It seems that Temple played better.
I still give a slight edge to Jerrells over Temple for the 3rd pg position.
can you imagine how badly we would have lost if they hadn't been resting lebron?
oh, wait!
It seems that Temple played better.
I still give a slight edge to Jerrells over Temple for the 3rd pg position.
he shot well from long range which tells me he only needs to be on the court with Duncan or Splitter and not trying to create for himself or other, play the Steve Kerr role and pass instead of shooting unless you are open at the 3.
over a 6'6/6'7 guard who DEFENDS and plays multiple positions and can shoot the three, nah.
So far, he hasn't showed it in preseason.
don't really mind him being a volume shooter as long as his FG% is good and he keeps the D honest. We really need a constant 3 point threat.....something that was clearly missed last season.
idk man, he looked better tonight + adding recovering from injury + solid last year => still ahead of cj
however, i would say that pop will wait until the end of pre-season for making the decision b/c it's close; if temple keeps up this type of game, i think he will be chosen
I'm still thinking they aren't an either/or situation anymore. CJ can run the team and defend, and Temple has the potential to defend guys that nobody else on the team can. Might see both kept for a while until Temple has a chance to catch up.
Don't understand how some people think Neal is worthy enough to get quality minutes in the regular season.
The guy is not a NBA player.
He proved last year in regular season, he is only going to play spot minutes at best waiting on someone to get injured at worst and at the moment recovering from an injury. If Jerrels gets hurt I expect him to come back worse too. I'd take the proven player who adds some dimension and can cover other positions if others get hurt thus adding/keeping size. I like Temple at the backup point at his size, just for defense and shooting. Jerrells is a volume scorer who can't run the team, although he has improved when things get rough, I would expect him to revert whereas Temple came in replacing a star guard when things were rough and played well. You can never overlook stuff like that just like when Simmons hit that shot the other night, everyone was saying they wanted him out but I expected him to be poised. I watch things others don't and I expected him to be okay based on what I was seeing from him. It's not just speed and quickness but smarts and demeanor.
One might suggest that "I watch things others don't" = "I see what I want to see."
no, because the evidence or proof was provided with results. to see what you want suggests making things up, which I did not. Now I could have been wrong in my assessment but in the case of what occurred the other night, the evidence speaks for itself. Although, I understand where you are coming from it can only be applied if I was making up stuff that wasn't happening sorta like what the commentators do while watching games.
So Simmons is great because he hit a basket at the end of a game he stunk up, Jerrells can't run the team even though he's been doing it since summer league, Temple is great because he played great last May. You're picking and choosing from that much data in order to take small pieces from random times to justify your perspective. I call that seeing what you want to see. The simple fact is what Libri said: He hasn't been showing anything so far.
Temple did well last season but based on preseason performance, so far, I give the edge to Jerrells. Preseason performance has to count for something.
No, you're making me say something I never said. Who said Simmons was great? I said I expected a mature level head in the game from Simmons when everyone was callling for him to be pulled and he sank a shot after stinking it up. That was the point but other things went into that obviously unnoticed by the masses. Not a problem to me. I understand why they wanted him out but if you go back and read the comments you;'ll see I was commenting for Pop to leave him in.
My assessment of Temple in comparison to Jerrells is Temple is proven and recovering and Jerrells is playing well of late it really doesn't matter per se who is kept because of the role they are expected to play so my thing is I'd keep Temple for defense, size and ability to play multiple position. These are facts.Whether he plays well or Jerrells fizzle out are unknown but he obviously play well statistically.
Now that's not seeing what I want thats just an opinion. It will not be proven or disproven because one or both will most likely be cut.
I just can't discount a guy coming back from an injury and is now starting to play well is all and has proven to be a quality player. I am not discounting Curtis' play just not quick to dump Temple based on the current situation is all I'm saying. If Curtis was drop 6-7 dimes a game then I'd sing a different song but I see Temple being a more valuable asset down the line, just my thinking.
This game is so bad that
nba.com don't even want to show us the freaking highlights.....
Temple's ball handling is pretty shoddy, but his stats were better than Curtis's in every category tonight. I don't trust Garrett Temple as a PG right now, even 3rd string. He needs to prove his worth as an above average defender, and improve his ball handling skills as much as he can.
Okay, you have a 6-1 guard who has never proven himself in the regular season getting the nod because he is slightly better than an injury recovering player who is 6-6 and has proven his worth on the court during the regular season, without any discernible age difference.
Like the monkey said in Planet of the Apes. "Right."
I don't think there were any cameras there.
Spurs shot a better percentage from 3 (39%) than from 2 (37%)... probably a brick-fest out there tonight...
No size in the middle, no double teams to play out of, just jacking shots, probably lots of late rushed shot clock shots too but they got some minutes and the starters got some rest. start the season already![]()
This is why you don't have this many unproven, fringe players on your team, particularly when you're a team with championship aspirations.
It's only four games, but let's face it, not a single one of the wing options has stood out. The only one at all who's surprised has been Jerrells and no offense to him, but he was the last guy the Spurs needed (and probably were hoping) would do so.
It looks like it's going to come down to what I presumed it would initially (barring a trade or surprise waiver wire option) and that is, Anderson. He's going to have to have a Matthews/Lee type rookie season for this team, because the other options are bordering on atrocious.
duncan and the rest of the starters make the rest look much better
