on one hand I think the Spurs should let him leave. But then he has a good game and I think maybe they can resign him long term at 5-6 million and if he makes a jump during that time he will be a valuable contract

It’s a trap. If he wants to sign a long term contract in that range than he has lost his edge. We need hungry players that want to get paid on the roster not guys giving us the good ole college try saving their money to open a book store.

I would shop at Lonnie’s book store.
I’d rather let him go, and give minutes to Langford. Lonnie’s had all of the chances.
Yeah both JRich and Langford should instantly be ahead of Walker to close out the year.
If Lonnie was scorching the net from 3pt range all could be forgiven, but he’s at .291 from the arc, and we’re 52 games in. The Spurs need to look elsewhere.
I do hope we keep Lonnie around for one more year. He does appear to work hard, it’s just not translating on the court consistently. Maybe the light bulb will turn on. With that said, if you look back at all of the pre draft information about Lonnie, all the areas of weakness still exist in his game. It’s been eerily prophetic from the so called experts that analyzed his college game.
No. It’s been 4 years, and we need the roster spot this summer. Best of luck, but hasta la vista, LWIV.
lonnies time has come to an end. no need to even play him except in garbage time. This summer he will be gone. I dont know why people want to keep giving this guy chances. but other DJ/KJ they want to get rid of after their 3rd year even though they have showed more.
We have seen the trend of multiple players people thought were washed only to blow up year 6. Next year is 5. Next year or year after we'll regret letting him go
I rooted for Lonnie, but he’s too much of a Jekyl and Hyde, and after 4 years. I rather they focus on Langford who seems to be the better player on both sides of the court (let’s see in the rest of the season). Also we need that roster spot next year, and yes he is the odd man out with better backcourt in the pipeline.
Name a few of those year Sixers…
That’s okay, it’ll become something to complain about, which is always needed around here.
Jakob for one and everyone wanted him gone. Fathead for two who people are saying spurs should try to bring back. Christian Wood for three went from trash to all star numbers
If you looked, you saw Jakob before this year. He got more from SA than they offered, because he had another offer. As frustrating as KA was, he was never as dis functional as Lonnie has been. He didn’t exactly blow up, more like he developed a 3 that allowed him to stay in an NBA rotation. Wood was a different case, because he wasn’t drafted. Legit case for your position.
The reality is that if you wait til year 6, you’re into a new contract or an extension, and you just can’t do that with everyone. Lonnie has shown nothing to merit a new contract or extension.
I would say for the most part this was because they switched teams and got the opportunity.
Lonnie best chance is to stay on Pops good side as he will give Walker the playing time to hopefully get another contract with another team. So he is playing for his basketball life so he better take this opportunity and run with it or else he will end up with Eubanks
I dont think lonnie plays 100 min the rest of the season. that is about 4 a game. I am expecting him to have have several DNP CD
Lonnie D has come a long way, while his offense, especially his shooting has declined. There is still hope he can get it together as a rotational guard.
The thing is, when mccoullum was heating up, Pelicans within 10. Like 5 mins to go. Off a time out, Pop put walker on him and Walker denied mcoullum the ball and getting the TO. Pop now trusts walkers defense.
I’d rather see what Langford can do. No need to lean into someone who’s not likely to be here next year.
We were also short that game. we are going to be getting in 2 new people that are much better at defense that we have to decide what to do with. Lonnie will be gone at the end of the season.
Pop had vassell and Murray to choose from to guard mccoullum. He chose walker.
It was not a close game so he may not have cared but I am guessing murray was on grahm and Vassel was on Ingrahm. BI is a better player and would have overpowered walker. If he was on jones done know how strong he is. It also looks like they were going at walker the last couple min. this is not really saying how great his defense was kind of the opposite.
