But I'm a mut. My white ancestors killed off my Apache ancestors and stole land from my ancestors. So to see the white man squirm or be offended doesn't bother me (and for that matter, the marginalization of s and Injuns doesn't bother me either).
It's why I love reading that white supremacist site I've been linking all the articles from. The white man's fear of multiculturalism and becoming a minority in the country he founded is hilarious. And on the other hand, I find the way blacks (and other minorities) blame whites for EVERYTHING hilarious as well. Both mentalities are absurd, and absurdity is amusing.
My real belief is that we need to transcend race and become self aware/evolved enough not to associate it with our iden y so much. I couldn't care less about my racial makeup and the individual traditions "my" people have. I'm an American, this is, for better or worse, a post-racial society and those "traditions" have long died out, become obsolete. or have become co-opted and reinterpreted. There's no single defining cultural or racial element in America, which is why I find racial pride ludicrous and irrational in the 21st century, especially now that the world is becoming more globalized by the nano-second.
What's happening is that society and culture are post-geographical while individuals have remained territorial and tribal, mainly due to race. If we have any hope of surviving in a post-modern society and ensuring it lasts till the 22nd Century and beyond, we need to abandon the concept of race, even if that means disrupting a group's iden y of itself, which would only be for the short term anyhow.
