Totally agree. Silva is still a jerk. If he had another JJ guy in there tonight he would have played around again for 10 min or more..
His first immediate reaction was, "maybe I can play this off"
Respect level is back to zero for Chael.
Totally agree. Silva is still a jerk. If he had another JJ guy in there tonight he would have played around again for 10 min or more..
You mean Alves? He is too short to fight at MW. He will get destroyed by reach. Unless he plans on being a catch weight champ, Alves is in a really bad spot.
How is Silva a jerk? He talked NO trash. Took care of business and was respectful. Youre talking about Chael Sonnen. His mouth has made him a joke for years. Silva is a good guy. IMO he wants to fight a guy like Sonnen and when he gets a flop like Maia, it makes him angry so he mocks them.
I explained to you why i think Silva is a jerk in great detail after the Maia fight..
You know why i think he is..
It looked like that, but he was sincere. It's hard to explain, but when you're training, you get caught in a sub, you tap, you keep going. That becomes natural. You fight like you train. In the fight, he got caught in a triangle, naturally tapped, but definitely did not intend to. I really wouldn't even be surprised if he wasn't mentally conscience about tapping. I did a job of explaining that, but there is something I'm trying to say.
And he backed up every word he said. Deserves an immediate rematch. Didn't lose to the better man, but he did lose. And he accepted that. Although, the guy who 'won' did such a job he had to make excuses after the fight.
He needs to lose weight as in muscle mass or go to MW..
Forget success at MW the guy is likely ruining his health with this extreme weight cutting.. He looked like a zombie out there
Rogan made a comment to the effect of "THere's no reason for a guy to have pectoral muscles like that" and it's probably true. He's got so much muscle on him and it's no use to him when the weight cutting is draining all his strength anyway.
Dude this isnt the first time he has tried to play that card..
I'm too damn drunk to have reasonable thought and there was way too many posts during the fight. I don't see how yall do it. I'm too damn nervous to even sit down during a fight. I'll actually be posting about the fight tomorrow. All I gotta say is, I haven't been this upset since Derek Fischers .04 sec shot. That's still #1 btw and it'll never be beaten
I ordered the PPV and just enjoyed it and posted afterwards.. This was the craziest night i can remember. Sonnen must feel cursed. To lose that way and have his biggest foe (sub defense) bite him in the ass 2 min away from the greatest win of his career..

I just can't stop watching this forum. Everything's been said and I'm still depressed. Just gotta think back to 5 hours ago when I thought Silva was gonna KO Sonnen in the 1st or 2nd. Still, my boy Fitch won in typical boring domination! That's about the time I lost my voice screaming. The legend wins by a crazy submission!
And Guida...I still don't know what the finished that fight. And Big Country..he's a in trooper
U.S.-3
Brazil-2
Karma is a , aint it?
This fight has got me thinking. I think Silva struggles with GSP, but for some reason I see Anderson having his way with a guy like Rashad Evans..
Like Silva doesn't have some karma headed his way? I think you're the only one who doesn't recognize this.
Silva fans better be thanking the almighty that Dan Henderson isn't in the UFC cause he would take a whole lot away from this fight. And anyone who doesn't think GSp wins in a matchup has major brain damage. Just play out the scenario in your head and see what happens. Guarantee it's just like tonight except we'll actually hear the final bell ring and Silva will have blood gushing from his mouth/nose/one or both his eyes
Yeah he may get a crucifix against bad fighters on TUF but he's not going to get that on any worthwhile fighter in the UFC.
I ing hate Roy Nelson. I can't believe he just won't get in good shape. He's got a lot of natural talent but its all wasted.
Congrats on winning the punching bag championship, Roy.
I can't believe people want to give Nelson respect. What good is it having a chin like that when you won't get in shape? Its a waste, IMO. I don't respect people who piss on natural talent.
I agree with your point, but I don't think it doesn't apply to Roy Nelson. His fat is mostly strategic...what ruined the fight for him was 1) exhausting his arm strength on desperate takedowns because 2) JDS hits like a surgeon cuts people open. He was hurting but kept engaging - when a guy backpedals cuz he's too fat in the later rounds, then there's a problem. I honestly don't think Roy expected JDS to defend his takedowns that good.
About 8:00 last night I hear a little voice in my head whispering a warning: "Change some picks...". Thank heavens I listened; if I'd stuck with Nelson and Alves I'd have gone 1-4.
I know these stats don't mean anything considering the results but:
MMA Live Amazing stat from @Computstrike: Chael Sonnen outlanded Anderson Silva, 289-29, setting record for most strikes landed in a fight.
MMA Live Even more amazing stat from last night? Anderson Silva had only been hit with 208 strikes COMBINED in his first 11 @UFC fights. WOW.
His corner man Matt Lindland did it too against Bustamante. But it just didn't bother me. It's not like it was the most conscience decision in the world, he was running on emotion. That can cause most of us to do stupider stuff than 'pretending' to tap, if that's what he did. Either way, the rematch will happen and I'll support the guy who made a mistake and tried to go back on it for a few seconds over the dude who made excuses after winning the fight he got his ass handed to him so bad.
Anyways, the rest of the card rocked too. Fitch/Alves wasn't a great fight, but I didn't expect it to be. With a weight cut like that, Thiago Alves was hardly game and Jon Fitch would probably be too much for him regardless...Just about every fight Fitch is in will look similar to that other than GSP. Alves is too small to move up to 185, his arms are too short and he's too short (5'9 middleweight who's a striker? No thanks.) But my God, he needs to go to a nutritionist (or me, I'm an exercise and sports science major) and change his diet completely. I'm not saying he's not eating healthy, I'm saying there's certain things about his diet that are going to cause him to be a jacked mofo. I guy with his frame should have no problem making 170.
Clay Guida/Rafael Dos Anjos I wasn't huge on because I'm not a fan of either. I liked watching Dos Anjos' muay thai though, kicks were great. Crap ending to the fight, but that's not anybody's fault, I'm sure he didn't want to break his jaw. Dos Santos/Nelson was one of the biggest displays of heart I've ever seen. That's about all I've got to say about that fight. And Matt Hughes, never felt better for the dude, it's the best he's looked in years. He showed power in his hands which are always being called questionable, and he choked out a legitimate black belt, enough said.
I'm delaying my anger !
I'm so pissed that ... I'M PISSED !!1
ing Silva was demolished.
Nobody in the world believed in the trash Sonnen thrown, about one sided pounding.
But he did it and in countdown show you could see his determination. Second to none. That he would gave up everything and start from the beginning to get the gold medal.
And after the fight he was disappointed and said he needs to regroup because he needs to be no1 and do not want silver - to me that was astonishing. He said no word about Silva, that's shows you that he meant it when he said he wants to be a champ and beating Anderson is just a bonus.
Talking smack to Anderson was a strategy and some truth that people was for some reason avoiding.
Alves needs to keep himself lower then 200lbs
MW is not for him. long time ago i said that he will have to do it. But simple thing. lose weight, and he can lose some muscle weight. bigger muscles do not give you more power.
As for Vitor - I think he really would exploit Andersons stand up, like shogun did it with Machida.
As for GSP - well I told you so?
yes I did.
Hughes with lucky punch IMO and Almeida did not recovered. to me it was a strange fight. Almeida looked really good in his last two performances. Let's see what UFC will do with Matt. 170 is stacked right now.
Fitch vs winner of Kos vs GSP prob some March or April
Then maybe if Silva will not move up we will see GSP vs Anderson
