neither have i, tbh. haven't read up on this story.

how does it compare to project veritas stuff, tho
The undercover work is really quite extraordinary. They totally played on the CA officials' arrogance with a dash of leftover imperial paternalism. It seems they let their guards down bragging to what they thought was a Sri Lankan dude.

After reading a few more articles, I'm having trouble finding where CA broke any US laws or election laws. They may have bribed/blackmailed people in other countries, but I haven't read any of that happening in the US. I don't like the big brother aspect of CA/FB at all, but unfortunately our laws have not caught up to technology. Technology is just moving too fast for our lawmakers to keep pace with. Ten years ago, no one would have imagined the amount of information that we provide through our phones like constant location tracking, purchases, etc.

My $0.02 on CA... it looks like they sold vaporware. Their initial selling point was that they had this treasure trove of data that could help sway elections and specifically target voters but once Parscale (shout out to the SA homie) actually started looking at the data he decided that it wasn't valuable. They got scammed out of $5M by CA and Bannon. Now, CA has information that's really not as valuable as they thought, but they're still out there selling the promise so they start resorting to bribes/blackmail as proof of their results.

The wingnut conspiracy involves the use of data from Spectrum health, but it all looks like pizza to me.

Finally watched the video...CA has two good defenses for the statements in the video: puffery or they were trying to ascertain whether the client wanted them to do something illegal, at which point they would cease discussions. One guy says "we don't do this type of stuff" and then at the next meeting with the main boss, the boss says "we do this type of stuff." It's kind of odd...

Will be interested to see what comes out in the next two parts.

When the head of the company says his company does something, his company does that thing.

Probably know better not to do it in the United States. But the guy admits as much that they've gone beyond the call of duty in places like Africa.

At some point in the video he says they pretty much run elections there.

they weren't under oath. Believe nothing, that won't admit EVER to any wrongdoing. Their business is dishonest propaganda, so of course they would lie about their business.

And the CA founder is a ing Russian.

FACEBOOK FAIL: Obama Campaign ‘SUCKED’ Private User Data During 2012 Election

As the controversy surrounding Facebook’s alleged cooperation with outside en ies continues to swirl; new information shows former President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign mined the social network’s user data to help reach likely voters, reports Fox News.

Carol Davidsen, Obama’s former Director of Integration and Media Analytics, confirmed the campaign’s use of Facebook’s “social graphs” -illustrations that map users’ varying connections- on Twitter, saying “Facebook was surprised we were able to suck out the whole social graph, but they didn’t stop us once they realized that was what we were doing.”

“They came to office in the days following election recruiting & were very candid that they allowed us to do things they wouldn’t have allowed someone else to do because they were on our side,” she added.

Davidsen’s admission comes as Facebook finds itself in hot-water over their policies permitting outside factors to impact the US electoral system.

Earlier this year, the Justice Department indicted 13 Russian nationals for exploiting Facebook in order to sway American voters.
