I high key think LMA is playing like on purpose, doesnt want to get traded anywhere, so he'll play out this year and walk back and sign with Portland next season

The roster isn’t even bad defensively. It’s more so that dumbass scheme Pop runs. His scheme will give up open 3’s each time and live with it. This isn’t 2005.

Either LMA wasn't talking loud enough there on D or Murray just ignored him

They'd have been le contenders even with just Klay healthy imo, Wiseman is gonna be a star and thats another reason for us to tank ffs. We need top pick talent.
Wiseman is definitely going to be a star and Klay's injury, while damaging to their le chances in the short term, will pay bigger dividends in the long run.

Sure but if Klay were healthy, adding LMA with that AND getting Oubre off the bench would've made them a definite le contender.
Wiseman's already better than tosb Aldridge. Warrior's dodged a bullet.

Pop’s dumbass defensive scheme doesn’t allow players to be stuck on one guy Steph calls a screen and he’ll have Lamarsha or Fatty on him

I think this is before we realized how physically done LMA is. The whole point of them getting and wanting LMA was to get a good isolation low post scorer, which is valuable at certain points in the playoffs where the game comes down and it gets more physical on the perimeter. But now it is looking like LMA actually can't post anybody up anymore, so while it would have been great to dumb him on GS he would have been just as trash for them as he is for us.
he‘s not able to post up because we don’t run post ups anymore. Why is this so hard to understand? The post up is not an efficient play in this era. Now I‘d still like us to run it when he’s being guarded by bench players or rookies, but him not posting up is by design

I remember reading an article about offensive blackholes - players that don't impact the game unless they have the ball in their hands. The article mentioned this being an issue for Lonnie going forward. His inability to generate assists and his disinterest on defense seems like this will hinder his ceiling as nothing but a bench scorer.

i think Lonnie isn’t really a black hole on offense. In the bubble and even a few times this season he showed he is a okay passer and not really a gunner.

my issue is the guy doesn’t seem to know what to do when he doesn’t have the ball or have to check a player with the ball. His basketball IQ just doesn’t seem to be very good. Like even when he has the ball on offense he will settle for tougher shots than what he could actually get. He doesn’t seem to have a good grasp on how to use angles to get to the hoop, he is quick to settle for jumpers even if he has a big guy or slow guy checking him. Just all types of stuff anybody who has played basketball for as long as he has should know.

I think he's definitely on the decline but I also think he has some 20+ point games left in him when motivated, like playing against his former team...and would dig up some more when needed, especially if he knew he was playing for a le contender. I think his "ma touches" phase is long gone, though.
Having a few 20 point games in you "when motivated" isn't going to be enough to get you over the hump of a good team.

I mean how many times can you possibly play the blazers in a season

The good news is that my biggest fear of this team is that we somehow got to the second round and played a tough 6 game series against the lakers, clippers, or nuggets and then the front office decides to bring the vets back for 1 or 2 more years because "we were so close to the WCF"...

But as long as LMA is playing like this...and i expect him to play more like he played tonight than he played against portland...there is 0% chance of that happening

A lottery pick + all our veterans contract being up + lots of cap space is where we are headed and that is a pretty good place to be going
