I hope Gooden turns out to be a bruiser for us.

Gooden needs to do this to all the Lakers -

or maybe just to Sasha, either or...

...and not only can he hurt other players, he goes after Refs too.

Gooden is a lot better than Thomas at this stage. He's bigger, taller, and 9 years younger.

Remember, this dude has some talent. He was the # 4 draft pick, 1st team all-American in college, and was 1st-team all-rookie. He started for a team that made the NBA finals two years ago. We now have some depth among our bigs as well. He has scored double digit 7 straight years and can rebound.

    Stats

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/...goodedr01.html

Looking at these stats, he was a top 10 rebounder from '05 to '07, and he is only 27 years old. He has just had some minor injuries recently, his per 36 minute numbers have not dropped a bit,a dn ahve actually gone up. He also shoot 87% from the line, that nice as well.

Factor in that Joe Smith is a fossil and Ben Wallace broke his leg, Bynam is out, and KG is battling injuries and slowing dow, and things look good for # 5!
    Correct. SAY IT AGAIN

So, you say he might do the same thing Pops did AND is a proven veteran!?
    Who would have thought that...

the addition of Gooden won't make a bigger difference than KT's move did to the spurs last season IMHO. even a scrub player like Bonner and mason can be a gold once he totally meshes up into the complicated systerm of spurs team, but Gooden will have problem adapting himself to the spurs due to his low bball IQ even though the systerms of spurs and cavs are quite similar.

I don't really expect Gooden is the answer this season, but I'm hoping for the best. I think it's gonna take a miracle for us to get past the Lakers.

I just never know which Spurs team is going to show up against PJ's Lakers. Too often it's the "assume the fetal position" version. And we've never beaten them when they've had home court advantage.

But I can't imagine Gooden is any worse than Oberto, so that's a plus.

I don't believe the Lakers or Phil Jackson are distressed as a result of this pickup: it just levels out the playing field a bit and makes the potential matchup that much more interesting.

That was nice by Drew Gooden in throwing that down. Yao completely mistimed his block and he went head on. In his rookie days, that would have been a foul. He was taught to go sideways to go for the block not meet someone head on. But I digress..nice throwdown by Gooden.

I remember Gooden when in the Cavs and they were getting blown out by 20 in a certain game. Lebron was already on the bench and Gooden tried to do a dunk bouncing it off the backboard. yes, when Cavs were losing by 20 at home

Well, he missed and Lebron got so pissed he stood up and walked to the end of his bench and sat down.

Gooden is a stupid mother er but he still gonna help the Spurs. Just don't expect a brain surgeon...

Eh...It was alright. Pops Mensu-Bonsai would've shattered the rim, shot clock and shut the electricity off within an 8 block radius of the arena with dunks.

How does Gooden effect the rotations? Pop is obviously starting to set up for the playoffs. Mason's increased play at point is some sort an adjustment in case Hill's PG play isn't what Pop wants. We now have 4 bigs[ Bonner, Thomas, Oberto & Gooden] who each bring something different to the table. Gooden is talented enough to start on many teams but, for now, he will be a role player with the other bigs. Does he take time from Thomas and Bonner or is he Tim's primary replacement, playing with Thomas or Bonner? I like the reasons that Gooden stated why he signed with the Spurs. If he can pick up the defensive system quickly enough I think he makes us better than the Lakers who are primarily an offensive minded team who don't want to play at our pace. This is our year again and Gooden is that gift from nowhere.

Knowing Pop, the hernia thing is just false information "leaked" through his CIA channels in order for Spurs to land him.

Godden, 13pts 15 rebounds 2 blocks and 4 bonehead plays tonight.

I'm guessing that most of Gooden's minutes come when Tim is on the bench. So he becomes Duncan's backup, earning more or less minutes depending on matchups and how Bonner is shooting. I think KT's minutes stay about the same and Oberto basically get booted out of the rotation.
