I don't know what it is about both teams, but I've always noticed that the Mexican squad has always had more heart than the US squad.. prior to the US oldschools retiring..

I just don't see the passion in the USMNT..

The bad thing about the Mexican team is, now that they're pretty much everywhere.. Europe and what not.. their ego can get the best of them pretty fast.

I'm not sure if I see the comparison. I think both have different styles.

Dempsey is more of a power player and has some qualities of a striker. He's physical and that's why the Premiere League has suited him so well.

I see Guardado more as a creator and passer, who can also score. If I'm not mistaken, being a winger is his natural position.

Its funny because I pretty much think the last game was a symptom of the US's egos getting out of control. I don't think you can say they have no heart though. Look at the Slovenia game for proof of their heart. What is different is that they're not always underdogs anymore, though. Now they have the burden of being hyped up more and they're not usually delivering.

I've really come to the conclusion that they're just really poorly managed at this point by Bradley. His tactics are pretty bad so if he's not even motivating them then there's really no reason to keep him as coach. They really need to switch to someone who's a damn good tactician but I don't know who they can get.

I think Jona Dos Santos is a perfect example of this. He seems to have turned it around now though. In a recent interview he said he realizes that just because he plays for Barcelona it doesn't automatically grant him a spot on the starting XI and that he has to earn his spot on the team. Unlike last year when he was left off the WC roster and left crying and threatened to play for Brasil or Spain instead.

    Edit:
Also Nery Castillo that was one y mother er, he backed it up with his play though.

    Remember this :

That third goal went straight through his hands, not to mention the near post is exactly what he needed to cover. Just amateur stuff. It's Costa Rica though.

The third goal never touched his hands.. it curved as it was going in. He was trying to cover the middle because Andres has always been a great assist man, especially in that position.. personally I didn't expect him to shoot.

Take another look at the shot.. no one touched it.

I was pretty shocked that he shot it there. No angle at all.

That's my point. I watched it again and that's horrible goalkeeping (besides of the defense being a disaster). Near post is *always* the goalie post. Good goalies don't gamble (unless it's a one on one), they trust their teammates.

The second goal was a thing of beauty though.
