Ok, San Antonio is too poor to support an NBA franchise.
You've made your point.
after they jacked up the ticket prices on upper 200 level seats it's not all that surprising.
Ok, San Antonio is too poor to support an NBA franchise.
You've made your point.
Unfortunately for the Spurs, all of the nouveau riche got that way through shrewd frugality, and won't go to playoff games unless they are wooed by marketing, or get free T-shirts and hot dogs.
St. Louis Spurs!
i guess we also expect susie and todd to enjoy 2.5 to 3 hours sitting in the common section when they could be at home in their pottery barn furnished 'living space' watching the game on todd's brand new 50" hd plasma flat panel.
San Antonians can't afford 50" plasma TVs.
as long as the spurs insist on squeezing blood out of the stone.
nah, all of the great hummer h1 driving upper crust in the msa surely can.
Yes, Marcus the socialist surfaces again.
not even on a payment plan?
Thats the solution, good ole layaway. People can buy tickets and do a payment plan, no payments for a year or same as cash for a year!!
Those don't exist. You said they're poor so they're poor and can't take a 6.5% increase in prices.
They can't even afford T-shirts.
nah, i was told they exist and that's why we should admonish san antonio for not supporting the spurs no matter how much they opportunistically raise ticket prices.
I was told they are too poor too afford clothing so it doesn't matter what they charge for tickets and we should blame the team for their poverty of San Antonians.
Compe ion and a ty economy. The Tigers are at home and the Wings may be playing a WCF G7 at home as well.
nah, some are trying to blame the fans who are lower middle class/working poor for not paying more for the same seats in this series.
I don't quite understand.
If i choose to show my support by buying tickets I am a bigger fan? I have supported my team plenty. (still paying for it i might add) .
Ultimately, i think its on the SPURS marketing department to SELL their product like one suggested.
I am perfectly comfortable supporting my team from home on my 80 inch plasma ()
GO SPURS!
Maybe if SPURS meet Pistons I will get the amex out for a game or two.......(just being honest) and (spoiled)
Again, you're saying San Antonio can't afford major league sports.
That's fine.
It's not a big deal then.
Anaheim can afford them.

oh lord!
Those are the seats they should have dropped the prices too after game 1 was not a sellout, to ensure game 2 would be. This is weird the attendance for the year was 9th out of 30 right in line with where it has alway been since they moved to the SBC/AT&T center and now suddenly they can't sell out a west final game when they never had this problem before.
Prices always rise during the playoffs. Those games are usually considered more important to the fans.
sure, some san antonians can't afford to attend games when the prices on upper level tickets are increased significantly in the later rounds of the postseason. claiming that will force a team to leave town that has a significant breakup fee in their contract with bexar county is spurious, at best.
damn they make 80 inch plasma's? NICE
LOL, how is the Spurs marketing department going to sell the tickets if no one is going to buy them.
If it wasn't important to sell out games then there wouldn't be an article on it. It only adds to the mantra of Spurs suck, Spurs don't deserve to win it all, if San Antonians can't even show up to the games or leave early, it's just ty, why is that so hard to understand?![]()
Off topic, Chump, but why does your team say Atlanta?!?
It was probably a Ticketmaster snafu, but the excuse-mongering has been extremely funny.
What we've learned is that Thad and Tiffany out in Bulverde can't afford to go to Spurs games, unless they get free T-shirts and hot dogs, because once they buy their 50" plasma screen and put gas in their Hummer to haul it home, they can't afford clothing or food.
are you going to the game?
Id be willing to bet 50% at least of the people ing that the game isnt going to be sold out, are also not going to the game themselves.
How about...instead of players making 50 million dollar contracts, they make 30 million dollar contracts. The org can then use that extra 20 mil to offset lower the cost of the damn tickets.
hrmm
to be honest as a Spur fan not living in San Antonio it really pisses me off that Spur fans have excuses not to go to the game. THERE IS NO EXCUSE, tickets are not THAT expensive. I would go into debt and go to playoff games in a second, I would not even think twice about it.
It seems San Antonians would rather go buy beers and tequila than go to a Spur playoff game. It's very pathetic and sad. Let's hope the basketball Gods don't punish us for being spoiled.
Are those seats the ones that didn't sell? How is this different from any other Spurs playoff run?Not really. Fees can be paid. All depends on the bottom line. If the owners think they'll do much better somewhere else, they'll move.claiming that will force a team to leave town that has a significant breakup fee in their contract with bexar county is spurious, at best.
Oh, the populist "players make too much money" excuse.
Sure, the Spurs can lower payroll $20 million. Then you don't have to worry about failing to sell out WCF games, because the Spurs will have gone 29-53 and missed the playoffs in the first place.
But maybe they can play up-tempo.
nah, thad and tiffany are headed over to todd and susie's to watch the game on todd's new hd plasma and for drinks. thad wouldn't mind if they were into swinging because he's had his eye on susie's tight little frame for some time now. in any event, it beats the drive to the at&t and sitting with the sweaty proletariat for 3 hours in 'club 200'.
And that makes them the worst fans in the league, because anywhere else, fans would kill to be in the actual arena.
not sure if this thought has been voiced yet (since I came to the discussion late) but I think this quandary is very simple.
People expected us to play the Mavericks if we made it to the WCF (or at least the Warriors), and now they're like wtf, this is gonna be boring. Bring on Detroit or Cleveland, because Dallas losing has become a sort of killjoy.
Even as dedicated Spurs fan, I saw the bill of Spurs-Jazz as both boring and worth skipping over in favor of Yanks-Sox, Mad Money or whatever else is on. The Jazz do not excite me at all, and sometimes its even painful to watch their games.
the tix were in 'club 200'.
that fee would add about 20% more to the price of any exit for holt cat.Fees can be paid. All depends on the bottom line. If the owners think they'll do much better somewhere else, they'll move.
that's pathetic. because you know what? the players would like the arena to be sold out. they would like to know ppl care enough to go through the trouble of going to the arena to watch them live.
biggest reason i can see...
- the opponent this round.
higher ticket prices are an excuse, not the problem. if one was really excited, they'd find a way to come up with the scratch needed to get in the door.
not when todd could kick back on that brand new suede chair and ottoman susie picked up at restoration hardware while checking out susie's sweet little ass as she serves up limoncellos.
All of them?Who says he would end up paying that?that fee would add about 20% more to the price of any exit for holt cat.
Why does Marcus hate rich people?
