Spurs haven't managed to repeat yet, so no, it doesn't go both ways.
That is one reason their motivation will still be high.

The second is that it's like TD/Manu/Pop's farewell tour, and everyone wants to go out on a high.

This is awesome news. Very fair contract compared with other Spurs salaries. He's not being overpaid and for the last years as he's been resurrecting his career, he has been underpaid, so Boris got what was coming to him. What a relief! So glad Boris re-signed!!

Pop won't walk when Duncan walks. If that were the plan, Bud would've never left. I predict Tim, barring injury, plays another 3 years and Pop outlasts him by 2 or more.

I'm not going to get into the Neal/Beli thing, especially since I agree with you. If we're talking about last summer, however, the vast majority of folks would have characterized Beli/Ayres for Neal/Blair as a lateral move at best.
If you thought Manu was going to play as well as he did or that Patty would have such a breakout year then props. I didn't.

This is the best offseason news yet. That deal practically ensures Diaw will finish his career as a Spur, which he should, be became an instrumental player in our system and is one of the best roleplayers in the NBA. No way we steamroll through the Finals like we did without Diaw. , I don't know if we would have beaten OKC without Diaw.

If, big if, Tim can play another 3 more years, I doubt Pop could coach more after that. He is 65 years old, and will be 68 by then. And with the assumption of Tim continuing playing, comes that he is in good body condition. Thus the Spurs should be in contention every year, and that would make huge tolling on Pop. We all see his finally-relaxed expression after game 5.

If Tim retires after next year, the Spurs will be in rebuild mode, or at least no high expectation, and the coaching would be much "easier."

Before this season I predicted that Patty would come out and earn the backup slot, but then I did the same before the 2013 season and he wasn't ready. And yeah, I didn't think he'd be as good as he turned out to be, no-one saw that coming.

As for Manu, I honestly thought he was done as he looked to have lost a step last year, and he was atrocious (except game 5) in last year's Finals. As it turned out, his demise was due to leg-weariness, and no-one is gladder than I to be wrong about that!

I hope Manu has one more strong season left in him, and that's a 2015 march to the Championship!

Did anyone see the TV segment where Diaw's agent was going to elaborate on the interest of other teams and what they were offering?

I was waiting for info from that segment myself, but no one posted anything about it. I thought the TV segment was supposed to be the other day, unless it hasn't aired yet?

Good interview of diaw in french media : http://sport24.lefigaro.fr/basket/nb...coacher-703466

I was just posting the segment they were asking for. It's likely that we'll never know of the other 3 or 4 teams that were targeting Diaw (or honestly if there really were that many teams). I think Diaw could have drawn more interest, as his agent suggested, if he would have waited until more dominoes fell - but the mutual desire for Diaw to remain a Spur was evident and made a need to wait unnecessary.

It was rumored considering that they were seeking a "stretch 4", but point taken.

He didn't "get paid", he just made the Spurs a huge favor with his previous contract...

    Glad to see him back.
