is because if you cut Ayres and want to replace him 1 for 1, Blatche might be a good option. If the Spurs aren't after the same position with Ayres' roster spot, then I'm still interested in Aminu and possibly Marion. I don't really want the Spurs to give the full MLE to any of the players that are left out there.

Do you guys think any of the remaining free agents are worth the MLE?

Agree, there is no one on the SL that I would want on SA.

Sign Baynes, Sign Marion, move on with life.

    You didn't watch any games.

Anderson looked like a rookie in summer league whose best use is being determined by the staff.

    I saw it.

You didn't and you can't deflect that.

there is nothing for me to deflect, I always respond on topic. Anderson looked like . Not lottery talent, but by someone who couldnt even be Austin Daye....

Tip to you and staff - practice player make him buy a ticket to the game.

There are plenty of guys in SL (not just with Spurs) who have showed very good things. Spurs SL had some interesting guys too. No big surprises (at least not IMO) - everyone was pretty much as advertised (which isn't bad). I mean, I know people want KA to run point, but damn.

Who did you think was "good" as advertised? absolutely zero of our players could play both ends of the court.

lol - you pretending to know what I do. must be really mad bro. Anderson reeked of media hype trash which is exactly why he didnt do combine. not athletic enough to compete because hes not smart or skilled enough. It's the typical "I was bigger than you in HS and college, and now I cant do anything" syndrome. You see this 99% of the time with hyped big men.

Kyle Anderson. Daye (maybe a little better). Good as advertised doesn't mean star. Doesn't even mean guaranteed minutes. It just means that their strengths looked like actual strengths. Obviously, they all have many weaknesses as well. I have been vocal about Daye and what I think about him (have never really liked him), but he no doubt has some intriguing tools.

Kyle Anderson was just a bonus pick with some very good skills. The doubts that caused him to slip to 30 still persist and might prevent him from ever really doing anything in the NBA, but he has some very good skills already.

People liked Cotton, I did not. He had moments and even he was about as good as advertised, I just don't think that his good is good enough.

But it's SL and many of these guys (with the exception of most of the lottery picks) are fringe guys.
