I'm not saying they are playing great, I'm just disproving your previous argument. It is possible to win a championship when you have offensive droughts. Don't be all y about my comments.
the compe ion we'll have to go through this year will be MUCH tougher than it was in 03. Having offensive droughts like these again will cost us some important games in a close series.

Maybe in the finals, but not through the West, the west is weak this year.

    Ok everythings fine, sorry.

Seriously if we want to beat Detroit the offense has to be better but thankfully there's many months to go.
you know you have a point there Tek_XX, we're happy with the win but as what Tim Duncan said they still have a lot of work to do to get back at the top of the best defensive teams in the league. Now, the Spurs are down to # 12? well, that's almost the Dallas Mavs, and when you're almost at par with the Mavs when it comes to defense, you're IN BIG BIG TROUBLE.

but playing with Houston one of the top defensive teams and got a W, we're doing okay.

    here check this out:

    Team Defensive Statistics for 2005-2006
    Rankings
    1 Milwaukee
    2 Denver
    3 New York
    4 Utah
    5 Cleveland
    6 L.A. Clippers
    7 New Jersey
    8 Golden State
    9 Miami
    10 Detroit
    11 Orlando
    12 San Antonio
    13 New Orleans/Okla Cty
    14 Chicago
    15 Dallas

accidentally, Detroit are not doing well on the defensive side too!

anyway, it's just the start of the season.

Run some clock and give it to Manu.

    Parker saved the game tonight.

his clutch FT's and that clutch jumper to make it 10 did it.

Id say Parker was the man.

Ginobili was off all night, but yeah, FORCE the ball into Manu, thats great offense...

i think barkley is right. tmac takes horrible shots. he is a great player and those shots look great when he makes them, but they are bad shots.

All good and valid points, but it's so early that stats don't really mean much with so few games.

Case in point: Detroit was actually #3 defensively before their last game in which they allowed 100 points.

With just 6,7 or 8 games played, one good or bad game can totally sway the stats and not allow them to tell the whole story.

Wow the Spurs need a lot of work.
    Its game 9, chill out.

You don't think Finley or Barry could've helped out tonight more than Melvin Sanders?!?

    Uh, yeah, maybe.

    Chill out.

Parker did solid, I wouldn't say he 'SAVED' the night though.

Manu was off from the outside, but hardly off in the sense of scoring and being active. His drives in the first half helped set the tone. His shot was obviously not on, so the 'forcing offense' comment doesn't make sense because he is obviously most effective on drives and open three pointers, not tough mid-range/perimeter shots with a defender on him. When you force offense to Manu its about giving him a pick and letting him find the seams and create. It's not about giving him the ball with 7 seconds left in the shot clock and telling him to take low percentage fade aways.

"Manu was off from the outside"

again, his 3Gs and some jumpers were banging onto the front rim, short.
Maybe still not enough lift in his legs, yet.

Wich is what he did a couple of times.

He didn't have the lane in the 4th quarter.

Duncan was way too damn passive in the 4th, the ankle might have done that, pray that thing isn't bad.

    BTW,

Does Horry do anything anymore that suprises you?
    Dude is just amazing.

    BTW,

    Props to Rasho Nesterovic.

10 points and solid, to good D on Yao Ming in the time played.

Not alot of rebounds, but only cause he was sucked out of the lane by Yao on the perimiter.

Big Props to Rasho, another great game VS Yao Ming.

Too bad Yao doesnt play for the other 30 teams, Rasho would be a of a center.

well, you're doing well on the offensive team stats #2 or #3?

the biggest surprise is the L.A. Clippers-Kobe's new , they're both doing well on both-offensively & defensively.

    Yeah, that could be it.

Once again, if Finley or Barry is available, hes given a bigger breather, due to Wesley and Barry being out there and both Barry and Finley I think can handle both.

Manu looked ok, his jumper just wasn't there.

    Wich is cool, it happens.

15 points is pretty good for a off night.

The talent on that team might finally be playing correctly.

Dunleavy is a pretty good coach as well.

Would be awesome to see them win that divison.

    Aint happening,but would be great.

Why not? For the past 3 years you've defended your daddy Pop to the death saying that same strategy, but forcing to Tim instead of Manu, was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Thanks for proving my point after all this time.

speaking of the game vs Rockets, i think Horry looked on the court and played pretty well. He almost matched Tim's stats with his 16pts &7rbs.

my applause to Big Shot Rob!

Agreed. He just needs more shot attempts. and needs to believe that Pop has enough confidence in him, to give him solid minutes, and especially at key moments, when the game is on the line.

He could truly be a weapon for the Spurs...he just is so far down the totem poll, that his skills will never see the light of day.

    Agree 100%.

Dudes got skills, and he just doesn't want to use them 100%.

Its a shame. He could be a 12-8 guy if he busted his ass like a Manu does.

Hes a good offensive center, but whats amazing is his defense against good centers like Yao Ming.

He just needs more shot attempts
    Preachin to the choir.

Ive said for the longest time for him and Parker to run more Pick and Rolls for that jumper at the FT line, or on the baseline.

    Tonight they actually did it.

His jumper was a tad off, but he had some nice hooks and fallaways.

That one hook over Stromile Swift was awesome.

Ginobili was off all night?? what a dumbass, Manu had a better FG%, 4 steals to TP's 2, 2 TOs to TP's 6, and played 8 less minutes than TP and still managed to have only 2 points less. What the are you talking about dumbass???
